Title: My (Football) Xmas Wishlist
Post by: wesfau2 on December 11, 2013, 10:39:17 AM
Dear fat guy,
Gimme the following or I eat reindeer steaks in 2014:

Auburn as the final BCS champ
Lots of individual hardware for the coaches and players
Saban to Texas...or anywhere really.
NCAA buckwheats for Bama
The usual succession of Bear-related fuck ups as coaches to replace $aban
Great AU signing class in Feb
Cheetos and handjobs for all my men.

Thanks,
Wes

If Saban's really had a contract on his desk since Friday and intends on staying at Alabama, why hasn't he signed it?

This is one of the most crucial moments in recruiting as the momentum or needs of the regular season will be used prior to the Christmas dead period.  Allowing this kind of media attention to capture college football even in the face of your star quarterback in New York for the Heisman ceremony hinders recruiting.

I think it's a fact that he is entertaining the idea of going to Texas.  I think it's plausible that the Texas regents are meeting on Thursday to finalize Brown's departure and decide whether or not to agree to Saban's terms.

JMO on this:

Little Nicky likes the feeling of new relationships, new fans mobbing him at the airport, the want in their eyes that he is going to save them from their 8 and 4 seasons. To win 3 out of the last 4 MNC's and yet get criticized this year I don't think is sitting with him to well. He is never going to make as much money with a new team than he is right now. Breaking in a new QB next year and somewhat tougher schedule with an AU team returning most players and a FULL year in the system could pose major problems for him.

But srsly, folks.  Have no clue if he's staying or going.  Have no clue if there really is a "contract sitting on his desk" or how anyone besides the parties themselves would know that, if it's true.  And IF true, why anyone would read anything into him not signing it yet when all indications are that he and every coach out there are on the recruiting trail trying to nail down commits before the dead period.  If Allubumah is making him a contract offer that would mean more mega-millions and affect where you spend the next few years of your life...at 62 years old....you just might want to take a day or two to mull things over.

He's a dickhead, but he ain't no fool.
