McCarron was also asked about the distribution of Blake Sims' passes and if he thought Amari Cooper was targeted too often. McCarron said he thought the Tide should be spreading the ball more.
"I don't know if that's Lane doing that or if coach Saban is kind of putting the handcuffs on Lane like I've known Coach to do in the past on his offensive coordinator and we're going to be very bland and run this play and do this and we'll throw it on third down if we have to,
Out of the family?

Well in all fairness he did have a head injury.

Saban rebuts the "leadership" comments, but doesn't address the handcuffing of the offense. Fran Tarkenton, though, had some choice words for AJ:
Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton was also asked to respond to McCarron's comments in an interview on WJOX's Opening Drive on Wednesday morning. He didn't mince words.
"AJ McCarron, he need to be quiet," Tarkenton said. "He was so fortunate to play in that program. He's an average quarterback at best. He couldn't have played anywhere else but Alabama and to make any kind of comment is just disrespectful. He shouldn't have made it and he should keep his mouth shut and praise Saban and Alabama for the rest of his life."

Facts are the damndest things. Saban is in complete control of the offense and Lane. He gets away with it fir the most part unlike what happened to Chiz....but thats up to now. It may be that he's not anymore.

The Mctatto story is among the list of non-stories that we see plastered every day. The dude isn't very bright and why what he says to Bama fans matters is beyond me.
Now, if he wants to post some nudie pics of his wife, I'm all eyes.
-
Another crack in the dam. I'm hoping the dam breaks sooner rather than later.

He is one of (if not the) worst excuse for an analyst/sports reporter. Dude is horrible and their morning show is so freaking Anti-Auburn its crap. I miss Bill King on my morning drives.

Except (dislike for AJ aside) I think McCarron was pretty sought after and highly rated out of HS.
Tarkenton sounds like a moron. Praise them?? really??? F that

The guy has a weekly segment on this program. They ask for analysis from somebody you would think is qualified to give a first hand account. He gives an honest assessment from his point of view and since it doesn't praise and exalt on high the mighty Lord Saybinz, dude gets ripped and Fran Tarkenton (What, is he 134 years old?) says he needs to worship at the Saybinz alter for the rest of his life.
Anyone recall a few years ago, I believe it was ex UF Go Gatah Kerwin Bell, who gave some analysis of Florida's game plan that week. It wasn't a 100% glowing endorsement but nothing more than an honest breakdown. Burrbin Myerz banned him from the athletic department. Don't know if they kissed and made up but it was some childish crap for a while.

McTattoo says he was a misunderstood, blames media
http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2014/10/aj_mccarron_responds_to_commen.html#incart_m-rpt-2 (http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2014/10/aj_mccarron_responds_to_commen.html#incart_m-rpt-2)
"It comes with the position of playing the position of QB at the University of Alabama, for the rest of your life and however long your career lasts in football and then after football, people are going to want to hear what you have to say about the university," McCarron said. "And sometimes that' going to be taken out of context and blown up more (than) what it was actually intended for. And that's the bad side of media and the for the guy that first wrote the article, I mean, that's his job. The negative attracts people to click on the article and read it more then it goes from there.
"Now his name is all over the place, so it helps sell their product, but it's tough sitting there when I felt like I've been a big supporter of this year's team, not only this year's team, but Blake Sims. He's one of my good friends and we talk all the time and I try to help him with everything I can. But that's just the way it goes sometimes that it's taken out of context.
"I wish that fans truly knew me and I know that people that know me and have been around me know what I mean or what I meant what I said last night."
Context was provided in the original story about what led into each quote and full audio of his segment was added.
McCarron went on to clarify his comments about Alabama's offense needing a "true leader."
"I misworded it last night and I'll admit that," he said. "What I meant, because I gave an example right after I said that, which was the 'vocal leader.' So that's what I should have said was vocal leader and I mentioned last night, they have plenty of leaders on the team. I named numerous ones last night. Ryan Kelly, I knew he was one of them. And I asked, with him being out, who was going to be that vocal guy that steps up now? And I asked is that Blake Sims? Does he need to step up into that role? That's not a negative in any way."
"But I really don't see what all the fuss was of people on the Internet or on Twitter talking about me bashing the team. I never once have I ever bashed our team, especially this year. If anything, and I think Ryan you can back me up, I've been one of the biggest supporters of this year's team and for Blake Sims.
"But that's the way it goes sometimes. Media has to sell and that's just the ugly side of the media. I feel bad for the guys that report the right way and do the right things and don't try to spin everything into a negative and make it all about sales. The negative side of the media ruins it for the guys that truly care about good reporting. But that's just the way it goes sometimes."
