Title: 2 Buck Chuck
Post by: AUTailgatingRules on March 25, 2008, 06:56:52 PM
If any of you are wine drinkers and live in Atlanta, you need to get a hold of a case or two of Trader Joes Charles Shaw Blend.  If you don't know the story, there is a winery in Napa owned by a dude named Charles Shaw, he decided that he could make millions selling good wine to the masses for $2, hence the name 2 buck chuck.  The wine industry in California was furious with him because they were afraid of what would happen to their profits.

While at home for easter my dad gave me a glass of the Trader Joe's private label 2 buck chuck and it is delicious.  I highly recommend the Cabernet, but my pops says all the flavors are equaly as good.  Too bad we don't have Trader Joe's in Birmingham.

My parents are big into wine (I'm a beer guy) and apparently this stuff is all the rage in North Atlanta.

However, they can't stand it. They don't understand why everybody loves it so much.

Not being a wine connoisseur or anything, we frequently drink this stuff.  I can serve it at dinner and the guests don't know the difference.  It's easy on the pocketbook.  And Trader Joe's in general has lots of good food for cheaper prices, especially if you prefer organic food.  I'd like to thank Trader Joe's for their sponsership.

A little bit more expensive but probably one of mine and the wifes favorite everyday wine is Menage A Trois.  They make a red blend (our favorite) and a white blend.  You can usually find it for $8.99 - $9.99

Bunch of fucking wine snobs!

Seriously though thanks for the recommendation AUTailgatingRules et.al.  I've been enjoying some Spanish red wines and port with good cigars lately.

Pounding Franzia while having Menage-a-Trois with Fat Bastard?  Man, you and Ogre are probably too close to one another!

The best $25 dollar bottle I have had in a while is Markam Merlot.  If you want to impress your lady this one will definately deliver.

If you need a cheap but good Champagne, Barefoot is the bomb
