Go fuck yourself.

Plaque and/or naming one of the trees suggestions have been made.

I think we should take the plaque, polish it up real nice, turn that sumbitch sideways and cram it right up their roody pooh candy asses.

If they want to make some kind of futile gesture, that's their option.  I said I had no intention of destroying or vandalizing anything, but if there's some kind of plaque established to commemorate their contribution?  I'll change my answer.

Fuck this. At first it seemed like a nice gesture, and it may have been. But fuck these mother fuckers in the mouth. They keep putting their god damn crimson logo all over our shit and it makes me sick. If you want to be nice, give the god damn money and stop fucking our shit up. Fuck these bastards. I don't want a god damn cent from them.

We need to start a petition and send it to where ever this money is going and say that we don't want it. List all the pictures that they have put with our trees in red and list all the comments about them naming our trees. We could have gooboo's of people sign this thing and then send it to Gouge himself.

Fuck this. Let's create a bookface page against this shit. This has gone too god damn far. What should the bookface page name be?

Again, fuck this shit...

We have received dozens of e-mails from companies and individuals that want to use the Tide for Toomer's name.

We think it's great that so many people want to help this cause. However, we have put a great deal of time and effort into building a trusted relationship between Tide for Toomer's and Auburn University, as well as between us and our donors. Our name as a group and our names as individuals have been widely disseminated in the media and we are simply trying to take the appropriate steps to protect our intent and reputations. As a result, we must ask that groups or individuals not use our logo or the name we have established in the public domain of "Tide for Toomer's" without our express written consent.

The crimson and blue oak trees that have been seen on Facebook and other sites are not, nor have they ever been, affiliated with or endorsed by Tide for Toomer's. These designs were created by an individual who did so independently of any efforts we have made involving the Toomer's Trees and Traditions Fund. Our logo is that which can be seen in our profile picture.

Furthermore, while we are thrilled that so many people are interested in Tide for Toomer's t-shirts, for a number of reasons we have decided not to market any merchandise. This effort was purely intended to encourage donations to Auburn's Toomer's Trees and Traditions Fund and we do not wish to expand it further. Because we are not selling or endorsing any products, you can be assured that we have not and will not profit from this effort. As we have previously stated, all money donated through our page is channeled directly into Auburn's Toomer's fund.

This does not prevent others from making t-shirts or other items to support the Toomer's cause. However, these items should not include the phrase "Tide for Toomer's" or the official TFT logo. Those interested in making merchandise and donating funds to Auburn's Toomer's fund should contact AU directly.

Thank you so much for your continued support!

Sounds like a job for the Never To Yield Foundation.  You know, that stupid frothing at the mouth idea that has no place among deeeesunt Auburn folk.

Can I give you some advice? Don't get so damn caught up in the one or two that don't agree with you. There are several here that do. Maybe not to the extent...but in theory we do. However, when you continue to spend your time arguing with the few that don't agree, nothing will ever get done.

I am with you on the never to yield foundation. I will support it in any way that I can. However, I don't have a lot of time or resources to lead something like this. We need someone to lead. If you are willing, go forth, I will follow.

However, you can't spend your time defending your self against the ones that don't agree. It takes time away from your cause...and it then divides the group even more. Some people will follow you just because it is Pro-Auburn and anti-bama. Keep it positive and stay away from the negative(when dealing with other Auburn folks) and you will gain a lot more followers...

Just my opinion...

Remember that bammer fans also contributed towards the Shon Coleman Fund, and the fund that sent my nephew to San Antonio for the Army All American game.  Should we ask St. Jude's to return that money  because Shon is an Auburn player and we don't want them to say that he would still be sick if not for their donations to St. Jude's?

It's different. And you know it. Bad analogy.

I say we take the money that they gave us for the fund and give it to the academic side of the university. I don't want them having any claim on whatever happens to the trees...

I was just about to post pretty much this same thing.

You're doing the dividing. If someone doesn't want to be involved, no skin off your back. Just move along with your cause. You don't need anyone's approval, and you certainly don't have to bicker with everyone who disagrees.

And this is coming from someone who's with you 100% on this.

Thoughts well taken.

What pisses me off is that the moment those few realized that their stance was unpopular their efforts immediately turned to attacking me (and Prowler) personally.  It stopped being about what we were trying to accomplish and became a referendum on US.

I'm done discussing it with them.  They can stand in the corner.  If it's a success, I'm sure they will join in.  And they'll be welcomed when that happens.  If not?   I'm sure they'll be glad to point that out.

I will do what I can from a technical standpoint.  I can commit some employees and time to development and creation.   Because of some of the personal animosity that I seem to create (oddly not in the real world, but whatever) I truly feel it would be best if someone else assumed the role of "leading" it.

The thing that would be most beneficial would be to develop a mission statement and then have the people here who are on board and also members of other boards to fan out and spread the word.  See what kind of reaction there is in the wider world.   Also get some students involved.  See what the reaction would be on campus.  From what I can tell after talking to a few  students and getting reactions back from a few dozen they talked to?  Students would be on board.

If there's interest, we need to step away from this board to set it up, determine what elements it will contain and then establish a plan to create it.

We've got lawyers to do the LLC paperwork.  We've got accountants to handle the non-profit issues.  We've got web designers and DBAs and graphic artists to do the creation.  We've got financial resources.  We have all the tools we need.

Agreeance.

As I said above, I was reacting more to the derisive personal attacks that were contained in those arguments.  Done now.

Honestly a simple facebook Fan page would do the trick. It would take no resources at all.

Just someone to be the admin.

A lot more people would accept the request to "Like" the page. It's virtually no effort on their part.

Then, the admin can send posts about the latest cause i.e. who to boycott and who to email or call about why you're boycotting.

Teh bookface sparked a revolution in Egypt. It can handle this.

Agree Chad.  And the second paragraph is exactly what Kevin was doing until he got derailed with personal insults by a couple of folks who made it their mission that he wasn't entitled to his opinion. I'm all for this strategy.  I've felt this way for years. I'm just glad to hear someone wants to take some action and do something.

I know little about Facebook, but will be happy to provide whatever I can.

I still think we'd need a legitimate foundation if we were to decide to issue press releases and such.  Maybe not to the level I was thinking before, but at least a page describing the mission and encouraging people to jump in on the Facebook deal.

I'm in.  Somebody step to the front and drive the bus.

What pised you off is that a few of us dared to disagree with you.  Then you started the personal attacks and still got nowhere.  It was never about what you were trying to accomplish, but rather about calling me a Neville Chamberlain.  In reality, despite what you interpreted, all I have done is state that I comepletely disagree with you, but wish you sincere luck in your endeavors.

If it's a success, I'm sure they will join in.

Nope.

If not?   I'm sure they'll be glad to point that out.

And nope.

Good luck.
