"I'm fixing to make a statement that won't be a popular statement, I guarantee you," Dye said. "I'd rather see Auburn in the East than us play Alabama every year. I know the Iron Bowl, (and) I'm not the least bit afraid of Auburn playing Alabama. We can play them on a rotating basis like everyone else."
"We don't need to let Alabama dictate what we do at Auburn," Dye said. "That's what happened when they divided the teams up in the conference."
What do you all think about the end of yearly games against those elephants? Do you like the idea of Auburn in the East?

Wouldn't mind Auburn in the East at all. Some on here may be too young to remember or care but growing up, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama were on the schedule every year. But then, the other side of that is I've really come to love the AU/LSU series. Ultimately, I wouldn't want to give up the Iron Bowl regardless of what division we were in.

Perception is reality and the perception will be that exactly.

Conflicted. While I think it makes more sense with us in the East rather than Mizzoou, I would not be a fan of playing bama twice a year.
The Iron bowl is a huge deal. Nothing else like it. The national championship usually runs through it.
Would they rename the SECCG to the IB? Can we get that in writing?
I would adjust to any decision made with this.
-
Nah. The iron bowl is legend. I mean they made a documentary about it. Nothing like it. Doesn't need to rotate. Now if they make them the permanent annual game like we do uga now then great. But I would miss lsu every year.

Sounds like we have been getting our heads pounded by the bully up the street and we can't hack it anymore so we need an excuse to go to beat up on the nerdy kids to make us look better. Stop making excuses AUBURN and get your ass out there and win some damn ballgames!!!
I vote Sec of Defense (Gen) Mad Dog Mattis to replace Gus's limp ass bus!!

Seriously, fuck the rivalry. Rotate that shit out, hopefully if both schools handle business the iron bowl will be in the city of Atlanta most years.

I love traditional rivalries, especially in football. Even if we were to move to the East, I'd want to keep the Iron Bowl on the schedule. I think college football fans in general love and look forward to rivalry games, even if it's not their team. Unless I've got something else pressing, I'm going to watch a good bit of tOSU vs. Meatchicken. I'll pull for GT all day long against those filthy Bulldogs. I'll check out Texas/OU and of course, the Shippensburg vs. Towson State clash. And I'll bet a good bit of the country looks forward to the Iron Bowl as well. I don't want to lose that.
On another note, I heard a lot of talk this morning on Dye's comments and people were arguing that it has nothing to do with location because teams are flying and there's really no flight between SEC sites that would be more than an hour or two. Maybe Gainesville to Mizzou would be an exception. But it's not just the football team that's traveling. Do the softball chicks fly to Columbia for a meeting with the Cocks? Does the tennis team fly to Knoxville? And if the Equestrian team has a match up with Kentucky, how they gonna' get them damn horses on a plane? Geographically, moving to the East would just make good sense from an economic standpoint.

I heard the whole interview with Pat. Although I was a little confused at the end when he said "and I seen you boys rassle with dem angels out theyyar. I seen you become men".
Then he starts crying and takes a shot of wild turkey.
Strange interview.
To pat :bar:

I disagree.
I would certainly miss the LSU rivalry most, especially living here where I can see Auburn every other year by driving a little over an hour down the road. My personal self-interest actually makes it way easier for me to make it to away games being in the West. I've gone to every A&M game at Kyle Field for the last 6 years as an excuse to visit my brother-in-law in Austin.
But all the things Snags said. I'm OCD as shit about things not making logical sense or fitting where they should and Missouri being in the East and us being in the West just makes zero practical sense.

I'd add to that that the divisions are in some need of some parity and I think we could help that by switching with Missouri. Bama & LSU would dominate the west and us and Georgia/Florida would probably dominate the East. Yeah, we'd still have Vandy & Kentucky, but that'd be balanced out a bit by moving Mizzou to the West. And on top of THAT, as much as we hate it, Bama is really going to dominate the West moreso than LSU is, and I'm 99% sure we'd try to keep them as our interdivision rival, so in effect it's not really running away from anything. Now, if Bama decides Tennessee is their "real rival", then the onus of bitchitude is on them, not us.
-
I agree that the logistics of Mizzou in the east was just strange when they did it to begin with. Now had this been something that has been talked about since day one, then let's give this some serious thought. But the fact is that it hasn't. Pat has just blurted this out and now all the sudden it's the talk of the town. And the fact that he is the one that said it makes it sound like AU is trying to run and hide.

I like it the way it is. Why change it?

I ain't never heard nobody complain about the division we have. East? What da name of some adem other divisions. East? West?

At least it ain't Legends and Leaders

Auburn should've moved to the East when Mizzo and aTm were added. Alabama would be our set cross division rival.
