Title: GM reports 1.33 billion profit!
Post by: CCTAU on August 12, 2010, 11:14:18 AM
SO how much of that will be paid back. Because if you owe more than you make, do you really have a profit?

Ding ding ding....winner.

I had actually read somewhere in a write up by a Business Writer that Toyota and Ford should sue GM for false advertising in their claims that "we have paid back all of our govt assistance and are now making a profit."  Lie...nothing but a fucking lie.  Ford and Toyota are both turning a true profit and wanted no bailout money and I think highly of both companies for it.

Hell, you (GM) can call it a profit all day long when a steady supply of money is being handed to you. They basically paid one bailout loan back with other bailout loans from an escrow account.

Here's a good writeup on it and how the FTC is getting involved....

Interesting to add to your comment above that the Ford name brand is the highest ranked U. S. domestic auto maker in the recent J. D. Power Initial Quality Study for 2010 (well beyond Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep), 5th place behind Porsche, Acura, M-B, and Lexus.  Without a gubment bailout.

Yeah, I think that Ford should sue but this is the real gut punch to Obama Motors (14th place, by the way, with Cadillac rubbish as the highest entry).

There is nothing that the Gov't runs that is efficient and is not in  financial trouble.

Cash for clunkers?

I think there are a lot of used car and secondary car dealers who would disagree with the 'success' of that program.
