This came across my facebook feed today (sorry for the shitty link, but I can't find the video anywhere else):

It's Prince and (what would become) the Revolution, debuting "Purple Rain" at First Avenue in 1983.  I had no idea that the album version is a (mildly) dressed up version of this live performance.
