Well, we got rid of our satellite provider (DirecTV). And we aren't getting Charter or anyone else.
$90/month per year adds up to about $1080 a year.
We can watch many of the shows we like on the internet in HD. If I use my PS3 for the internet, I can watch my shows on my big screen in HD for free.
I only worry about football season, but I figure we can use some of our extra money to go to more Auburn games. We would also go to bars/friends' houses to watch any games we don't attend. I think ESPN3.com airs a few games in HD as well.
Also, I feel like way too many people watch way too much TV. It's sad that I almost teared up when I cancelled our service. TV has been a daily part of my life since the day I was born. Something seems wrong about that.
Something also seems wrong about me watching on average 2-3 hours of TV per day. Every work day I watch Around the Horn and PTI from 4-5pm. Then I usually watch two or three shows (House, Modern Family, American Idol, The Cooking Channel, House Hunters, sports, etc) per night which equals about 1-2 more hours per night.
Hopefully this will entice more exercise, family time, and creativity.

Cool...can I have your TVs?
-
We dropped our TV service last August. After Auburn beat Clemson I called and got the minimum package that would still include ESPN turned back on.

I am not math major, but I think your multiplication is fucked up...

Quick!
Someone get him an abacus.
Now knowing you will not be saving as much in a years time, will you get direct tv?
-
For those not keeping track it should be $1080 per year. Which would equal maybe one Auburn game for me, perhaps 2 if I came by myself. I like to come by myself.... :rimshot:

Listen I am all for saving money, but why not just drop down to the $36 dollar package?
or better yet, split off your neighbors cable. This can easily be achieve at about 2am with a splitter, some cable ends, and a shovel.

I would recommend spending the extra for RG6 cable in lieu of RG59 though.

It's this damn laptop keyboard. Who the hell doesn't put a number pad on a keyboard? A chimpanzee?
$1080/year, assholes.
-
THS, does PS3 offer the same ESPN service that X-Box does? Basically stream espn3 to your TV through the X-Box.
Now if only I get get the ocho...

RG59 wouldn't be strong enough to carry the signal....seriously though, if you can get over the whole its wrong thing, this is about the easiest thing to do and no one gets hurt.

Setting up some "strategically placed" web cams around some of your wife's favorite areas of the house could actually end up making you money.

See. This man knows what I need. Money making schemes.
What else ya got? The "Spy Neighbor Cam" is one I've been working on.
Or what about TheNeighborhoodBook.com? It would be a social network for thieves, and people set up pages that detail the items in houses of their neighbors.
-
I need pictures of THS wife before I would pay for the subscription, feel free to PM them to me THS.

Does this entail my dressing up as Little Bo Peep?

It's nothing of a sexual nature, I assure you.

Carl is going to Kansas (speaking of Little House on the Prairie) for an entire week at the end of the month, and while he is gone, I doubt if the TV comes on more than an hour a day, if that. I prefer peace and quiet - whereas he has the ^#%$* TV on if he is home. Mindless, brainless channel surfing, just to have the noise. I will read, surf the net, whatever, once the kids are in bed but he HAS to have that damn tv on - he always falls asleep with it on something stupid and I have to try and wrest the remote away from him without waking him up - and if I turn it off? he wakes up and bitches because he was "watching that". Not sure how he could hear it over the horrendous snores coming from his face, but whatever...
There are a few shows I watch - An Idiot Abroad, The Office, American Pickers, Pawn Stars, etc. - but we DVR them all, so we can skip commercials, and I would not just OMGDIE!!!1!!1! if I miss them. I just can't stand live TV anymore - we will generally even pause football games and let them get about 15 minutes ahead so we can cut through the ENDLESS commercials, esp CBS games. And yeah, some of my stuff is brainless too, but I do NOT have to have it on 24-7 like he does. If I lived alone, I would watch MAYBE 5-7 hours a week total, in the offseason. (Football does not count, obviously.) We also don't let the kids watch live TV - we DVR the few Disney shows we let them watch, plus Minute To Win It and Americas Funniest Home Videos - so NO COMMERCIALS. It makes a HUGE difference when we go shopping - no whining for some piece of junk they saw on TV.
So good for you guys, THS. Carl could never do that, but I could.
-
So you're saying that you and THS should be together?
-
Ok now that we heard from the woman back to our programming.
You'll be wearing rubber gloves. Do you own rubber gloves?

Nice. I had no idea who that little chubby chick even was. My mom watched the show. I left the room when it came on.

Will you really have more time and money to attend Auburn games? What'll it take you three days to get there and three more to get back?
obviously somebody with photoshop skillz could have made this classic. AU logo on the wagon, JHS in the background...

I rent 'em. I have a lease with an option to buy.
Generally I expect my clients to provide their own.

Are you showing "Carrie" the twins?...I've got nothing on mine screen but blank.

I lost the remote to the bedroom tv so I haven't watched tv in bed for 2 months. I play some xbox from time to time. Another suggestion is to buy a $10 antanae at walmart. It's good to get HD local channels, that way you can at least watch the weather. There is a retro tv in Mobile at comes over the air that has airwolf, adam 6, andy griffeth, A Team, Knight Rider etc. A friend of mine just got a Divorce and I gave him a converter box and he's been content living off of Regular TV.
