This year feels like an underachievement to me. I expected 7-5 or 8-4 in the regular season, and I think most fans felt that way as well. We were highly competitive in most of our losses, especially against our biggest rivals. But almost winning feels a whole hell of a lot like losing.
What are reasonable expectations for on the field product, and wins/losses in year 2?
Sincerely,
Someone tired of losing more than we win

Snake - truth be told this was never a 7-8 win team with the roster, schedule and turmoil from last fall. The fact that we had a chance to win 7 (and should have) was a little bit of overachieving from the defensive side and a lot of will power all around some games. Running game was skrong. Real skrong. But on paper, we were absolutely a 4-6 win team. Vegas and most experts had us right at 5-6. Some even had us at 4 with 0-1 sec wins.
Hold your head high. I know close doesn’t count in this game. But close did show us these guys had a ton of fight in them and for that I was glad. No moral victories here but I’m damn sure glad we pushed uga and those mfers from T town to the brink. Like dye said in 81 - you keep playing like that and fighting? You’re gonna win a lot of games at auburn.

We all saw what took place as Tub's left transitioning to Gus.
This year 2 staff will want to succeed bc this is their livelihood. Their resume's are built on the talent they bring in.
Nobody wants to fail.
And having seen the divide they know what it takes to narrow the gap and will get it done.
Some of my favorite Auburn teams over the years were not championship caliber, not even close. Other's came close only to have it snatched away.
That's already been discussed ad nauseam.
We'll be fine. The difference between hope and reality can be measured by hard work and a handful of difference makers and Auburn will find them.
No doubt about it.

Well, let's look at the schedule if we're setting expectations:
Cal
UNM
ULM
@Bama (this is going to be fucking weird)
Arky
Oklahoma
A&M
Vandy
@FUGA
@UK
@Mizzou (hate ending the season with this game...especially in CoMo)
So, the "should wins": Cal, UNM, ULM, Ark, Vandy
The "lean" Ws: UK, A&M
The "lean" Ls: Bama, OU, FUGA, Mizzou
I think we take all the "shoulds" and split the leans...so 8 wins, is my expectation.
Schedule taken from here: https://fbschedules.com/2024-auburn-football-schedule/
No idea if it's legit.

I see where Alabama has an extra non conference game against Wisconsin on its schedule giving them 12 games. We only have 11 as of now.
Did I miss something?

..,
The Alabama game is still at the end of the year. The other SEC games are TBD.
We only have 11 games because we still need to add another cupcake. I vote for Liberty.

12-0 Liberty?

That bama game at four sucks.
The last game of the season should be the iron bowl.
It’s a last chance rip your guts out game.

Is this confirmed?

Is this confirmed?
They only have 4-5 confirmed dates for the 2024 schedule at this point. The Iron Bowl is scheduled for November 30th, so it's still the last game. They know who we play, just not when for the rest of them.

Reading is fundamental. It is still the last game.

Fuck yeah.

Write the check.

Fuck yeah.
What if their qb goes back to Knoxville?

I just assumed this list was in order. Is that not reading in America still today.

Then look at the actual link that shows a date for OOC games and the Alabama game and TBD or whatever for the rest. Don’t believe just what Wes posts. He’s a fucking lawyer. And he doesn’t even care.

It is 100% impossible to project anything about the 2024 team when half to 6/9 of the roster will change along with expected staff changes. That churn also impacts every team on the schedy.

There should still be a standard/expectations from fans from year 1 to year 2, I think. Especially with the amount of money being poured into the program & now players.

Dec. 13 at 7 ET on ESPN and SEC Network - SEC Schedules will be announced. Like, the deets.
