AUBURN, Alabama -- The interior offensive line has taken another hit due to injury.
Sophomore guard Jordan Diamond, who has battled injuries in all three years of his career, will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery.
Diamond was the backup to right guard Avery Young, although Will Adams got the first look at that spot when the second team entered the game against San Jose State.
Adams will likely step into that role behind Young, although backup left guard Devonte Danzey would likely enter the game at left guard, with Chad Slade moving to the right side, if Young went down.
"He'll be out for the season," Malzahn said. "He's a good player and a great person."
Diamond, a 6-foot-6, 317-pounder who was a former five-star recruit, has been snakebitten with injuries in his three seasons at Auburn.
In 2012, he was forced to redshirt after tearing a labrum in his shoulder, and although he played in four games last season, Diamond suffered a knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery and forced him to miss spring practice.
When Diamond arrived for training camp this season, offensive line coach J.B. Grimes thought the sophomore was still battling the injury.
"I still think that he's hurting," Grimes said in August. "He's such a tough kid, you can hardly tell it, but he hasn't fully recovered yet."

That's rough for Diamond
-
It's a shame, I expected a sparkling career out of him.
-
He is a tough kid. He can cut glass with his stare too.
-
You guys are abrasive.
-
Maybe Auburn is not right for him. Maybe he would look better in a different setting.
-
He needs to have a little better clarity to see if he is cut out to be at Auburn. He can't just dangle the carrot of being a 5-star recruit in our faces and not get our hopes up. Color me surprised that he hasn't been a bigger contributor so far.

No doubt. At this facet of the game, I expected him to be further along. But the brilliance of Grimes' coaching is he's got plenty of others ready to mount up and take his place.

I hope he doesn't just sit around drinking de beers during his rehab.

His hearts on fire to do this.

That's a lot of pressure. He's just a solitary man.

What, is he gonna get smuggled into the NFL?
-
My favorite movie is Lethal Weapon 2.
-
If he does shine well enough to make it to the NFL, he'll have his name up in marquise lights.

JD, You are no princess, cut out the bullshit and get on the field.
Don't be such a square, cut out everything blocking your path, and do what it takes to get healthy!
-
Sorry, but often the effects of an injury like this are forever.
-
This brings a tear drop to my eye.

I heard he went to Jared. Dr. Phillip Jared for a second opinion on the injury, still no go.
