So, who besides me (and GarMan) watched it (or listened in on it)?
And which one of you libertarian, Ron Paul supporters agree that Iran should be able to develop nuclear weapons as he suggested last night?
The dumbest question last night was directed at Rep. Michelle Bachmann from Byron York; will she 'submit' to her husband if she is president? Definitely a facepalm moment as far as I'm concerned. The question could have at least been asked in a less-provocative manner. She did offer a very competent and disarming answer.
I was most impressed with Cain and Romney, along with Gingrich and Huntsman to a lesser extent. Bachmann held her own against Pawlenty's rather weak attacks. He (Pawlenty) was disappointing in my opinion. I like Santorum but he wears his extreme social conservatism like a badge; it is something that will not appeal to independent voters.
-
Unfortunately Gingrich did the best and is probably the most qualified to do the job. However he will never get elected.
Romney is just coasting and being fairly successful doing so.
Bachman, as much as I like her is NOT READY to be president
Cain is a breath of fresh air and I like him. Like Romney, we need a businessman in office.
Even my wife looked up once last night (she is not very political) and said "who is that whack job" when Paul was speaking. There is no way on God's green earth that Paul is the answer to our current problems. Dude is Old and just kind of creepy
Huntsman and Pawlenty are irrelevant

I would have put Gingrich on his A-game last night except for his personalization of the rebuke that he gave to Chris Wallace. What he said was not out-of-line but expressing it by using "you" and "your" directly at Wallace when criticizing the press certainly was un-called-for in the circumstance. Otherwise he was probably the smartest man in the room.
I'm looking forward to Gov. Perry's entrance into the race. He will indeed shake things up.

Rick Perry wins the Republican Nomination. Mark my words, officially.

Well, it certanly won't be Pawlenty.
-
Paul is losing me with his foreign policy stances. He also refuses to articulate a message well. He comes off looking like a milder version of Alex Jones and a kook.
I like Cain still the most. Although he had an avg debate. Same with Romney. Gingrich, economically, probably knows more than anyone on the stage. Just has no charisma.
I dig Bachmann. Moreso than I ever did Palin. She has conviction, gotta give her that.
Pawlenty, Santorum, Huntsman - blahhhhhh.
Rick Perry = GWB with a few slight improvements.
-

I absolutely love Ron Paul when it comes to Economics and domestic policy. He is also big on "less fed and more power to the state" Love it, Love it, Love it!!!! Get the federal gov't out of peoples lives as much as possible and allow the states to worry about things like Education, Civil Unions and Abortion. I agree 100% with that, but.......
I have never been a fan of his foreign policy. He is an isolationist and it can't happen nor is it possible. When he speaks, I agree with about 85% of it (b/c deep down I have a lot of Libertarian tendencies) but it's that 15% that absolutely scares the shit out of me. His foreign policy is horrid and that is being polite. His son Rand, is not like that, and I like Rand a lot more than I ever will Ron.
I thought Newt came across as the guy who "doesn't really wants to be Pres, but wants to be heard." I really felt that way when listening to him speak. I though he was the smartest guy in the room politically, he knows/knew more than anyone on the stage about the legislative process works and how our Gov't should be ran. Maybe his campaign is more for a cabinet position? I just don't get the feeling he is real serious about it.
Cain - Good god I love that man in a non AWK/Vandy Vol/Chizad homosex kind of way. I don't know that he is electable though. I just don't know. I wonder if his lack of political experience will hurt him? Will he know when it's time to take the gloves off and attack? If he does, will he know how?
Bachmann - Thought she did a good job and thought she waxed Pawlenty's ass, but she is not ready. I think she will be painted as another Palin by the MSM and it will kill her chances.
Santorum - Fuck him in da mouf. When he said that Bachmann and Paul were wrong for saying they would have never raised the debt ceiling b/c there are and will be times we need to raise it, just told me that he wasn't serious about spending. Cut, Cap and Balance. Anyone who promotes anything other than that is out for me. His stance on abortion was also authoritarian, fuck him. He apparently hates the states having any power. Once again, fuck him.
Jon Huntsman - Dear Mr. Hunstman:
Please drop out and get in the Democratic primaries.
Thanks,
AUT1
Romney - Still not sold on him, but came across as a cool customer, didn't didn't shook up.
Pawlenty - NM
I like that Perry is in the race. I really think if he gets the support from Christie that I think he will, that it would be a real possibility that him and Christie would be the ticket. I have no issues with that.
I was disappointed in some of the answers on social issues. I think that Bachmann would be the first to give too much detail to social issues and lose focus on the main issue and that is us being broke and having a shitty economy right now. This is where the Libertarian in me comes out, but leave a lot of that shit up to the states. Let the people of the state decide. I admit, it would be difficult with 50 different states having 50 different laws, but it could be done. It's not impossible. Some of it is a lost cause though. You can't legislate morality.

Cain[/b] - Good god I love that man in a non AWK/Vandy Vol/Chizad homosex kind of way.
Our balls have never touched, we have never kissed, and we haven't fallen in love. There's a clear line between bromance and homosexuality, and we have not crossed it.
...yet.

My bad, I thought balls and lips had crossed paths somewhere at sometime. Or that was just some close calls?

Any close call would have occurred between Chizad and AWK. I'm too short for their giant asses...the chances of ball-ball or mouth-mouth alignment is minuscule.

Love Rand. He is the future.
Bachmann - is she ready? Maybe, maybe not. Didn't stop over 50% of voters in 2008.
On Santorum - THIS. Dude was trying to get heard and he tried too hard.
-

Agree with you on Rand. Him, Rubio, Jindal, Ryan and Duncan D Hunter give me hope for the future.
I think Bachmann is a different situation. As bad as it is, being a female is going to hurt her chances bad. They (MSM and libs) will treat her worse than they did Palin and it will kill her. At least that is how I see it playing out.
Santorum was trying to hard on the 10th. If he is unwilling to let the states decide some issues then he has to be for more Fed. Either that or anarchy. I still can't get over him saying there will be times that we will have to raise the debt ceiling. No, no, no. We cut, cap and balance. It's that simple. If you have to repeal something, so be it, but you do no go further in debt to get out debt.
I will never, ever support a Dookie. Not now. Not ever.

I'm afraid I have to take a hard line on Dookies...even in politics.
But, at least Rep. Brooks is not a Moonbat like Rep. Ron Paul.
I still can't believe the support he has after that monumentally stupid foreign policy comment that he made about Iran during the debate! His supporters must be drunk...or stoned.

His foreign policy is the only thing that keeps him from getting my support. As much as I like a lot of his policies, I can't support someone totally with that horrible of a foreign policy.
His supporters are mostly Libertarian and they want us to keep to ourselves. I have talked to a couple that are members of the "Ron Paul Revolution" and they want us to become isolationist. At one time we could have done that, but this thing called the Industrial Revolution came along, spread across the globe and changed how countries interacted with one another. It's also a dumb idea. If you don't get involved then folks like Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union get all the bombs, technology and great toys to destroy you with.

Agree on Iran, but thats part of the quandary we've put ourselves in. He has a point when he brings up the Soviets or the Chinese. Several 'rogue' countries have a bomb. Who decides who can have one? No, I do not want Iran having a bomb, but we kind of set a double standard when we allowed China and Russia to have one also. Iran will always use that as an out. As long as we have some nice technology sitting on every inch of our national borders, no one is gonna touch us with one anyway. IMHO, the Chinese are far more likely - than anyone else on the planet - to successfully hit the US with a nuclear bomb.

GH, I do take the point of this argument well and, under normal geo-political circumstances, it is logical however with the moonbat mullahs of Iran it must be understood that they are not guided by a sense of self-defense, as most national entities are (even the Russians and the Chinese), but by a 'higher' authority which we would recognize as religious fanaticism. This makes them extremely dangerous. Even more-so than the insane, arrogant, little tyrant that runs North Korea.
-
Paul said something about "we talked to the Russians, we didn't alienate them.", and while true, it's a totally different scenario. The Russians cared about living. The mullahs don't, they die, well they die a martyr. The Russians knew that we both had the capability to destroy one another. The mullahs, realize we could destroy them, but once again, they don't care. Not one bit. We can't talk to them the same as we did the Russians. One wanted to rule the world, the other wants to do the will of Allah.
