I went to high school with Bill Clark - one year ahead of me. He drew up plays in high school, played positions on both sides of the ball in his four years at PHS, and is a good guy. I hope he gets it and moves on to bigger and better things.
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Jacksonville State head coach Bill Clark is set to interview on Friday morning at 8 a.m. in Atlanta with UAB for the head coaching job, according to sources.
Clark led Jacksonville State to the FCS quarterfinals and an 11-4 record in his first season. Jacksonville State officials confirmed last week that he has a contract buyout of $400,000, but UAB is owed $550,000 by former head coach Garrick McGee taking the offensive coordinator position at Louisville.
The Anniston Star reported on Twitter that UAB athletic director Brian Mackin asked for permission to speak with Clark yesterday.
Prior to Jacksonville State, Clark was the defensive coordinator at South Alabama. With defense being a struggle for UAB the past two seasons, Clark has a proven track record of success on that side of the ball.
JSU set 49 school records, 13 Ohio Valley Conference records and three NCAA records this season.

He was the PHS football coach when I was in High School. Won a few State Championships there.

I would submit that UAB would not be a step up from JSU...at least until the Broad of Trustees from the western school gives up control of the Birmingham campus.
Taking a job at UAB is a lateral move at best...and is possibly the kiss of death to a otherwise promising career.

He'll get the national exposure he can't get at JSU. He wouldn't have to win 'em all, just show improvement and make the connections and off he goes. Terry Bowden was not exactly swimming in wins at Samford either.

Yes. As AWK mentioned, he was the coach the entire time we were there.

Prattville is where he made his name. A couple of state championships and one robbed, in '04 I think.
Of course, that was after PHS became a huge metrosexual conglomerate. We good ole boys brought the first one home in '84!
GET THE HELL OFF MY LAWN!

See my above post. He started coaching there when we were Juniors. It was coach Lucas before that.

Gosh. There are so many famous people up in this thread. I'm beside myself and not sure what to do.

For some reason, I was thinking Toad-man was the HS coach when we were in Jr. High & Clark took over the same year we started, but now that I think about it, you're right.

I was the captain of the checker team but I don't boast much.
