But Saban says it may now be time for a change!!!!!!!!

"What the NFL Players Association and the NFL need to do is if any agent breaks a rule and causes ineligibility for a player, they should suspend his [agent's] license for a year or two," Saban said. "I'm about ready for college football to say, 'Let's just throw the NFL out. Don't let them evaluate players. Don't let them talk to players. Let them do it at the combine.' If they are not going to help us, why should we help them?" AIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(after taking a "short" break) Saban said he also believes that the NCAA should "take schools off the hook (Because being a Repeat-Repeat-Repeat-Repeat Violator doesn't look good on the NCAA's desk)" for the actions of agents and players. In the end, however, he points (his tiny finger) at the former.

"Right now, agents are screwing it up," Saban said Blasted. "They are taking................

Umm...Coach couldn't complete his thought because a vein, in his forhead, exploded all over the podium and sprayed over a few reporters who where kneeling underneath him.

Okay, he's regained consciousness.....

They are taking the eligibility of players. It's not right that those players do the wrong thing. We have a great education process here. We have a full-time worker who meets with players and their families and does everything else."  (Hmmm...."everything else"?)

University of Alabama officials are investigating whether junior defensive lineman Marcel Dareus broke NCAA rules by attending an agent's party in Miami's South Beach earlier this summer, multiple sources told ESPN.com.

Dareus, ranked as the No. 7 prospect for the 2011 NFL draft by ESPN analyst Mel Kiper, is the latest prominent college football player to be entangled in an evolving NCAA investigation into illegal contact and conduct by sports agents.

"Our [university] compliance people are looking into it," Alabama coach Nick Saban said. <---

The NCAA is trying to determine who paid for the players' transportation to Miami and lodging, food and entertainment while they were there.

Coach little bitch knows that it isn't a good thing to have the NCAA snooping around, especially with a shitload of "extra ammo".....Who's willing to bet that there were more than one SPuat player at the agent's party in Miami?

This topic is about your players cheating.

Your topic was about burning your cake, as best as I could tell. You have an unhealthy food fixation, by the way.

This also happened before the National Championship game.  The Pouncey twins were at the party and the party was after the SEC Championship Game and before their Bowl Game.

Therefore, if Marcel accepted ANYTHING from the Agent...transportation, lodging, food, cash, etc. or actually agreed to have him represent him by either signing a document (could be something as small as a napkin) or verbally (would probably have to go to court for that)....then he would be ruled ineligible for the National Championship Game and therefore SPuat would have to forfeit or vacate their Championship.

If the NCAA uncovers that SPuat boosters/supporters/fans paid for Marcel's travel...or an Assistant Coach paid for expenses, well then, SPuat won't have a football team for a few years.

In the words of the immortal Bernie Mac (God rest his soul), " Oh Laaaawwwwd!"

In all reality, I'm thinking all that will come of it is the player(s) will be required to reimburse travel expenses and be suspended for a game or 3. Hopefully, I'll be suprised with tougher action.

So do you think that this was a one time thing?  If it was then, he'll just be suspended for a few games...unless he agreed to something, even then he'll probably just be suspended until the week before the Iron Bowl.  Isn't there a financial stipulation that states that if a player is paid over X amount, then he'll be ruled ineligible?

Depends what and how much he received.  If he received a fishing trip then he'll have to repay it.  Same as a plane ticket or hotel room.  Repay it.  If he received money for a contract - gone.

The real question - If Dareus or any other Bama player is caught accepting illegal benefits, will the NCAA have the balls to consider the fact that Alabama is on probation?

Pretty sure that a player can accept a free jet and the NCAA could give less a shit until the player then plays in a game.  This happened during the off season and Marcel won't play until the NCAA says he's paid the amount back.  If he took a million dollars from the agent and doesn't play again, it simply means he's now a professional who never played in a college game again.

So then the next step is to discuss how this affects your team.  Because from all accounts in Bama nation, Dareus is a sure-thing top five pick and a main reason why the defense won't miss a step from last year's juggernaut.

But let me guess, there are three other guys just as good ready to step in.

If any benefits were given to him by a booster, for example, then Alabama would be in a world of shit. If it were by an agent or somebody acting on behalf of an agent, depending on what was given, Dareus would face anything from having to pay a monetary amount back, to being ruled a professional. What we're talking about here is him attending a party thrown by an agent. If this agent didn't pay for any of his travel, lodging, etc, then he will probably be in good shape. If otherwise, he MIGHT have just ruined his college career. I think we're going to have to wait and see exactly what took place before we know where in that spectrum he might fall.

Hopefully this will be a good lesson to others on the team, and across the nation. The agents don't give a shit about screwing the schools these guys come from. They don't really give a shit about the kid either. All they care about is the Benjamins.

Are you shitting me? You just don't get it, do you? It's pretty obvious that Saban owns Petrino. Alabama has beaten Arkansas' eyes in the past few meetings, and that isn't looking like it will change anytime soon.

One of our saving graces is a healthy Dont'a Hightower. If we lose Dareus, that will be big, sure. Especially with a brand new secondary, a good pass rush becomes even more important. I don't think we have another DL that is 'just as good'. We have a few on the roster that are pretty good that could step in, but no, we don't have another Marcel Dareus, imo. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill.

If Darius winds up ineligible, it will be a big plus for Mallet. He won't have to worry about being speared like Colt McCoy.

And then......this is how a coach who doesn't blame everything on everyone else answers the question about agents:

Quote
Chizik also addressed the hot topic of Media Days, NFL agents. Chizik said Auburn's compliance department should be credited for keeping the Tigers' players educated on the rules regarding agents. And if a player breaks those rules, there is only one person to blame.

"The way I see it, a lot of this has to go back on the young guy," said Chizik. "He has to have an allegiance to his school, to his teammates, to his coaches. I think everyone probably does a pretty good job of trying to educate their kids, but if the kid knows right from wrong and they choose to do wrong then they don't have those allegiances."
