Title: NFC and AFC Championship Games
Post by: The Six on January 22, 2017, 12:01:17 PM
Which teams you picking?

TL;DR version - I'm picking Atlanta and Pittsburgh.

NFC: Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons
I have to lean slightly to the Falcons here being home and relatively more healthy than the Pack. No doubt Rodgers is hotter than a $2 pistol but something tells me the Dirty Birds find a way to get it done by building a solid lead and holding off discount double-check's fourth quarter magic.
Atlanta 35, Green Bay 34

AFC: Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots
All the media hype is solidly on Tom Brady and Bill Belichick the same way it was on Alabama most of the season (and for a lot of the same reasons). Here's the thing though, Tom Brady really struggles in these games and while he is one of the best to ever play, he's not what he used to be. Pittsburgh, flu or not, has as explosive an offense as any team in the AFC and Big Bend Over along with Brown at WR and the sledgehammer Bell in the backfield have enough to pull the upset. I'm thinking Tomlin gets his bunch motivated and ready to pull the upset.
Pittsburgh 23, New England 20

Same here.  ATL vs. PITT. in the Stupor Bowl.

That's what I want to see, but damn I don't like being on the other side of A-A-Ron Rodgers today.  Freakin' assassin.

I like the Steelers without question. The Falcons I would rather win just because I'm not an Aaron Rodgers fan. He is a pretty good QB though. If Atlanta wants to win, they better have the ball as the clock hits 0:00.

Falcon's are far better personnel- wise on offense.
Like some of you I dislike going against Rodgers...about like picking against Brady.
So toss all those qualms out the window and make it Atlanta v. Pittsburgh.

God did I just pick the Falcons?

Oh well even Tampa Bay got there once.

Falcons did too and got stomped by John Elway's last ride with Denver.

Didn't see that coming.  A win doesn't surprise me but hanging 44 on GB?  To be fair, the Packers were a walking MASH unit.  Obliterated by injuries, but the difference was they had no answer at all for the Falcons' offense.

Birds vs....?

Steelers got that ass whipped. Should be a good duel between Brady and Ryan.

I guess zone is the only way Tomlin knows how to play D.  The Pats' offense is tailor made to pick a zone apart and it was embarrassing how bad they made the Steelers look.  It was like, "We're all going to stand here in our areas and now, don't you run routes where we're not standing.  That's cheating."  How many yards did Hogan have?  739?

The Falcons do play man.  Maybe they can slow them down 27/364th or 12.6% more than Pittsburgh did.

NFL is probably pissed.  i mean that is a horrible ratings matchup...well maybe not the Pats, although most people outside of Pats fans are tired of them in the Super Bowl, and outside of Snaggle what are there like 50...100 Falcons fans?

My boy is cheesin'.  The Falcons and Pats are his two besties. He's already put in for wings, ribs and a bunch of peeps over to watch it.  And screw you.  There are countless dozens of us.
