Has anyone seen it?
-
no
-
I heard it was number one at the box office, but tanked relative to expectations. It was Ferrell's lowest opener to date.
Can't say I'm surprised. Ferrell as a cocky but stupid athlete was funny the first 12 times, but I've already seen them.
I sound like Kaos. Dammit.

I'm going to see it on Friday and wanted to know what I could expect.

Lots of wacky slapstick humor and 70's references.
-
The sports talk guys here in Houston were really hyping it up - they had a get together last Friday to all go and watch it - then Monday morning they slammed it all to pieces. Said it sucked ass.

I can't recall any movies that have ever been hyped more than his last two, Talladega Nights and Blades of Glory. Both fizzled as quick as they came out. I like a lot of stuff he does but he's just not one of the top funny guys out there.

Talladega Nights was miles funnier than Blades of Glory, but not nearly as good as his earlier stuff.
I think the guy has peaked.
So long, Will, it was fun while it lasted.
-
Gotta' give the guy credit though. I'll bet he's set his saggy ass up for life..and his children's lives...and his grandchildren's lives and on and on....

For sure.
He will always have a spot in my comedic pantheon for playing Frank the Tank and Ron Burgundy.

Don't make me break out some ham and eggs on my jazz flute.
I agree, I think he peaked at either Frank the Tank or Ron Burgundy, whichever came last.

I'm pretty sure Anchorman was the latter of the two.
His SNL work was also rock-fucking-solid as well.
Marty Culp was a madman.

Has anyone ever seen "The Best of Will Ferrell SNL" DVD? There's some bonus footage of his initial audition for the cast. He imitates a cat. I shit my pants when I watched it, and that time it wasn't because of my diet.
-
I have Volumes 1 & 2 of The Best of Will Ferrell. Both of those are comedy gold.
He did a great Harry Carey, and I loved his character on Morning Latte. He and Cheri Oteri (sp?) had great chemistry.

You can expect it to SUCK.
-
His Alex Trebeck, was awesome. How in hell he kept from losing it every time "Sean Connery" opened his mouth is beyond me.
-
He was awesome in Old School, its just these lame ass Will Ferrel is "insert played out sports role" movies that are type casting him. Please, for the love of God, stop.

"Anal bum cover for $200 Alex. And your mom's a whore."
"The penis mightier ..."

That ranks right up there as one of the all time funniest SNL skits EVER.
