Never been able to figure out how that is calculated, cause that ain't right.

    My guess is it's based on the number of people who actually bother to fill out the profile info.

probably...I don't think male/female is a required radio button.  Although I also think that some members could be confused as to their gender.  Snaggle comes to mind.
