Title: It's Malzahn
Post by: Ogre on December 04, 2012, 03:37:14 PM
According to James Bryant of AStateNation.com (who coincidentally broke the news that Malzahn was leaving Auburn for A-State).

Discuss.

Fucking dumb.

We need a homerun hire, someone that's a strong willed ass, that can fix the fucked up situation currently, and compete with the asshole across the state.

INSTEAD, we hire someone that was part of the previously mentioned problem and history repeats itself.  Fuck you Jay Jacobs, Fuck you Gogue, you just set back Auburn 30 years.  Enjoy mediocrity.  We will be having the same God Damn conversation 4 years from now with an even worse state of affairs.

I'm fucking done with Auburn Football.

Listening to Finebaum because I'm an idiot.

He's trying hard to make it sound like Smart turned Auburn down and we had to settle for Malzahn. Also, the NCAA is going to hammer us.  And Malzahn is doomed because he brought in all of the problem kids.

Fuck this state. BUT.  This is one of many reasons why Malzahn shouldn't have been hired.  Too easy to attack.

People within the Auburn athletic department, and those close to candidate Kirby Smart at Alabama, confirmed the university's decision. Smart was told Auburn had chosen Malzhan.

So we turned down Kirby Smart.  For Gus.

Fuck.

Kirby Smart to Tennessee.

al.com is also reporting this, citing sources in the AU AD and also those close to Kirby Smart.  Smart has been informed that it is Malzahn as well.

Auburn certainly could have done worse.  Gus could have remained a rock star and dominated at Arky State.  Not so sure he can do the same in the SEC, but I don't think he's destined for failure right out of the box either.  If he was that terrible, he could have fucked Arky State up.  True, he walked into a good situation where the coach left a good program for a bigger job, but he still could have fucked it up.

You do realize, that he is going to retain Trooper Taylor and others.  The fucking arrests and shit will continue.  We will have no defense whatsoever, maybe have a few 7 - 5 seasons.  Then go 1 - 11 and he will be fired again.  This hire, essentially, is worse then when we hired Chizik.  This is going to fuck us permanently.  ALL BECAUSE OUR STUPID FUCKING FAN BASE AND FAILURE ADMINISTRATION CAN'T PULL THEIR SELF RIGHTEOUS HEADS OUT OF THEIR OWN ASSES.

I had become a huge Smart fan recently.  You can hire a decent OC that can at least make our offense respectable again.  But you have to STOP people from scoring 80 points a game.  You have to instill a system of discipline and get these players refocused on playing competitive ball in the toughest conference in the nation.  Smart's been helping run one of those for years now.  We instantly sign the best defensive class in the nation, bar none, if Smart comes.

But no, we're going to let Gus come in and work wonders with Jonathon Wallace and Kalil (I don't go to class) Faryzher and oh, let's not forget our favorite fetaled up failure, Clint The Whiner Moseley.

Fuck Finebaum in his crimson loving ass.  Yes, the attacks will be coming from the Alabama media.  You don't think they would have said anything had BMFP been the coach?  That argument is baseless IMO.

About a week ago, I told my pops that I truly believed either Petrino or Malzahn could come in and get this team back on track IF they hired a proven DC.  I still believe it!

Pffffttttttt..

You're out of your mind if you don't think combating our state's media is part of the job.  Tuberville was good at it.  Hell, Chizik was pretty good at it most of the time.

Gus has no hope.  His wife is a nutcase.  She went to a megachurch, got on the stage, and blabbermouthed the inside information of our program and players.

Malzahn has recruited multiple players to turn out to be total thugs.

Would Petrino have been attacked?  Sure.  Of course.  No one was denying that, and I even said that should be taken into consideration.  But Petrino, no matter the circumstances so far, has been a winner at the college level.  As OC for Auburn.  As HC for Louisville.  As HC for Arkansas.  He would have won football games after establishing a new culture at Auburn.  That would have shut the media up enough to get our program back.

What can Gus do?  You really think Gus is going to take THIS team and win football games?  With his one year's experience at an already stacked mid-major school?

This is a much, much bigger task than 2008.  Gene Chizik's job when he was hired was no where near this mountainous.

It would have been a powerful move and by his second season we would be competitive and no worse than third in the SEC West whereas now we might linger around the bottom through this hire and the next fail.

JJ only answers to the most influential supporters and they are the only ones that have Gouge's ear. Even collectively, we ain't shit in their minds. It is not a corporation or run like a business. They would starve in that environment. It's a government entitlement mentality and we can kick and scream all we want. But it's done. Best thing now is to continue to try to get JJ fired but if he survived this football season, along with all else, he's looking untouchable. It ain't Gus' fault. My biggest beef with Gus is that he was part of Chizik's program just a season ago.  If Gus had the same success at a different school and went to Arkansas State and then came to Auburn, I'd probably support him.

Agree that Smart > Malzahn, but he was just as unproven as a HC.

Both hires demonstrate that Jacobs suffers from insanity by the very definition: Doing the same thing and expecting different results.

Chizik was a fantastic DC, and a fuckup HC. Because the two are not equatable.

Forty-nine to nothing was a hell of a score
Saban let off the gas or we could have had more
Scored Forty-two points in just the first half
The barn players looked beaten and I had to laugh
I never saw Trooper whirling his sweaty rag
He may have thrown it in like some kind of fag
I hope they keep Chizik, and that is a fact
A billion dollar buyout on a lifetime contract
Hard to believe two years ago they were on top
Now a three and nine season is a big flip-flop
It just couldn't happen to a much better bunch
And you have figure this was the knock-out punch
And what gets even better for their situation
Is they could be staring at some NCAA probation
They sold their souls for one lucky year of glory
Now they reap what they've sewn...End of story

Would you feel the same way if it were Patterson or Smart? The reason I ask is that I wonder if the outrage is more from the BP at all cost supporters. I had Smart and Patterson higher on my list but BP hire wouldn't have hurt me feelings too much.
No. And because of what Awk said. He is from the chizik regime. Wasn't impressed with the personal issues of dyer, pike or d Moseley. He looks no more to be a disciplinarian than chizik. I hope he is but he gave dyer a chance when even chizik kicked him out of the wild wild west. That's bad IMHO.

Mosely was a last minute get to get Sammy Coates? Pike was sent home. Dyer transfered under premise and was also sent home. My stock is not in any of this. It is what GH said. More or less, cutting ties with anything Chizik.

I do think Malzahn can be a good HC for us with what I've pointed out in other post. I still would have rather start fresh with no Chizk attachments.

Irrelevant. Malzahn did nothing to develop Frazier before he left. He had an entire year with the kid. Loeffler was handed garbage with our group of qbs and was asked to do something close to a miracle. Decision making and accuracy are fundamental regardless of system.

Nah, the kid was a frosh coming off a year with Superman. I think Chizik had something to do with that just like Chizik wanted Gus to tone back his offensive play calling.

Quote
On December 4, 2012, the Auburn University football program made a statement, but nobody is sure what it is.

It could be “We don’t have a clue what we’re doing.”

Or it could be “We want a head coach that we can control.”

Or it could be “We asked everybody and literally everybody but one candidate turned us down.”

Whatever the statement may be, Auburn football spoke loud and clear on this day in history, screaming that it is content to stay exactly where it is.

For you see, after firing the only coach to lead the Auburn Tigers to a national title since before the Kennedy administration, Auburn replaced their axed coach with, well, Gene Chizik part two.

The author of the Dipsy-Doo, Trickeroo Offense© is back in town.

Yes that’s right! The head man who was trolling high school sidelines just a handful of years ago, with only one year of head coaching experience…if you call Arkansas State college head coaching experience…is now the head coach in Lee County.

Let me repeat…the husband of Krazy Kristi is back!!!

The creator of sissy football, where we try to trick you rather than line up and play man football to beat you, is back!

And the recipient of this barb from Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran…

…is back!

Tide fans everywhere sat on pins and needles for a few hours as it was unknown if the Tide defensive coodinator Kirby Smart would be offered and/or accept the job. Losing Smart would “smart” just a bit, though it’s hard to imagine true angst over any new head Auhbuhn man with Alabama head coach Nick Saban still at the helm.

But a Smart departure for the Plains would have served more of an in-your-face than a “here-we-come” statement.

Instead, Tide fans are celebrating Christmas early as the baboons in Lee County continue their cultish, fambly ways.

The only time Malzahn’s offense succeeded against Nick Saban’s defense was when he had a once-in-a-lifetime, lightening-in-a-bottle, freak of nature quarterback under center. And that was an improbable, narrow one point win. Luckily for Malzahn, Cam Newtons come along every year. Oh wait….

And the other times?

26-21 and 42-14.

Saban said in his first press conference in Tuscaloosa “We have an opponent in this state that we work 365 days a year to dominate.”

Looks like that job just got a little easier.

I'm surprised that I didn't post in this thread...might've been because I was "meh" on the coaching search. Yeah, I wanted Coach Petrino, but after thinking about the Malzahn hire, I realized that all of his players were still here, we wouldn't have to start all over from a Xs & Os standpoint. Then, when he brought in Johnson, Garner, Horton, Smith, Harbison & Craig and a new strength and conditioning coach...I was all aboard and ready to roll.

That's right. Given the limited info leading to 0-8, I don't think but a few could say they wanted anyone connected to the previous staff. Petrino is a good offensive coach but in totality the magnitude of this turnaround is staggering, especially when you consider every phase of the program this has affected and how the future has been impacted by it.
