Title: Big Cat Weekend
Post by: Snaggletiger on July 07, 2023, 09:44:02 AM
BCW is late this month.  I was searching for a list of recruits who will be on teh Planez, but I can only find a few articles about individuals. Obviously, 5* WR, Perry Thompson, will be there.  Also, 5* Safety, KJ Bolden will be on campus.  Can't find much on others. Anyone have any inside scoop on the guest list?

I have a good feeling about this one. Despite losing out on a couple this week, there are still a ton of big fish out there.  And U Free and company flipped some, including Keldrick Faulk last season.  Maybe they can flippity flip a few more.

Daddy like. I wonder if Coleman will come anyway.  After all, it's all about business.

I don't think his recruitment is over but I also don't think Aggie is gonna let anyone outbid them. Sometimes it's about more than that with kids. Ie - what if Jimbo and Staff (Petrino too) get canned after going 4-8? Is 800K from Aggie really worth that much more than 600K from LSU or Auburn? To me, no.

24/7 has a running list in a thread  that seems to be a little larger than the AUF list.

Quote
Big Cat is back under Hugh Freeze.

The first-year Auburn staff is already hard at work getting recruits to attend the annual recruiting event, with this year's set for Saturday, July 29. To get ready for the event, Auburn Undercover is starting up its running list of visitors planning to attend. Keep in mind, this list is fluid and names will be added — or removed — as we inch closer to the event. The list won't be truly final until a day before the event, and don't ever count out a surprise visitor showing up the day of.

Also remember, this is Auburn Undercover's list and NOT Auburn's list. These are just the names we've been able to confirm so far, this is not the list that Auburn has right now. Auburn's list is much bigger. Auburn Undercover's list will continue to grow as the month goes on.

Yeah. Every time a new commit is announced, I notice its not a fat boy. Plenty of 4 stars, no fatties.
Was it really Gus, or is it Auburn?
Or will we live through the portal regarding fat boys?

You win some, you lose some. It hurts badly but Davis Harsin has committed to the Idaho State bengals. But fear no more fam, as Walker White is a solid backup plan to not landing the gold loin DNA of Byron Haskins.

He set a commitment date of August 5, I think.  Will be here for Big Cat then will take 1 more visit.

Florida State is the team to beat for his services according to rumor.  I hate Florida State right behind UGA and Bama, so I hope we continue to stick it to them like we did with Keldric.

He should be announcing in about a week and we get the last visit. That would be enormous.

BTDubbz - Deandre Carter's arrow is going up. Thought to be a long shot 2-3 weeks ago, the kid really seems to like Auburn more than most expected. Would also be enormous. I would give the Tigers of Awbren a fighting 50% chance at this point.

Keep an eye on the WR out of Foley - Perry Thompson, and also Malcolm Simmons. I could see them and the Louisville committ (Duke Watson) pulling the trigger soon.

Yella fella needs to keep the bag man fully stocked.

My old ass walked across the Beard Eaves stage in the mid 80's.  One thing that has never stopped since the moment I left, are the massive construction projects.  Virtually everything about the campus, and now the downtown area, have been reshaped and remodeled.  That includes all the athletic facilities. When I walked on in baseball, the stadium consisted of aluminum bleachers and chain link fence.  You could watch a game from the sidewalk.  While I was there, they built the upper decks in JHS.  The renovations have never stopped, and continue today.

Now, I say all that to also say, I don't know how I feel about all that.  It's like it's not the same campus or town; however, they've still had a way of keeping the look of the quintessential college campus, while modernizing everything at the same time.  Especially given the addition of the football only facility, I can really see where recruits would take one visit, and instantly fall in love with the place.

I've toured a few campuses in my day, and have yet to see anything that remotely rivals teh Planez.  Signing with FUGA has to be all about the $$$, because that place is a fucking cesspool, and the stadium is one big bowl of MEH!!!! LSU, daddy like.  Tennessee?  WTF ever.  Ultimately, I believe that now that we seem to be solidly in the NIL game, the Auburn experience should seal the deal for a lot of these guys.

Since I was raised there, met my wife in middle school there (I was in middle school too), and having family that still lives there... It will always be home.  Home just looks a lot different now in certain areas.  Downtown Auburn has lost a lot of its charm & now looks like a Cincinnati lite.  The economic growth can only be good for the place we love, though.  Just a shame it had to be so drastic visually.

Yep, other than that little stretch of College right there at Toomer's Corner, downtown Auburn is a totally different place.  But, I will have to say that despite the nostalgia, and wanting to hang on to the "Auburn I knew", that city is badass, and there's a shit load of money that's poured in.  There's so many neighborhoods that you drive by and go, "Who got all dat damn cash?"

Some of my in-laws moved there a couple of years ago, and I guess they answered that question.  I'll go up there on game day and say, "Naw, y'all go on to the game.  I'm gonna' hang here at the crib and watch the place for you.  Bad element up here, and all that."

I know those law books mean a lot to you, but not out here. Out here a man settles his own problems.

Malcolm Simmons is the first domino to fall on the weekend!

Hugh Freeze and this staff are responsible for sending shockwaves throughout the college football world today. 3 major recruits committed, and 2 other major recruits with something to think about very seriously.  A big hearty, unnoticed welcome to Riddick, Simmons & Thompson

With KJ, he stated his last phone call would be with Hugh Freeze prior to commitment, which makes me think he is giving Auburn the last opportunity to sway him from the Noles.  Landing him & Carter is the finale of a statement this staff needs to make to put the current premier teams on notice that we aren’t going anywhere. I don’t know that we will ever have a long-term dynasty of excellence in our lifetimes, but we certainly will witness and be an integral part in the likely better part of a decade of Auburn Football making some significant noise.

Riddick, Thompson - all these guys are great. But KJ bolden is a program changer. I hesitate to say he’s a generation talent but that’s what he is. To me he’s up there with the great safeties I’ve seen come and go through major d1 programs. Absolutely a Day 1 starter, future sunday player. Landing him would be next level.

All major services have auburn now firmly at 13-16th in rankings with only about half the class filled out. All other teams in the top 15 are full or mostly Full other than Bama who is also around the same spot and also with 14 commitment. It’s just July fellas. This could get fun.

My sources are saying that we will flip the Thompson kid from Bama. They also feel good about Riddick.

Yes, I heard it from you. This doesn't surprise me. Riddick/Thompson seem to have been silent commits since June. My guess is the 3 silent commits is Bolden and two OL.

TJ Lindsey???  I thought that tall mofo left the program after the no helmet incident. Dude couldn't hit the broad side of my ass from 5 yards away.

On3 seems to have him going to the good guys. 80 plus percent.

Yes, yes and yes.

It's the Good Guys and those who wear the Orange of the sun. Hometown team is not in the running which I find hilarious. This guy is a top 20-40 national player (although that varies among services), Number 1 at position (also varies), Number 1 in Miss. Would be a big big get. Somewhat on par with Derick Brown.

On3 currently projecting 60% to the good guys, 30% to UT, and 10% to the field.

I am a fan of that player comparison!  If we exceed expectations on the field this year, especially like my sunshine pumping ass thinks we will, then watch out.  Top 5 class could be on the horizon with some major flips as we approach ESD.

Ole Miss seems to be making a strong late push here - $$$. Will the good guys match it or bid high enough to zero out OM NIL fund?

On3 currently projects 55% AU,  39% OM,  6% the field

It appears ole miss blew their nil pot on Franklin to spite auburn. In a bit of a last minute bid, ole miss pulls off a shocker. But I don’t think his recruitment will be over until December.

Hopefully he’ll change his mind for the better. One program has a far better outlook than the other, which I think has topped out based off history, and far more opportunities for additional NIL than what is initially signed for. Auburn will win another natty in the next decade the way it is going. Would be smart for these top flight chirrens to attach themselves to that upcoming  greatness.

The back story on HOW we got him is legit. Basically, their momma is very impressed thus far with how the staff has treated her and Keldrick and have delivered on every promise. TL;DR...momma trusts the staff and so does lil bro. A LOT...And its showed.

Commitment watch today at 12 EST....dude is a little underrated and under the radar. High 3 star, in reality is probably a 4 star and will reflect as much by year end. Rivals already adjusted him to 4 star a few weeks ago.

Dimitry Nicolas out of Miami. Big dude. Plays big boy football in south Florida so I like.
