Cam for Heisman???
Now, I don't think he would win it this year - the ESPN powers that be have already given it to Terrell Pryor or that shoelace moron from Michigan... but Cam is, in my opinion, quickly setting himself up to be one of the front runners for next year. His stats are staggering, his poise and leadership are unquestionable.
So...
Cam for Heisman? 2010 or 2011?? Or at all???
Opine...
Cam Newton's Heisman candidacy was brought up during today's teleconference with Auburn coach Gene Chizik. Surprisingly, Chizik didn't dodge the question.
"I’m not going to act like I’m an expert on that, but I think his numbers certainly grab people’s attention," Chizik said. "In that regard, I don’t know where they’ll go with that, but I think he’s played really well."
Newton has put up Heisman-worthy stats in leading the No. 10 Tigers to a 4-0 start. He leads the SEC and is 11th nationally, averaging 121.3 rushing yards per game.
As a passer, the junior is second nationally in passing efficiency (182.5) and is the first quarterback in Auburn history to throw for at least two touchdowns in each of his first four games.
Newton, who is second in the SEC in total offense (292.0 ypg) has accounted for 14 touchdowns this year (9 passing, 5 rushing).
"He’s done everything we’ve asked him to do," Chizik said. "And the people who make that decision won’t be me. But he’s played really well."

He certainly hasn't done any worse than the other top players mentioned. He also might be the most valuable player for his team in college football. Auburn will most definitely need to win every game though.
Also, he'll have to put up some incredible numbers. More incredible than he already has, because it appears that most writers want OSU or Michigan's QB to get it.

Lots factors in. By the numbers, he's not really in the mix...yet. 18th in the NCAA in Total Offense. Ryan Mallet is #1, Denard Robinson #2, Terrell Pryor #13, and a slew of "non factor" players because of who they play for. Currently Cam is #10 in Total Offense when you're counting kids from BCS schools only. When you factor in stuff like Mallet's 4th Quarter showing yesterday, or that one of the one's ahead of Cam is Crist (the ND QB who will likely have a losing record) I think that if Cam continues on the way he is, AND Auburn is in contention for or going to Atlanta in Dec, then you have to at least mention his name as one of the the guys invited to NY. But, we're only at the 1/3 mark, and getting to the meat of our schedule after this coming Sat. So, it's not necessarily pre-mature, but, it kinda is too.

The Heisman has been dead to me since Manning didn't win it. That year showed the true colors of that award.
-
Cam will have to stay to win it next year. With the lock out he could but without it........But he looks legit to me.

If I am not being bias, I would vote shoeless 1, Cam 2 and Pryor 3 at this point.

Pryor Stats 2010 Ohio St. Buckeyes 4 games 167.2 rating 71/107 66.4 pct. 939 yads 10 TD's 2 Int's. 43 rushes 269 yards 67.3 ypg. 6.3 avg. 3 TD's
They played Miami in a game that he looked pretty darn good. Other than that, the competition has been very weak.

Yeah. His stats are good, but they have been padded big time against no name shit schools. Both Michigan and Auburn have played at least a couple of decent teams.
I will be eager to see what Clemson does against Miami this week. In my opinion, Clemson looked damn good against us. I think they out coached us in just about every facet of the game. If they beat Miami and win the ACC this year, that could be a bigger win for us than we originally thought.

Cam is 43/68 683 yards and 9 TD's and a 182.5 rating. He's rushed 75 times for 485 yards and 5 TD's.
No question Auburn has played much better competition to this point and OSU really doesn't get into anything rough until their 7th game on.
Gotta' say it's pretty cool hearing at least a little Heisman mention and when you look at the stats and what Newton means to this team, it appears to be justified.

If you had only seen it, you would have noticed how the green hues in the tie matched wonderfully with the Vol green gown. It was such a special night too since I was wearing a pair of basque waist pants with tapered legs. Love those. I admit I had to though because I had the gown tailored with box pleats to spice up the drab chemise style.

To those who don't know how football works. A.K.A The Haters: In football the players who do the best get Heisman hype. We're four games in and Cam is ranked 4th in the nation in passing efficiency and 11th in the nation in rushing(3rd in rushing among QBs.) He had over 170 yards rushing alone against the best rushing defense in the SEC. He's polite, humble, a great leader and he gets better EVERY game. I know there's going to be some idiots on here trash talking but I'm trying to circumvent some of that now. If you know ANYTHING about football you won't trash talk. Go ahead. Prove me right.

Damn. I wonder who did that?

The intro song to this is not very fitting though, especially when it would be a Heisman push video. I did like the touch at the end with Cam giving a stiff arm mixed with the Heisman itself. I say we should call upon A96 Productions to get on this. This dude can do it up right fo sho.

Unless this is the ghetto Heisman, I don't think this video helps his case at all......
