Title: Pele
Post by: Snaggletiger on December 29, 2022, 02:26:39 PM
Yeah okay, it's soccer.  But worth noting that Pele passed today at 82 years old. Back in the day, Pele was as famous an athlete as there was in the world.  Didn't matter if you watched, or even cared about soccer, everyone knew who Pele was.  He was superior athletically to most of his generation, and one of the first to make famous, the bicycle kick.  Everyone knew Pele as that guy who could flip backwards and keek dee ball for dee gooooooaal.

I wonder if this thread would have garnered more interest and reaction had someone else, really anyone else, started it.

Just here for support… and to talk about anything besides soccer.

Kiddo is in Ellijay, GA tonight, which is the home of Doyle Dykes. Brother Doyle can make weird things happen on the geee-tar if ya care to take a listen.

Going to take the bride to Firebirds tonight, then am going to give her my Firebird.

Changed the reservation to Bonefish, because I’d rather give her that.

A vagitarian myself.

The other day, I pleasured myself to Mrs. Butterworth. And she got me there. She got me there fast!…Talk about a river of ejaculate.

Now I know what those sad villagers in Pompeii felt like! Except, instead of hot lava raining down, I rained down frothy ejaculate!

As a kid in Alabama in the 70s, you knew of Pele. He did things unseen before him. Won a World Cup at 17. And was generally known as the most badass soccer player in the world. I’ve never been a soccer fan, but I can appreciate greatness when I see it.

Agreed. I don’t know a thing about hockey, but I could watch him on the ice and still know I was watching greatness.

Yes. I have always heard that soccer is popular with the gays.

Funny thing.  I know of Gretzky and of Pele.

Never saw either of them play a game.  Even on TV. Only knew of them through highlights.

I remember hearing over and over that Pele was going to force soccer down America’s throat. He would bring it to the masses and make us forget all about football.  He didn’t.
