Auburn backup QB Tyler Queen opts to transfer
AUBURN – The injury-plagued Auburn career of quarterback Tyler Queen has come to an end.
The former three-star prospect from Kennesaw, Ga., announced in a Twitter message Tuesday afternoon that he’ll be leaving the Auburn program in the hopes of finding another college program to finish his eligibility with.
“Although I’ve had a great two and a half years here, I feel like I haven’t had the chance to show the player I am capable of being,†Queen wrote in his Twitter message to Auburn fans. “I feel it is time to transfer and explore other opportunities.â€

The 243-pound Queen arrived on campus in 2015 as a projected backup to Jeremy Johnson and Sean White but never got on the field after needing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow to repair a previous injury from his time at North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Ga.
“It was something that's kind of been bothering him during fall camp with his elbow and we just felt strongly that we needed to go ahead and get that procedure done (to) get him back for spring,†Malzahn said in September 2016.
Queen, the 241-pound quarterback, was ranked as one of the Top 12 quarterbacks in high school according to 247Sports.com and the top rated quarterback in Georgia two years ago by Scout.com.

Queen 2016 spring season ended after less than two weeks of practice after suffering a shoulder injury in the final week of spring practices. After suffering the injury to his the AC joint, which is the joint between the collarbone and the outside of the shoulder blade, caused his right arm to be placed in a sling. Queen’s recent shoulder injury was considered to be minor and the quarterback was expected to be active this fall.
After suffering through the shoulder injury that eventually required another surgery by Dr. James Andrews, Queen only saw limited action in two blowout wins last season against Louisiana-Monroe and Alabama A&M.
Queen ends his two and a half year Auburn career with only one completion for 11 yards and never climbed higher than third on the Auburn depth chart since arriving on campus.
