Ok I admit I am a huge Star Wars nerd. I am also a fan of MMO's. I actually started the MMO thing with Star Wars Galaxies. Originally created by Sony, it had some good points...but mostly lacked any kind of story. Also because they tried to create it during a specific timeline in the Star Wars universe it severely hampered the story and the use of Jedi's. Still it was my original crack. Eventually it got stale and was time to move on....
After that I switched to Everquest II (Obviously not Star Wars Based), while the story was better than SWG it was impossible to level and perks were meh. Played that for awhile until I started what I believe will be the greatest MMO and what all other MMO's will constantly be compared against. (much like the vaunted bama defense of 92). World of Warcraft...it had everything story line, leveling wasn't a challenge, and you were constantly getting new perks. I loved it played it religiously almost every night for 2 years. Had multiple high level characters. Made RL friends through the damn game. As most things though it came to an end, I started to grow weary of the grinding, and to be honest the constant playing started to take effect outside of the game world (ie lack of sleep) so I decided to quit and I haven't played an MMO since. Roughly 3 years.
Enter Star Wars the Old Republic....holyee shit I am addicted again. Just downloaded last week, the new creation team of Bioware and EA, have created an alternate Star Wars universe in which I am sucked into again. While my overall impression is that it is not better than WoW, it is something that can be built upon immensely. If you are into MMO's I highly recommend giving it a look and if you are a Star Wars freak like me it is a must. The story line is amazing and the gameplay is flawless, granted the game is new (released late December) but I have had zero lag issues while playing. The game actually plays as if you were playing by yourself with cutaway scenes that feature gorgeous content and story lines.

Guy at work is playing it, and loves it. My only hang up on those MMOs is the monthly fee I'd have to pay.
I assume you've played KOTOR on the original Xbox?

I did one of the best games I have ever played. Really no comparison between the two though. It does cost $14 additional a month, but I guess I am used to that. I just look at it like another subscription (ie Sirius or Netflix)

I've always been impressed with the games that Bioware puts out, going back to Baldur's Gate and the KOTOR/Jade Empire days (if you can find Jade Empire cheap, it's a great game. Exact same engine as KOTOR, just an Oriental theme).
They are going to be rolling in the money the first half of this year, with Old Republic and Mass Effect 3 coming out on March.

I did WoW for about 3 years religiously too...
I can't get in to another one of those. That shit will ruin you...
But WoW was fucking awesome. I loved that shit. Maybe one of the best games ever created...

I loved some KOTOR I & II on the original X-Box.
Fuck paying $14 a month for a game. I'm not too fond of paying more than $14 ONCE, let alone monthly.

Massive Multiplayer Online
It just means that the game is all internet players, it is a whole online community, items are crafted by players and you quest with other RL players.

Don't think I would enjoy questing.

But you could find a nice pair of virtual shoes that some Trekkie crafted himself.

Speaking of questing don't you have another ring to throw in a volcano?

You'd be surprised...it is pretty much like a lot of other games.

Maybe not questing...but I would guess you would love WoW. Especially with your personality. You can be a complete dick and fuck up others. It's actually quite entertaining.
I used to go in with my druid and just fuck up little towns...

There was only one...
But there are many small dicks in the world for you to take pictures of. Maybe you should worry less about what hobbits are doing with their free time in the safe (thanks to me) Shire, and worry more about taking gay pictures.
