Title: Trouble in the Air?
Post by: Townhallsavoy on October 02, 2010, 10:02:20 AM
Anyone in Auburn?

Anyone awake yet?

I'm about to go hiking at Oak Mountain instead of watching the Auburn game.

Is this the common sentiment with Auburn fans?

Oh, how I worry that we may be the laughing stock of college football when I return this afternoon.

This is why you're in last for the battle for the crown.

But if we do lose to LaMo you'll know that it was an intentional mutiny by our players, thanks to RWS.

It's the damn wife's fault.

"Auburn should win against La Monroe, right, honey?"
"Yeah, babe."
"So let's go do this..."
"Sure thing, shnookems!"

Using your own quote as evidence suggests it's in fact, YOUR fault.

Got up early, got my shit done.  ...and now I'm kicked back with a beer, relaxing and the fiance is about to warm up a shitload of the take home hibatchi rice, veggies, chicken, shrimp and steak on the stove top.

Shit's about to get good.  Not a big game, but it's fucking gameDAY.  All day, every Saturday during football season.

You need to teach your woman that, or lock her in a closet until she...  wait..nevermind.

Perhaps it was my fault.

It all worked out well, though.  3 hours of hiking at Oak Mountain and a good ole fashion ass whoopin by the Auburn Tigers.

Cam Newton and Emory Blake are now in the Auburn record book (94 yard TD pass)

Cam is the only QB in Auburn History to throw for more than 2 TDs in the first 5 games as a first year starter.

Auburn has now gained 500+ Total Yards in 6 out of 18 games.  Before Coach Malzahn, it took 40 games to hit that.

Two things that need to improve for us to be as successful as we think we COULD be the rest of the way:

1.  Cam Newton needs to look off safeties, and stop locking on his receiver down field.  Not throwing off his back foot would be nice too.  He's gotten away with a lot of those throws because of his cannon of an arm.

2.  Our pass defense has GOT to improve or get on the same level as our D-line.  Coach Rock has the D-line smoking right now.  The linebackers still seem to be running around lost... a lot.  (in my opinion)

Other than that, I'm pleased with the continued excellent halftime adjustments.  I feel we're as good, if not better with those adjustments than anyone in the country.  Now, if we could JUST couple that with a great pre-game plan......

The opposition takes our safeties away from our corners where they can't respond with help and our LBs are not cover guys putting it mildly. I suspect we will be in the bottom third in that category and have to keep jarring heads and causing turnovers to make up for it and tightening down in the red zone forcing threes. I'm really impressed with the DLine play recently although I think Miss St showed Clemson (a rightside riunning team) how to run AT us. USC didn't follow that lead which is puzzling but maybe Clemson was just a more physical OL.

Sure it wasn't perfect but we did exactly what we were suppose to do. We got a substantial lead and got the second teamers in their in the 3rd quarter, some before that; and we still scored points.

We had guys in there that weren't even listed in the program...I think Chizik was pulling them out of the student section.

There were a couple of guys I wasn't real happy to see like Shaun Kitchens and Kenneth Carter.  I hit the road in the Arky State game to beat the traffic so I didn't see the last half of the 4th and missed some of the young guys playing.  So, I don't know if they had already gotten in this year or not.  However, if they hadn't been in, why burn a redshirt?

Now, Jake Holland...I was glad to see this guy in there and I was hoping he'd break in the rotation sooner.  He's my pick to do some great things out of this class before his career is over.

Plus, he has a fro.

Both Shaun Kitchens and Kenneth Carter have already played this year so no harm done now. I agree about Holland, and to add Curry. We're starting to see these guys contribute more and more. This I like because its giving the starters some much needed rest. It seems to me that these nuggets are filtering in more and more as the season progresses just in time for the meat of our schedule.

I am just happy to know that if Lutzenkirchen fits on the back of jersey, my man cub will have no problem with his last name on his jersey some day...

...the boys' pet platypus, Perry, acts as a secret agent for an all-animal government organization called the "O.W.C.A." (fighting Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz.

Hey nookie, do you know what OWCA stands for?  No Googling!!  I did not know, until I wiki'd it.

Fun fact:  Co-creator Dan Povenmire attributes the show's genesis to growing up in Mobile, Alabama, where his mother told him never to waste a day of summer.

But he went to So Cal... WTF ever...

but after sitting down to watch an episode or 5...i came away feeling this shit is comedy gold.  well, sorta.

You're right about the flamingly gay part but I think that is just because DJ Lance took too many hits of Xtasy in his days. They do teach incredibly intelligent things to the kids like "don't bite your friends" and "there is something yummy in my tummy".
