Title: Pakistan: "We told the CIA about this house in 2009"
Post by: CCTAU on May 05, 2011, 10:41:25 AM
SO how hard was it to show up at this house with about 50 men, surround the joint, and then knock on the damn door? Total BS.

The article I posted yesterday in the long Bin Laden thread was about how in 2007 or 2008, Pakistani forces captured one of the terrorist masterminds behind one of the hotel bombings.

Now, why would Bin Laden have stayed?  If you and I are both bank robbers, and we hole up in a town, and you get captured, my ass is leaving town quick.  Because you are either going to give me up, or the police are going to keep investigating why you were there...

...or the Sheriff is covering for me.

Edit - It wasn't 2007 or 2008 that the other raid happened.  It was January of this year.

At the same time, Pakistani officials and military members are giving conflicted reports of whether the United States had permission to perform the raid.  Some are saying that the Pakistani military was aware of the raid, and that there were even military members ready as backup support for American forces, meanwhile others are saying that this was a completely unforeseen action that violates Pakistan's sovereignty.

Pakistan didn't know about the raid (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/05/us-binladen-pakistan-lobbying-idUSTRE7445GK20110505?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews)

Pakistan did know about the raid (http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/asia-pacific/pakistan/110505/pakistan-army-osama-bin-laden-dead)

If you ask me, Pakistan's worried about the fact that Bin Laden was found within their borders, and they're trying to play it down as if, "Yes, we knew, but we wanted the United States to help us," instead of having people think that they were knowingly harbor Bin Laden.  Looks like they can't get their stories straight.

Sudan also had him on a silver platter in the late 90's.

I know it's anecdotal at best but I find it hard to believe that the Pakis did not know about bin Laden AND this raid.  The fact that the story isn't static is also suspicious.

Pakistan is a loose cannon with nukes that we have to keep a very close eye on and apparently have to 'give' them 'aid' so that they keep their nukes secure along with their nuke program.  This whole situation seems like a geo-political kabuki theater dance; e.g. Pakistan didn't want to anger us in the harboring of bin Laden and we didn't want to piss them off for fear of what might further go wrong with their nukes possibly falling into MORE of the wrong hands (ref. the A. Q. Khan affair a few years ago).

I like to think of it as more of a bukkake dance.

As paranoid as I'm sure Bin Laden was, I just can't imagine him staying at one location for two years, unless he thought he was just that secure where he was. And judging by where he was, maybe he felt pretty secure. The other side to that is, if he felt really secure right next door to Pakistan's version of West Point, there was probably a reason.

Bottom line, somebody high up in the Pakistani government knew he was there. He was their dirty little secret. They knew he would hide in Pakistan, but if he was out wandering the mountains, he would get caught. They didn't want him to be caught in their country, so they hid him somewhere that they thought we would never find him. Now that we found their little secret, they don't know what line of bullshit to use.

Well...it just gives the Pharaoh Obama an excuse to start a fourth war in the region.
