Their University had filed a lawsuit against a Houndstooth company in Georgia...claiming that they have the trademark for the black and white houndstooth design...LMAO.
A couple things to note...
One, Bear Bryant didn't wear a houndstooth hat all of the time, probably not even most of the time...try a black and white plaid hat.
Two, Houndstooth has been around for hundreds of years before Bear walked the sidelines at the Crapstain.
Three, I wish I was the defense attorney of the Georgia based company, because that would've been another notch in my belt for a successful defense.

I thought it was confirmed that Bryant never wore houndstooth, but Jordan did briefly.

Houndstooth had nothing to do with the Bear. It's origins are with two, tall blonde headed twin girls.

Houndstooth, hounds tooth check or hound's tooth (and similar spellings), also known as dogstooth, dogtooth or dog's tooth, is a duotone textile pattern characterized by broken checks or abstract four-pointed shapes, often in black and white, although other colours are used. The classic houndstooth pattern is an example of a tessellation.
A smaller scale version of the pattern can be referred to as puppytooth.[1][2]
Kind of helps explain the wimmen folk.

And they were obviously bammers, otherwise it would be called Houndsteeth.
