This one is making me nervous. I have been reading some things this week and am nervous that their corners are good enough to lock up with our WR's man to man, and then stack the box big time against the run. If we don't establish a pass game early, I don't like our chances to score like we have been. Also, for some reason, LSU's QB's have a knack lately for playing like all americans against Auburn. 2 years ago, Lee came in and torched us, while looking like a Div-III QB against everyone else. If this happens:
Tigers-24
Tigers-21
If we are able to pass the ball pretty well to start and make the LB's and DL respect our pass game, it is going to be a long game for LSU. If this happens:
Us-38 (at worst)
Them-21

I have been a little worried about their D too. Not as much now though. This morning on Jox they were saying that the best offense LSU has faced this year is MissState. The Bullpuppy O is ranked 55th in the country. I am also shocked that WVU is not ranked higher than MSU, but it is what it is.

Damn you and logic man. I will say this...let them stack the box, other teams have tried. Even a good corner can't cover a guy for ever. Chavis is a blitz guy, Cam excels against a blitz. Cam runs wild...trust me on this. 150 yards running 225 passing 4 Total Tds.
Defense steps up against an anemic LSU squad they won't score 20 points.
Auburn rolls Toomers! Throw an extra one for me.

Godfather's Pizza used to be my favorite but they closed down here.
Even though I put us at 38, I honestly don't think we'll get there. This should be the best overall D we've faced but they're not world beaters by any means. A pathetic UT team had these guys beat and just screwed the pooch on their last drive (UT's drive prior to the infamous "Who's a dumber fuck" drive).
I'm hoping against hope that the Arky game was the one that said this team has put it all together offensively. Cam was definitely the man but they spread the ball all over the field getting big contributions from Fannin, Adams, Blake etc. About the only one that didn't get involved was Litzenfruchenberger. Look for that Saturday. I think 30 points is realistic but our D is going to HAVE to do something...anything. Maybe Roof will eat something rancid tonight and The Chin will take over. One can only hope.

Not a fan of the midget emporer. Recently, I discovered Papa John's meat lover's pizza. (I love teh meat)
I've never been that big a fan of PJ's either but that is one fine pie right there.

Here's the thing...they can't outnumber us in the box in the running game. That's the beautiful thing about having a true running QB. We can spread the field AND run the power run game.
The old way without a running QB: 5 OL + 1 Blocking Back + 1 Ball Carrier + QB no threat to run vs 7 in the box = 1 man advantage Defense
(http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e283/jransom40/2backpower.jpg)
The Cam way: 5 OL + 1 Blocking Back + 2 potential Ball carriers vs 6 in the box presnap or maybe 7 in the box at the snap = either even numbers for Offense, or 1 man advantage for Offense.

What concerns me is the shots they'll be taking at Cam. Not suggesting dirty, but it's going to be a physical game.

You examples are roughly the same though. The only difference is the Sam is split out wider. The Mike is still responsible for filling both gaps in your example.
But I understand your point.
Regardless though, I am not sure if the defense plays their assignments perfectly, that Cam can be stopped by a single defender. Not without a 4 or 5 yard gain anyway.
I think they try and keep Cam from running. I think on the lead options, everyone crashes on Cam. They are going to make 23, or 27, or 5 beat them in the running game and not 2. The good thing is...Auburn can do that...

They are the same play, with one exception. Now it's an option play, where it used to be a straight power run play. They're reading it on the front side. This has become our staple play. It's basically a balanced line version of the Wildcat. They block it power every time, and read the DE or OLB (though I'm not exactly sure which or how). The H can be in the slot or backfield, and they've run different looks. It's just one play, but it's a big part of what we're doing, and they run play action off it as well, and use unbalanced. I was in a hurry and didn't draw it in, but the RT/RG combo off to the Mike.

Mmmmm. Godfather's in Montgomery. Right next to the Radio Shack there on the Southern bypass. I think there was one out toward Eastdale but we never got to go to the fancy smancy part of town.

I love teh peppyroni, teh Ahtalyan sausage, teh Kanadyan bacon and lots of teh cheeze. Godfather's used to put one on you like no other.
Now, the wife has made a couple of trips to Chicago recently and raves over their pizza's. Deep dish in The Windy City as opposed to thin crust in New Yawk.

Oh, and BTW, completely agree...I don't think they can stop us from getting 4-5 yards consistently. Like one "football guru" said on the radio this morning...they may slow us down for a half, but accounting for all our running weapons just wears a defense down. Could be a low scoring first half that Auburn breaks out of in the second half. We've owned the 4th quarter this year, and I think that's why.

Cam finally shows he is human and gets dinged up a bit, but plays until the final drive. Chiz takes him out so he can enjoy the win.
He comes back next week for 6 TDs against Da Bears.

This game scares the shit out of me. I don't think they have the answer on D to stop us completely, but I expect them to slow us down.

Had Texas not fucked up my picks, I'd be pissed at Malzhan right now for only scoring 24. How in the hell does Texas not cover 21 against Iowa State at home? BS.

Looking at the stats and the general game flow, this SHOULD have been 21.

First game of the season where I think we were in control from start to finish, and only a missed FG and a fumble made it where we couldn't stretch the lead out like we should have. Our field position was adversely effected by that turnover for several possessions.

Yes, I think so too. I saw Fannin telling Malzahn to not give up on him.

We were up by a 17-10, and driving. Our next four drives started at our 3, 1, 20, and 10 yard lines. Yeah, it cost us big.

Yep, I think I tried to pimp this too. He's completely shot a shit load of NFL level talent by having one of the worst cases of fumbleitis I've ever fucking seen. From his pounding on the ground when he lost it yesterday, which by the way was caused by a defender merely touching the ball and not a hard hit, it's clearly in his head too. I've watched the guy on blitz pickups and blocking, and I know why they keep him in, but the risks of letting him carry the ball at all far outweigh any potential gain. To that end, if he's not going to carry it, he needs to spit time with Eric Smith doing that job, or just fucking sit the bench.
