In the midst of a column about weak non-conference opponents, Scarbinsky manages to let everyone know the SEC West has already been won by the mighty Tahd.

The issue goes deeper than football's fallback position, and you know that drill. It goes like this: The conference is so good from top to bottom it makes eight conference games a dangerous slog through a muddy minefield, making a few non-conference trips to the spa a necessity.
Excuse me, but not necessarily. Not when Western Kentucky puts up more of a fight than Auburn or Arkansas against Alabama.
Not to mention, the SEC's unbalanced schedule allows a team like Alabama to hit the lottery two straight years. The Crimson Tide didn't have to face Georgia, Florida or South Carolina during the regular season last year, and it'll miss the Bulldogs, Gators and Gameroosters again this season before the Tide meets one of them in Atlanta.
It's a foregone conclusion. Go ahead and print the programs...at least half of it.
And let's not forget to take a shot at Auburn
As for Auburn, if the non-conference bar were any lower for Gus Malzahn in his return as head coach, he'd be playing Class 1A high schools. Arkansas State did win the Sun Belt last year - with Malzahn in charge - but Washington State, Florida Atlantic and FCS bottom-feeder Western Carolina combined to capture three conference victories.
Is Auburn really opening up more game-day parking spaces and tailgating spots for this?
In know, I know. It won't last forever, there's is coming, etc. Just sucks to see this ALL THE TIME when it comes to Alabama.

I really don't blame him.
LSU lost almost their entire defense.
Auburn sucks.
Texas A&M is not going to be as good, and I highly doubt they can beat Alabama two years in a row.
Unless Hugh Freeze truly has Ole Miss up and coming, I don't see any way Alabama doesn't slip into the SEC championship game. Sure they may have a loss or two, but A&M and LSU aren't going undefeated.

All true but just sucks to read it. I ask myself why did I go on AL.COM and I don't have a good answer.

Until we, or somebody, knocks them off the throne, we're going to keep hearing it. Been doing all my preseason research (Reading Athlon, Lindy's and Sporting News mags while perched upon the shitter) and all you can do sometimes is shake your head. I'm damn glad to get guys like Lawson and Adams and Johnson in our class. But whether you think it's biased ratings or whatever, they're getting several of the top players in the country at every freakin' position. If the latest QB verbal signs this year, they'll have 3 QB's on roster that were Elite 11 players. One mag had 3 running back signees in the top 15 in the country. Just line em' up behind Yeldon. They've got some WR out of Pennsylvania that's listed in everybody's top 5. It goes on and on and on at every position every year. Cheating? Probably. But until someone pops em', you can pretty much pencil them in to Atlanta just about every year.
As for our OOC schedule, frick em'. If I had my way, I'd schedule at least a half way decent BCS team and 3 cream puffs every year, which is what they've been doing forever. Just turns out WSU sucks balls right now. Question, wasn't this game scheduled several years back when we opened with them?

al.com is good for one thing and one thing only, wasting valuable time. Fuck Alabama

If only it was "print" then I could think of one more use for it.

Neil Caudle was Elite 11.

Neil Caudle was Elite 11.
Oh he was at least a baker's dozen.

Neil Caudle was Elite 11.
Yep!

And the point about Neil Caudle being Elite 11 would be......???

That Auburn sucks at evaluating QB's...

Just like Philip Sims and numerous other "elite" QB recruits...the starz mean the absolute least at the QB position. There's just too much intangible involved in that position.

Yep, plus a kid can be a great QB, but misused with his talent set. I think the biggest factor is that at the HS level great athletes often are put at QB to touch the ball every play, and college coaches mistake great athleticism for great QB talent.
-
I'll give you the fact that it's harder to evaluate whether a HS quarterback's talents will translate to success at this level. The point; however, is they aren't signing just one Elite 11 QB. They aren't signing two Elite 11 QB's either. After this signing class, they may have as many as 4 on the roster. Trust me, at least one of them will have been evaluated correctly.

Has $aban come up with a new offense where more than one QB plays at a time? If not, having three or four really doesn't matter all that much. Granted it makes them less susceptible to injuries, but I don't remember their qb going out much lately anyway.
I hate seeing them pull in so many players as much as anybody. And it will probably continue with the 20 or 30 non-coaches that 'bama has working on recruiting full-time. The other teams, hogs included, are just going to have to go out and get the best they can and coach them up. bama had a lot of things go right for them last year, I just don't see them getting all the breaks for another year.

One of these years, the refs are going to call holding on them. I feel like this is the year.
