That's not why you avoid anything.  You just don't like having your ass served to you on a silver platter.

You hate all the positives coming out of this president's administration in a short amount of time. You despise seeing the evil you apparently endorse being shoved back where it belongs.  Why you support unfettered, undocumented immigration; why you endorse transgender ideology being forced on children too young to make rational decisions; why you loathe the Christian bedrock of this nation's core values; why you embrace the perversity of men in women's lockerrooms; how you could support the unbridled grift of the Obama/Biden/Harris/Pelosi/Schumer cabal; how you can possibly think that Kamala Harris was intellectually or morally capable of running a Burger King, much less a country; how you can pretend that Biden was even remotely mentally competent; how you can support your tax dollars being squandered by thieves like Stacy Abrams; how you can back a globalist/marxist agenda (and an Islamic one as well) bent on demolishing everything that makes this country great.... all of those things mystify me. You're better than that.  As you've often chided others... Do better.

That's why you hide now.  All of the demonic agenda you support is being torn limb from limb.  You cannot stand to watch America - Red, White, and Blue America - fight back against the forces of hate and division you've aligned yourself with.  You cannot stand winning.

Deal with it.

This is all so backwards, wrong, and misinformed.

This administration stands for nothing but lawlessness, cruelty and corruption.

All demonstrably false.  It's why I pretty much avoid this place now.  Y'all are living in an alternate reality.

Just today, the demonstrably false actions are confirmed:

"U.S. and Chinese officials said Monday they had reached a deal to roll back most of their recent tariffs and call a 90-day truce in their trade war for more talks on resolving their trade disputes."

That is called "negotiation"...

So far it has countries lining up to negotiate. Manufactures are talking about the orders rolling in. Trillions in investment. As soon as douchebags like you stop defending our enemies and start supporting the US and its citizens, the ball will pick up even more speed.

Broun Hall / MobLand
« Last post by Kaos on May 11, 2025, 04:47:28 PM »
Streaming on Paramount

I'm a sucker for mob movies/shows if they're done well. This one?  It is.

Mobland follows the Harringtons, a British mob family who end up at war with the rival Stevenson family over something (fentanyl, I think) but there are other things that precipitate it.

Pierce Brosnan is really good as Conrad, the lecherous patriarch of the Harrington family. Helen Mirren is his equal as the scheming (maybe?) and duplicitous (perhaps?) Maeve, matriarch of the clan. I'm not typically a fan of Tom Hardy's work, but he's pretty solid here too - without any ridiculous affected accent - as Harry, the Harrington's heavy-handed fixer.

It borrows from The Sopranos. It borrows from Godfather, Casino, Goodfellas, Brotherhood, Peaky Blinders, and Boardwalk Empire. But it doesn't borrow from any of them in a deriviative way. It just repurposes little pieces of things and parts of characters that work.  There are elements of Tony Soprano in Harry, slivers of Livia in Maeve, drops of Junior in Conrad, and nudges of Carmella in Harry's wife Jan. Harry and Jan's daughter has a touch of Meadow in her too. But it's not so much that it's overbearing.

It also swipes from Game of Thrones in presenting the most detestable, punchable-faced kid who would be king Eddie, the grandson of Conrad. He's the smarmiest worm this side of Joffrey Baratheon Lannister.

The story starts with a bang - literally - but it takes a little bit to put all the pieces together.  Seven episodes in and there are still people (Maeve in particular) playing angles I haven't quite figured out yet.

I like Tulsa King. This is way better than King in every way. It's well scripted, well acted, well filmed. It's a little dark (and I mean that in two ways - brutal and the lighting is dim/gray-blue which I guess is what I think England should be).

It's not Sopranos - nothing is.  But it's still a pretty good watch. No, it's better than pretty good. Curious to see where it goes.

I heard this was originally intended to be a prequel to the Ray Donovan series but that idea was scrapped early on and it became its own separate entity. Glad for that. I never watched Ray Donoval and likely wouldn't have picked this up if that's what it was.

Summer of '69
- Streaming on Hulu -

I don't know why I watched this.  It popped up on my Hulu feed and I just let it finish. Maybe I kept it going for no other reason than to see whether Chloe Fineman (an SNL cast member who doesn't completely suck) has any potential other than sketch comedy. For whatever reason, I let it go.

The story is kind of ridiculous. A chubby, frizzy-haired teenaged girl fantasizes about getting with a good-looking kid at school. In real life?  Less than a zero percent chance.  But this is the movies - movies that seem hellbent on pairing people who'd never have a modicum of interest in each other, all in the name of diversity.

Frizz head hears from her high school mascot that the object of her desire is a big fan of "doing the 69."  In an effort to gain knowledge before she (I guess?) throws herself prostrate at his feet, Frizz head engages the services of a local stripper (Fineman) to learn about all about sexual confidence and doing the 69 deed.

Early on, I thought there were some similarities to Risky Business - a concept the script acknowledged by leaning heavily into the comparison later on.  It sneaks in nods to several other of the 80s films that made up the genre.

There are a lot of common "coming of age" topics that are addressed in the film, but it takes things too far. It's too crude, too vulgar, too much.  On top of that?  It just isn't funny. It's not funny enough to be a comedy, it's not deep enough to move you. It just doesn't work. Part of that is the lead girl. Frizz-head just isn't really likeable. She fails to project any of the attributes we really need her to have, and there's nothing - absolutely nothing - in her character that would make the guy she pursues remotely interested in her.

Fineman isn't bad, actually. She just needs to find a better vehicle to showcase her talents. Her way-too-long scene where she's stripping and holding onto her heels is pretty sexily hot, frankly, but it's out-of-place in what's supposed to be a movie aimed at teens. It just takes things a step too far.

I think Fineman has potential. She shows flashes of talent. Frizz-head has none. Zero. The movie is predictable.  It didn't make me want to vomit, but I can't really recommend watching it.

Nothing but chicken little sky screaming from "the price of eggs didn't go down in three days" crowd.

They do not understand the art of negotiating from a position of strength. They prefer their leaders on their knees deep throating foreign interests.

Well. That has been the policy of the last two liberal presidents.
