Had forgotten that this Ohio born two sport Woody Hayes pupil and Lou Holtz protege was hired by LSU as Charlie McClendon's successor. But Rein died in a plane crash on January 20, 1980 without coaching a game for LSU.
Such an eerie ending... to be on a recruiting trip in Shreveport only to drift off course into the Atlantic over Raleigh, NC. How in the hell does that happen?
