"The recommendation to give Code Pink a parking space for protesting and a free sound permit was brought by council members Linda Maio and Max Anderson ...Anderson, a former Marine who said he was "drummed out" of the corps..."

No personal agenda there.

"We are confronted with an organization that can spend billions of dollars on propaganda," Anderson said."

Apparently those Super Bowl commercials are REALLY expensive.

Dumbass.

:jaw:  If that's not one of the most unfair and unjust things I've seen in a while, I'm not sure what is.  It's too bad they don't have a stash of artillery in that recruiting station to use on Code Pink for target practice while they're practicing their yoga positions on the sidewalks.  Total BS right there.

I'm not surprised...it is Berkely we're reading about...but it is a damn shame.  I have to wonder what excuse they'd use to harass the Corps with if they didn't have the War in Iraq to bitch about.

"The First Amendment gives the City of Berkeley the right to be idiotic, but from now on they should do it with their own money."

DeMint said he will draft legislation to rescind any earmarks dedicated for the City of Berkeley in the recently passed appropriations bill — which his office tallied to value about $2.1 million. He said that any money taken back would be transferred to the Marines.

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC)

That is fucking phenomenal!!!  This guy out to be running for President!!!

Thanks for posting that article kirkAU!

even though he isn't my senator, i'm thinking about writing him a letter just to tell him he's the shit.  Hippies, (as Chad says so frequently) suck, and they piss me off.  I'm hoping the legislation gets passed, and the appropriation bill is adjusted accordingly.  It'll send a small message: 1. the Fed doesn't have to give you any money 2. if you spit on the Marines (the Marines that provide the freedom to spit on them, damn hippies) you'll get denied federal dollars, and 3. the rest of the country (99% of us, including democrats) hate hippies and code pink, if ya'll don't like our military, or our government, or our country, buy a one-way ticket to anywhere but here.

also, i'm going to write sen. shelby and sen. sessions and encourage them to vote for the legislation.  (remember, our senators work for us, not the other way around).

if i see any updates, i'll continue to post them

Amazing what happens when there's (a lack of) money involved.  Thanks for the update.  I was hoping for the John Kerryesque I'll-switch-my-stance-to-please-the-masses to take effect sooner or later with that dimwit mayor.

check out the end of the article and look at what else the city council is considering.  shouldn't a city council focus more on city matters?

They will do anything to be perceived as the most left-wing entity in the US.  I hope their funds are cut.
