Title: Book Recommendations
Post by: Townhallsavoy on March 13, 2013, 02:42:46 PM
I'm heading to the beach next week.  Need some book recs.  I'm thinking something from the 60s...something involving drugs and out-of-mind experiences.

Any suggestions?

You can't go wrong with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. (http://www.amazon.com/Fear-Loathing-Las-Vegas-American/dp/0679785892)  It was written in 1998 though.

I've never read any of Hunter S Thompson.  That might be what I get.

I didn't really mean "written in the 60s" but written about the 60s.

Have you read On the Road?  Kind of the beginning of the drug stuff with the beat/jazz guys in the '50's.  Really good, all the characters in the book are based off real people from the era.  The main character (other than the narrator, Kerouac) is Dean Moriarty who is the real life Merry Prankster and Grateful Dead bus driver Neal Cassady who is worth reading about himself.

Dear Penthouse Forums,

I know this sounds a little far fetched, but...

I unzipped my fly and let my massive member spring forth, knocking over a desk lamp......

okay, a half-full bottle of white out...
