Once again showing the polls aren't worth the bandwidth they're taking up, Karen Handel beat Jon Ossoff by a 4.2% margin, outperforming Trump's election-day margin over Clinton. I didn't vote for Handel in the primary, but I damn sure made a point to vote for her yesterday.
His campaign was baffling to me. Living in the district, it was obvious that they had a ton of money with no real plan on how to use it all. A Planned Parenthood rep knocked on my door to try to win my support for Ossoff last week. I'm staunchly pro-life, and I explained to him that his effort only drove my support toward his opposition even more. It was like there was no self-awareness that there are people in the district that don't support a full-on liberal agenda.
I'm most happy that I can now live my life without being inundated with campaign commercials for the next few months.

They really do not understand the problem. Handel was not really loved by anyone that I know of but the democrats succeed once again in putting up someone that is so much more questionable in motive.
It baffles me how they can not understand that ANYONE that was reasonably moderate would have walked off with this election?

This was a big election on the national stage. I have heard a ton about this on the national media leading up to the election. Money was pouring in from the democrat side and Trump was doing everything he could to make sure the GOP stayed elected.
This morning after she won, I haven't heard much about it. No national media coverage. It again clarifies that no matter what the dems do, there are still us people out there that feel like we are trying to be run over and it's not going to happen so easily.
That guy was a smug prick. Just like most of the left today. They want to tell you how much smarter they are and how much better they could run your life than you would.

I agree. The GOP candidate wasn't the sharpest tool from the limited things I saw. But again, glad it went the GOP way. That was a big time win against the dem machine.

Their goal was to simply flip a red suburban district hoping for a domino effect to ensue next year in mid terms. They had no real platform. Just to not like trump and to win the district. Not unusual for that bunch.
I thought Jonah Goldberg had a good writeup regarding their intentions:

Meanwhile, if Ossoff had won, Democrats would have been even more emboldened. They could go to donors and say, “We bought a seat in a Republican district with a hipster dufus candidate, who got trolled into getting engaged. If we do it 23 more times, we get a Democratic House, a Speaker Pelosi, and maybe impeachment.â€

It truly is becoming sad to see how out of touch the democratic party is. The old democratic demographic is out of the picture. Iron workers and factory workers are no longer a representation of the democratic party. The harder they push alt left liberal agendas the more they are going to lose.

That's because the Democratic party that is out there now is a Socialist Party.

Funny how that was supposed to be the beginning of the end for Trump and a clear referendum on the evil republicans.
Then it didn't mean anything. Nobody wants to talk about it.
