Gus on Dak: "Their QB is one of the better players in college football. ... He's like another running back."
...
Gus: Sean White is starting at quarterback against Miss St.
...
Malzahn and Lashlee made the decision on Sean White this morning.
...
Gus on Jeremy: "He's competitor. But he's a team guy, too. He'll support Sean, and he'll get reps still in practice."
...
Gus: "From a coach's standpoint, you got to each week do what you feel like is going to help your team best"
...
Gus: No regrets on not getting Sean White reps against LSU. "Felt like it was the right thing to do to get (Jeremy) back out there"
...
Gus: "I feel good about Sean. ... His teammates will have a whole lot of confidence in him"
...
Will QB be a week-to-week thing? Gus says they're taking it one game at a time.
...
Gus on QB decision: It's more of what's best for the offense right now. ... Sean has earned that right and that's where we're at.
...
Gus: "Sean White is a good quarterback. We expect Sean White to play well. ... We're looking forward to watching him play."
...
Gus: Carl Lawson is going to be out for an extended period of time. "Hopeful we'll get him back before the season is out."
...
Gus: Carl "is disappointed. He's a great competitor. He's our defensive leader. ... It's extremely hard on him. He's discouraged."
...
Byron Cowart "definitely could" get more involved with defense now that Carl Lawson is out for extended period of time, Gus says
...
Gus: Jason Smith and J-Wall could get reps at QB this week ... but they're both WRs
...
Gus on Jason Smith: Don't want to say too much if it's Wildcat or normal offense. ... It could be Wildcat"
...
Gus: Peyton Barber will probably be the first guy out there at RB, but expect to see all four guys
...
What is Auburn's offense good at? Gus: "I think we can run the football. ... I still think we're gonna be really efficient in passing game"
...
Gus: "We got to get back to getting positive yards on first down."
...
Gus on defensive assessment: "We got to get better. ... Will can put a plan together to do a better job in this area."
...
Gus: "We need exactly what happened in 2013. ... It feels exactly like it did in 2013 after the LSU game." Need leaders to emerge
Till November from what I heard.
EDIT - On another note and potentially more serious, Lawson is out for a while.
Gus: "We need exactly what happened in 2013. ... It feels exactly like it did in 2013 after the LSU game." Need leaders to emerge
Sean White just named starter for the MSU game.

Should have done this 1/2 time at LSU game and he would have "some" game experience.
How bad must JJ have been at Monday practice for this to happen.
I think it may have been going on already. There was rumblings that JJ was late to practice on Sunday.
Then there was the interview with Rhett saying JJ was the man.
And now we get this. What the hell is going on over there!
My skreets say he missed part of practice....and there was a fight.I'm assuming that if JJ threw a punch, no one was actually hit then, right?

Actually disagree with this, mentioned this in another thread. No reason to throw the kid in their in a losing battle in a hostile environment. Get him installed in practice as QB1 get him game ready and he starts the game in the friendly confines of JHS.

My skreetz say JJ was caught with MJ. Then he got in a fight with a coach. Then he was caught stealing a Tag Heuer watch out of a defensive back's dorm room. Then they found out he was majoring in Public Relations. Then he was overheard calling someone a nurra'. Now he's day to day.
Rumor mill said he wasn't at practice at all. Rhett didn't exactly say JJ was the man. He said, He is the starter at this moment and we'll see what happens or something to that extent. Not exactly a vote of confidence.

I blame Cam.
I am wondering if Gus will run the "Air to fakie" and "Switch ollie" plays this week.

I'm sure this has already been discussed, but what QBs have been successful in the Malzahn system for more than one year?
Marshall. Guy was a beast both years. Not perfect but an ultra athlete.
Ok, what QB has Malzhan recruited out of high school that ever amounted to anything?
Mitch Mustain...oh, wait. He's still plays in that lingerie league.
QB coach: White has 'Brady factor'
Ryan Black
Auburn Newsletter
Ken Mastrole has been a private quarterback coach for NFL draft choices Teddy Bridgewater, Tahj Boyd and EJ Manuel. And he’s tutored a slew of quarterbacks who dot college rosters across the country.
One of those is Auburn’s new starter, redshirt freshman Sean White, who Mastrole said is as talented as any quarterback he’s ever seen.
“Sean ranks right up there,†he said. “I know undoubtedly he has the arm talent, the arm strength, the anticipation and the moxie to play the position. I think he really embodies all those things. He’s definitely a guy that, when I look between his two ears, he has all of that. It’s the way that he’s wired.â€
Every quarterback who has worked alongside White, Mastrole said, has “marveled†at the way the way the ball comes out of his hand and at his lightning-quick release.
But Mastrole said it is not White’s physical gifts that are his greatest asset as looks ahead to his first career start, which will come Saturday against Mississippi State in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Instead, it’s mental. The “Brady factor,†Mastroled dubbed it, after New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who White has tried to model his game after in every respect.
“Obviously, all of these guys are talented enough or they wouldn’t have been recruited at the next level, regardless of whether you’re in a Power 5 conference or a smaller program,†Mastrole said. “But to be able to week in and week out take the ups and downs, take people that are your greatest fans but tomorrow could be your biggest enemies or your biggest critics, to be able to take all that in and be able to execute at a high level week in and week out at practice, that’s the biggest thing. It’s about compartmentalizing.â€
Being able to sit out last season and take everything in benefited White, Mastrole said. That’s not to say White couldn’t have performed admirably as a true freshman last season.
Some things, Mastrole said, are just better learned through observation.
“I think that year of being able to travel with the team, go to places like Alabama, Ole Miss and see how to compete and play, I think that just gave him mental repetition,†Mastrole said. “It definitely helped being able to see it and be around those guys and really learn how that offense operates and the components within that offense. That typically takes a year to really digest for a quarterback.â€
Former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer said Tuesday he believes White should have been at the top of the depth chart far sooner. Dilfer worked with White at the Elite 11 quarterback camp and said White reminded him of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees – but with an even stronger arm.
“I always thought he would be the guy,†Dilfer said in an interview on ESPN Radio. “I was shocked Jeremy Johnson was. He's a lot like Kyle Allen at Texas A&M. I think."
Mastrole said White's first start won't be without some bumps along the way. He won't be perfect. He might not even throw multiple touchdowns. But one thing he will be, Mastrole said, is consistent. He will help the Tigers move the ball efficiently and execute the offense correctly.
"I think he’s going to put them in the best position possible," Mastrole said. "He’ll probably have a couple of mistakes, but I think he’ll grade out high."
And that's just for starters.
"Over the course of the season, I think he’s only going to get better," Mastrole said. "I think he’ll improve each week. I firmly believe he’s the kind of guy that’s only going to get better and better with game reps. I think he’s shown he’s instilled confidence in the staff, and he’s going to continue to build on that going forward."
Too many great story's about White.Same guy from the other story I posted. It was his QB coach.

I wouldn't read to much into it. I expect White to struggle a bit, but I do believe we can win with him as QB.
This game is really pivotal. Lose and we have San Jose State and a bye week and are looking at 3-2.
A win will do wonders for morale, especially over the next 3 weeks, before we get into the real shit.
Not only for the players and coaches but the fans too.
i don't care much for fair weather fans. you are either on or your off. nothing between. you don't pack your shit in the closet or in a box and decide later to pull it out. it is always out.
that noise is for bama fans.

This is all my fault.
I still wear my stuff, still do whatever but...
I was unable to watch the Louisville game because I was at a birthday party for someone I didn't know.
I was unable to watch the Jax State game because I was buying a truck (and figured it'd be a blowout)
I was unable to watch the LSU game because I was in Atlanta watching Hall and Oates and Billy Idol.

You going to watch the MS State game? Or will you be riding that new truck to a Huey Lewis and the News Birthday concert?
Too many great story's about White.Thinking the same thing.
Thinking the same thing.Reminds me of our heisman candidate Named Jeremy Johnson.

Billy Idol opened for Hall & Oates?
I am hoping this happens especially now the players have seen the coaches do what needs to be done at QB.
Looks like Muschamp is looking for something different as well.

You guys want to go BOOM MUTHA FUCKA when we sign a great recruit. But suddenly, when the articles arise talking about why they're some of the best in the country......(BTW...he was in fact the Elite 11 MVP)
We've got talent out the ass. Don't shy away from it. The chemistry problems, whatever they may be, need to get worked out. And we could be dangerous.
