Title: More Postulating
Post by: Townhallsavoy on November 01, 2011, 11:57:01 AM
What if South Carolina beats @Arkansas, Florida, The Citadel, Clemson, and goes on to win the SECCG against the JUGGERNAUT OF THE HEAVENS LSU/Alabama?

Does South Carolina play for the national title?

What if Arkansas wins out and the scenario happens where they go to the SECCG and they win?

Does one-loss Alabama trump Arkansas for the BCS championship game?  Or does Arkansas go on to compete for the BCS title?

Akry was manhandled at Alabama. No way they should be playing for any BCS title this year no matter WHAT happens the rest of the way out.

We are already at 7 billion. Shouldn't we be talking about postulation control instead?

You mean copulation?

You mean copulation?

Yes. too much copulation leads to overpostulation. This causes people to overeconomize their thoughts when populating about who might end up in the bolling games.

I guess you would figure it the same way you figure a tie breaker. Both would theoretically have 1 loss, and Alabama shit-stomped Arkansas.

But would we really go back to 2003 where a team that didn't win its conference championship competes for the national title?

Do we really tell the SEC champion that after five straight years of SEC championships competing for and winning the BCS championship that they cannot go because they lost one game earlier in the year?

None of this is going to happen.  But it could.

Maybe. Who really wants to see USCe get their shit pushed in by OSU/Stanford/Boise? It's a tough situation, no doubt. The only thing I can say is go with whatever the BCS computers/humans/etc decide will happen. For better or worse, it is the system that decides at this point.

I mean, are we doing it for the purpose of the best representation of the SEC, or the purpose of being able to keep a streak?

To some fans, sure. Ours would probably riot and figure out some way that it was an AU conspiracy. Any fanbase would have a portion that are up in arms over being left out. But the reality of it is, only 2 teams can play for it all. Somebody has to be the team left out.

Fun factoid.  Alabama's opponents are a combined 33-34 this year.  LSU's competition has an overall 38-27 record.  Coincidence?  I think not.  You decide when evaluating...THE GREATEST GAME EVER TO BE PLAYED

More food for thought concerning... THE GREATEST GAME EVER TO BE PLAYED

A quick check of the stats for each team against top 25 foes.  Obviously top 25 when they played them.  LSU has played 5 top 25 teams, Oregon, MSU, WVU, UF and Auburn.  Bama has faced 3 in PSU, Arky and UF.

LSU averaged 39 ppg and gave up 14.8 ppg.

Bama averaged 34.3 ppg while giving up 11.6

LSU had an average of 369 yards of total offense while yielding an average of 304

Bama tallied 373 ypg while giving up 233.

One game in particular kind of skewed the averages when LSU allowed over 530 yards against WVU.  Both teams seem to be very consistent on offense, not overpowering, but consistently good.  Bama never gives up anything on defense but haven't quite faced the same overall schedule as LSU.

Coincidence?  I think not.

I think the difference will be in QB play, and LSU has 2 guys experienced in big games.  Not great QBs, but they've been managed well this year despite adversity, and I think LSU's Def. will rattle AJ McBrodie, and maybe even break him in half.

One more thing to consider.  LSU's redzone defense is one of the worst in the nation.  In 16 attempts inside the redzone, opponents have score 9 touchdowns and 6 field goals.

So basically, Bama moves inside the 20 on LSU and they are coming away with points.

Agreed.  However, they'll need to get it in the red zone for Shelley. Pretty accurate but no leg.

Well, 16 redzone opportunities in 8 games ain't much.  If you get there, you better get your points.
