Title: Recommendations For Fall Vacay
Post by: Snaggletiger on October 03, 2012, 12:13:46 PM
I've always wanted to take a trip during the Fall somewhere up the Eastern Seaboard.  Years ago, Gatlinburgh (Not exactly the East Coast) was pretty common destination for us before it was overrun with tourists.  But, the mountains are always great when the weather cools down and the leaves change.  Honestly, other than flying up to NY, I've never been farther north up the East coast than North Carolina.  Looking for recommendations if anyone has traveled up that way.  Would love to hit the coast where we could get some good seafood too.  Chesapeake Bay?  I know Charleston is not too far north but I've always heard that city is pretty cool.  Anyone?

I had to work up in Buffalo a couple of months ago and my wife went with me. I bet it would be great this time of year. We spent a couple of nights driving around the finger lakes and visited all the wineries. It was a pretty fun trip. There are 100's of wineries up there and you can go and do a tasting for about $2 per person. They let you taste between 4 and 6 wines. It was a nice relaxing trip without the kids and the scenery around the lakes was nice. Excellent wine up there.

Way too touristy this time of year.  But I hear it's going to clear out a good bit around 2014.
