Jerry Springer dead at 79. I never got into his show, but at one time it was more popular than...drum roll...Okra Winfrey.

Not gonna grave dance here because I have said this before he died, but Springer and folks like him - the lowest smut carnival barkers - are half (if not more) the issue with society's moral decay. The crap they peddle(d) to bring society down to the rural wal mart, trailer park level way of life- has had an effect.

Somewhere we went from mocking the people who were on his show to celebrating them.

And they were willing to let themselves be exploited for a few mins of fame and some small compensation. The way it was done was shameful. Ive seen a few behind the scenes docs on it and it was awful. He wasn't solo by any means but he was the king of it that took it to a whole other level. It was simply new aged, amped up carnival freak shows he put on display so that everyone could get their jollies off misfortunate. Call me old fashioned but I think it had a terrible effect on society - I don't care what race, religion or political side you lean to.

When I was stationed at no hope Pope, we'd watch Maury during downtime (it was the only channel we had) in our Mobilization exercises with the 82nd Airborne. He was the "not the father" king indeed. Never watched Jerry, and never would have watched Maury had it not been for the circumstances.
