Title: Wes' little brown bag of happy plants
Post by: Snakebite on September 11, 2023, 05:47:46 PM
If you were to hypothetically partake, and wanted to laugh until you cried, what movie are you putting on?

Looking for obscure or somewhat lesser known comedies that I haven't seen.  And even if I have seen them, I am curious of the different types of humor on here and what the individual personalities gravitate towards.

For me, I'd try for Grandma's Boy or The Other Guys.  Maybe even Wrongfully Accused or Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. Walk Hard was annoying, but had it's funny moments as well littered throughout.

What ya got?

Those are solid picks.  Others: The Jerk, Blazing Saddles, Caddyshack, Vacation, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Friday, Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin...

Non-traditional choices: Four Rooms, Beetlejuice, O Brother

Admittedly have not seen Jerk or Four Rooms. Thank you for the suggestions!

Any response that doesn’t include Raising Arizona is incomplete.

Haven’t seen this one either. I thank you, too.

One I think you’d enjoy: The Wrong Missy (Netflix)

An Adam Sandler film, so drop the expectations into the basement. Uncomfortably hilarious.

P.S. - He’s not in it.

If you’re a fan of the Zucker/Abraham flicks(Airplane, Naked Gun etc.) one of their lesser known efforts was Top Secret.  Early Val Kilmer as the star. Maybe my favorite of all.  Like all their stuff, you can watch one 10X and still find something you missed.

Might also suggest A Fish Called Wanda.

Keep in mind I don’t find Ferrell, Carey, Sandler, or Rogen movies funny at all.  That said I was buzzed and laughed like hell at A Million Ways to Die In the West.

Blazing SADDLES.

However, the potheads will be the first to go. I hope they stocked up on snacks!

Can't believe no one said anything about this:

Admittedly have not seen Jerk

Quality suggestion. Kevin Kline was gold.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a good one, too. Had forgotten the title to that one until I mixed it up with The Jerk.

The dinner scene is comedic gold.

The Gods Must Be Crazy.

Nancy Reagan has a wonderful short video "Just Say No".

You don't want that toe foot to turn into knee leg (or something to that effect).

That movie is pretty funny.  Sarah Silverman does an exceptional job of playing the dumb whore.

Search for the Holy Grail, Super Troopers, Guy on a Buffalo, Caddyshack and the entire Naked Gun collection.

All great recommendations.  The 5'4" lady that lives in my home/tells me what to do all the time and I have been on a kick of watching 90's and early 2000's flicks lately.  Yesterday was her birthday, and the movie of choice was Superstar.  I was 10 when that movie came out and hadn't seen it since then.  Left a lot to be desired.  Molly Shannon is hard for me to look at for extended periods of time.

My birthday is right around the bend and I am brainstorming what I would like to subject her to now.  All previous submissions are being considered.  A couple more I am thinking of revisiting:

- Dude, Where's My Car?
- Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo
- Me, Myself, & Irene
- Borat

I love Borat. Kaos hates me for it, but I do. It's so damn outrageous like Dumb and Dumber that it comes back around to being funny.

It’s pretty hilarious. One I haven’t mentioned, but sticking with the theme… The Dictator

Just good stuff.

We give you filet mignon, prime rib, broiled lobster, clams casino, seared tuna, and all the fixings.

You come back with a gas station hamburger, a bag of Cheetos, and a Twinkie.
