NL West - Dodgers
WC1 - Cardinals
WC2 - Phillies
AL East - Sachs
AL Central - Fighting Cerranos
AL West - Asstros
WC1 - Yankmes
WC2 - A's
NLCS - Braves over Dodgers in 7
ALCS - Sachs over Astros in 6
WS - Braves over Sox in 7
At how shitty they are without 2 healthy starters and no closer.Yeah right.
What does a Phillies pitcher have to do with the Cubs this season? I mean, other than shutting that lineup down...He's not with the Cubs anymore?
When you guys sign Harper, I'll put the over/under on number of wins at 150.Again...what do the Phillies have to do with this?
Edit to add: fudge Georgia. Just because.
Hope you enjoyed the post season before, Manny.Supposedly, the Padres farm system is loaded with young talent. This could be something where they may suck the first year or two of his deal, but slowly start getting good, like Houston.
I'm not stroking that $35m check every year for one guy. That's because you're spending it on hookers and blow. I get it.
Jar, how did you guys land Goldmember for $15.5m??? Talk about your steals. That guy is a stud. He's in the last year of his contract, so Arizona figured to get something for him. Cards are hoping that they can sign him long term after the season, look how well that worked out with JHey.. (although it did work out for Scott Rolen and Matt Holliday).
Compare his career stats to Harper's. He's averaging 26 HR and 89 RBI with a .297 average. And you got him for less than half what Bryce is going to command? Jeebus!
What did you do with Wainright? Same thing as we did with Markakis? We got him back on a 1-year deal at $4m. I see that AW is signed at $2m.I think he wants to retire a Cardinal. The city loves him, but he's clearly past his prime. I think he will retire this year.
Doing the quick Chizad math, the Braves sold just over 2.5 million tickets last year at an average of $32.00 a pop. That comes to right at $80mil. Take the concessions and ATL gear sold at the stadium and you more than cover their payroll with attendance alone. That stadium don’t pay for itself.
That stadium don’t pay for itself. The Cobb County tax payers agree.
The Cobb County tax payers agree. The braves ponied up $1.1b for that complex.
Okay, so what does Harper do? All the "experts" are saying it's between a long term (10 years) deal with the Phillies at probably $35m/per, or a much shorter contract with the Dodgers, most likely closer to $40m/per.Live on Snags money or live on WE!!! money? That's quite a predicament.
The Phillies are the logical choice, but Harper is from Las Vegas (I believe) and he's all about show time.
Live on Snags money or live on WE!!! money? That's quite a predicament.Don't joke about that stuff. Times have been tight. I had to let the Butler for the East Wing go the other day.
Harper to the Phillies for 13 Years/330M.13 years???? Why in the unholy fuck would you sign anybody for that long?
It's going to be glorious watching him hit .240 while dodging batteries.
13 years???? Why in the unholy fudge would you sign anybody for that long?Don't think that contract gets Harper to 40, which is nuts.
Don't think that contract gets Harper to 40, which is nuts. The guy may hit his stride and start putting up HOF numbers every year. Who knows? But tell me when one of these monster, long-term contracts has ever worked out.
His numbers are strange. Entered the league and hit .270 for three straight years, then jumped to .330, then down to .240, then back up to .319, then down to .240.
Gotta make you happy as a Braves fan knowing that when he's in his mid 30s, and batting .220, that Phils are paying him 25M for that.
The guy may hit his stride and start putting up HOF numbers every year. Who knows? But tell me when one of these monster, long-term contracts has ever worked out. After some googlez, the only 10 year contract I could find that I thought was good was when the Yanks signed Jeter to a 10 year deal in 2001. But I think that's more based on him being the face of the team, and they did win a World Series in 2009.

But I think that's more based on him being the face of the team, and they did win a World Series in 2009.Oh he gon love him some Philly. As Skip Carey said years ago. People in Philadelphia will show up to Veteran's Stadium for the annual Easter Egg hunt just to boo the kids that didn't find any eggs.
But generally speaking, it's a terrible idea.
Here's what I'm not getting about the Harper deal, Philly has him for 25M/year. Didn't the Nats offer him 10 years/300M+? He must have hated DC.
Oh he gon love him some Philly. As Skip Carey said years ago. People in Philadelphia will show up to Veteran's Stadium for the annual Easter Egg hunt just to boo the kids that didn't find any eggs.Well, the way they "hide" eggs these days, you have to wonder if the ones who can't reach down and pick one up are a bit daft.

As a kid we would have our annual Easter egg hunt at my uncle's house. YOU DID NOT SEE AN EGG! Hell, we found eggs still hidden from the year before.
They would put a little money in those bigger eggs and hide those. I was pissed off I could not find one and kicked an ant bed. I kicked the top off of the prized egg. He had lifted up the old ant bed and put the egg under it. If eggs were the only food they got, kids today would starve at my old hunts.
So I guess the Philly fans got that one right...
AMIRIGHT?
I tell ya', kids these days are soft. Back in the day, we used to have to reach down in ant beds to find our Easter Eggs. Oh sure, we'd get a dozen or so ant bites on our hands, but we were tough. And if we cried, Pappy would strap our hides. We earned those eggs. Nowadays, the eggs are right out in the open. Kids don't have to work for them like we did.
The regular season is about to crank up and I can't recall a season opening with less hoopla...fanfare...bwovado….dawing doo.So, will you believe after y'all start out 6-0?

Lucky us, we get to open in Philadelphia, then face the Cubs.
Goddamned Chris Davis went fucking 0'fer! Surprise surprise! Shocked I tell you! One good year and they give him a 7 year, $161 million contract. $23 million a year to do jack shit since. Should've spent that on pitching. I and Orioles fans have bitched about pitching for years. Good pitching beats good hitting. Even when Buck was winning he had to be creative with pitching staff because they wouldn't buy any.I'll never forget that 109 yard return, though.
Speaking of pitching, Cashner gives up 6 hits, 4 BB and 6 earned runs. So glad the front office bought some good pitching. Fuckers! We blow! Christ on roller skates!
Speaking of great pitching, the Braves win their division, have a butt load of dynamic, up and coming stars in place, and they do exactly jackitty, shackitty, shootty squat to improve the weakest part of the team....starting pitching. 52 year old Julio Tehran Iran is the #1 starter. Got raped by the Phillies to open their defense of the division.Yeah, but you can expect that with yesterday being the debut of Bryce Harper in the land of the battery throwers. I assume he knocked in at least 3 runs and scored a couple all by himself, right?
I greatly dislike the Cardinals bullpen.Did you say bullpen? Man, I'd love to have one of those.
And fudge Georgia.
Braves think Ronald Acuna Matada Jr. is the tits. Just signed him to an 8-year - $100 million dollah contract.I believe I would have let him earn his 560K this season and then talk deal.
Totally bitch slapped by the Phillies to start the season. Then sweep the series against the Cubs. Cubbies are playing Bad News Bears in the field so far this year. Errors are killing them. Need to clean that shoot up.I knew they really shouldn't have gone with Just Boot It for this year's theme.
Fuck Chris Davis! (http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/baseballs-worst-hitter-still-hasnt-hit-bottom/ar-BBVEgAD?ocid=ientp) Fuck him harder than Georgia! What do you want? He's tired from spring training. He actually had seven hits in 44 plate appearances. Running to base that many times is bound to tire a body out.

Plus he looks like a colossally sweet douche-bro.
Bullshit. Chris is a man's man.You know what he can do with bat? Get a rag, polish it up so nicely and turn that sumbitch sideways then shove it directly up his rooty-poo candy ass!

Orioles 4-5We're running away with this division.
Cards 4-5
Braves 5-4
Cubs 2-7
This may be the best year ever for this thread.
Meanwhile, my bandwagon AL team is 3-8. The Red Sox look putrid.Hung over.
Congrats to the Baltimore Orioles!! Their $161 million dollar man just established a new major league record for hitting. That 109 yard return though!
After an 0-5 night at the plate, Chris Davis is now hitless in 49 straight at bats, obliterating the decades-old mark for futility.
Here Chris reacts with joy to his streak remaining intact after a third inning liner was caught.

Note: This is an actual undoctored game photo from last night's game. It was taken as Davis got out in the third.
That 109 yard return though!Every time I see that photo of Davis from last night, this is what I hear in my head.
Lol! :(Okay, I lulz'd.
Okay, I lulz'd.Yes. Yes I have.
Braves are getting a bit of a break out in the Rockies. Colorado is missing 3-4 starters, most of which are big bats. I swear I love/hate that place, depending on which team hits the pop fly. Every time the ball goes in the air, there's a threat of it leaving the park. On that note, there are several iconic ball parks I have on my bucket list to see a game at. But for some reason, Coors Field just looks bad ass on the cable channels. Anyone ever been to a game there?
Anyone ever been to a game there? It's fucking great. The area the ball park is in, LoDo (Lower Downtown) has all kinds of bars, etc.
It's fucking great. The area the ball park is in, LoDo (Lower Downtown) has all kinds of bars, etc.Buzz and I are on the outs right now. I found out he's been texting Jean Carlos again and told him to pack his shit and get out. Turns out it was his place, so I'm kind of living out of my Subaru Forester for the time being. But, I should be able to make it a little later in the season once I get back on my feet. When is San Francisco in for a series?
When are we going to get your ass to STL for a game?

In case you haven't noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven't, theLet me get back to you, will ya, Charlie? I got a guy on the other line asking about some white walls.IndiansCardinals have managed to win a few here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar.
2-8 in our last ten. Quickly solidifying ourselves at the bottom of of the AL East. Chris Davis actually hit the ball, three times even, so there is that.Terrible weekend in my book. Just terrible.
Cardinals is apparently Yelich for “my bitches.â€Gawt Dam, stop pitching to that guy. Even Pavlov's dog caught on after a few dings.
This is going to be a long season. Watched the Braves give the game away in the 10th with the pitcher fielding a bunt and promptly throwing it into right field. Then walking 3 batters and the winning run right on in. The Braves have a great line up and very little pitching. They did exactly squat in the off season to address a really average....now below average pitching staff.Sadly it is time to trade some prospects for pitching.
Sadly it is time to trade some prospects for pitching. They have Acuna and Albies locked down. I really want to seem them sign Camargo long term. I think that kid is going to be great, sooner than later. But yeah, if they don't get some pitching, this season is going to go right in the shitter.

That never happens with my team.
Aight Buzz, the Cubbies are at .500 going into s 3 game series with the Draftdodgers. Quintana and Hamels scheduled for starts on the mound. Whatever you been doin in their L10, keep it goin.I've been not paying attention. I can definitely keep that up...
I've been not paying attention. I can definitely keep that up...Keep up the good work Buzz!!!
Finally, the Braves go out to get help for an awful bullpen. Aaaannnd they really improved themselves by signing 35 year old, Jerry Blevins, who had a 4.85 ERA for the Mets last year and was sitting in Triple A this season.Colon wasn't available?
Championship!!!
Colon wasn't available? We should be that lucky.
Only the second time in club history where Cards have won 19 games in April. Not unless we go get some pitching. I like our line up and I do think they'll hit all year and only improve. The pitching staff is only ahead of 5 teams in the NL. Two of those are the Dodgers and Mets so you know that won't last.
Central shaping up like we thought with Cubs/Cards/Brewers within 3 games of each other. Still suspect it will come down to the Brewers and Cubs, but I'll take it.
Phillies, at 16-13, have only a 1 game lead on the mets.. I hope it's not too much longer before batteries are throw at Harper. Braves hanging around the .500 mark. They will get better.

We didn't want him anyway. You roll
Buzz, how will you go fudge yourself if we are under a #SexStrike?I have my ways..I mean, what?
Guess someone in the clubhouse sacrificed a chicken...And not just a bucket of KFC
And not just a bucket of KFCHad to have been delicious Popeyes, the king of fast food, and if you disagree, you are wrong.
Jar, I hope a crazed band of camel jockeys give your sister a hysterectomy.Don't worry, Cards bats are only good for one game in a series. Braves will win tonight 6-1, and tomorrow, 2-0, with us getting one hit. One goddamn hit.

Outfuckingstanding tackling by the Braves on field security last night, Snags. That dude played linebacker, for sure.We lead MLB in tackles for loss.
Don't worry, Cards bats are only good for one game in a series. Braves will win tonight 6-1, and tomorrow, 2-0, with us getting one hit. One goddamn hit.Had my days reversed. And we had three hits. Three goddamn hits. And I wish we had only given up 6 tonight...
Had my days reversed. And we had three hits. Three goddamn hits. And I wish we had only given up 6 tonight...I only got to watch the first inning yesterday, so I saw pretty much none of it. I understand Wainright had a good outing last time, and even though he got through the first in fine fashion, watching him was almost sad to me. I always loved hating the guy. He was a true pitcher with command of just about every pitch you could throw. Sliders, breaking balls, change of speed and the heater. What I saw last night in the first was a grooved 90-91 m.p.h. fast ball and numerous slow, hanging breaking pitches.
Some of the races are starting to take shape. Unfortunately, the Phillies are playing consistent enough to be 10 games over .500 and starting to open up a little gap. Not much, but they're going to be hard to beat. Same with the BabyInteresting matchup tonight in Cubbie land. Cubs/Phillies. Darvish/Arrieta. 7pm MLB Network.
When does basketball start?Glenn dies
Jar is prophetic. Cards bats just went silent in this series. Up 3-0 in the 9th, the Bravos finally woke up and put together a bunch of hits...then scratched out a cheap one in the 10th for a 4-3 win. Bottom line was in a statement by the announcers in the 10th. The Birds only had 3 hits on the night. Amazing with that line up. Again...our bullpen is freaking putrid.Honestly, I don't know what to think. I thought when we had Matheny, that Mabrey was the issue with the batting. But it sucks now, too. Maybe we need Big Mac back with the roids he used.
Get off my lawn. I would much rather watch a 1-0 duel between 2 superstar pitchers than watch all the bat flips and the hippity hoppity music blasting at the stadiums.(https://media.istockphoto.com/photos/violent-senior-with-baseball-bat-giving-a-thumb-down-picture-id476184818) (https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwib26WJ_dLiAhXjw1kKHTSvDzUQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.istockphoto.com%2Fphoto%2Fviolent-senior-with-baseball-bat-giving-a-thumb-down-gm476184818-64866957&psig=AOvVaw1iry0k9cjGeZ3cvRYT_XaB&ust=1559845906971441)
And right on cue, I see this in my feed. Cubs are reportedly "pushing hard" to get Craig Kimbrel. Lord knows they need a decent arm in the bullpen that ain't got snakes in his head.Does my pose scare you? If that's not enough, I've grown this really intimidating ginger beard, which also serves as cover for my rosy cheeks and overall smooth, and supple complexion.

I'm not hating on Kimbrel or the Cubbies here. I'll leave that to Jar. I would love to have him on the Braves staff but only because our pen is filled with such supreme suckage. But I just don't think he's anything special anymore. 7 or 8 years ago, a reliever bringing it up there at 97-98 m.p.h. was something you'd better strap it on for. Now, it seems like 3 out of every 4 or 358/415ths of them are bringing that kind of heat. Like I said earlier in the wrong thread, the Cards have a guy hitting 104 consistently.Every time I saw his bama-loving monkey ass waddle in from the pen for the Sox last year in the post-season I cringed.
I expect him to get tattooed in Chicago.I'm thinking a butterfly on that forearm would be nice.
Go Cubs!Who has hacked Jarhead's account? DJ?
Who has hacked Jarhead's account? DJ?He's been guzzling brew from the Stanley Cup all night long.
Who has hacked Jarhead's account? DJ?Ssssshh.
Speaking of the Baby Bears....loved the stare of death from Javier Baez after smoking one into the left field bleachers. Best pay back possible after Schwarber (I believe) got plunked in front of him.I think it was Bryant not to mention Baez himself was HPB, along with Rizzo and Bryant (the second time) and Hamels. Hamels dusted Arenado also after Bryant was hit. It was intentional and in the same spot as they hit Bryant (twice). My man crush for Hamels and Baez are now set in concrete.

Uncanny!
Ssssshh.Nah, I told Buzzy that if the Blues won the Stanley Cup, I'd gladly root for the Cubs the rest of the season.
Actually it seems Jarhead may dislike the Rockies as many Cub fans do now.
Nah, I told Buzzy that if the Blues won the Stanley Cup, I'd gladly root for the Cubs the rest of the season.Well then, PLAY GLORIA!
Go Blues. PLAY GLORIA.
I'm not much a conspiracy theorist, except when it comes to Alabama football and the SEC/NCAA. However, I've gotta' think maybe MLB is tweaking something....juiced balls (Mmmmm...) corked bats....or something. The offense overall is off the charts. That's surprising because it seems now that everyone who steps on the mound can bring it at 95 plus. San Diego and the Rockies just finished off a 4 game set where a record 92 runs were scored. The Braves have scored 15 and 12 runs respectively in the last 2 games and have 125 runs scored in the month of June alone. It seems like every night there's multiple teams scoring double digit runs.Unless he can go 9 innings....just sayin, their bullpen teh suxxors.
I have no problem with it and as much as I love good pitching, this is fun to watch. I'm guessing this has to be somewhat by design to attract more fans. Ain't gonna' happen tonight for the Bravos since Jacob deGrom is taking the bump for NY.
Unless he can go 9 innings....just sayin, their bullpen teh suxxors.Troof. And I'm gonna' go ahead and say if the Braves don't go out and get a couple of quality arms for their bullpen, it's going to catch up to them sooner than later. This is as bad a pen as I've seen in forever. Their "closer", Luke Jackson, has 6 blown saves already this year.

If the Bravos pickup a decent closer adn maybe another solid relief, they can make a serious run.
Yeah, The radios over here are livid. If the Bravos pickup a decent closer adn maybe another solid relief, they can make a serious run. Here's the thing, though. If you whoopin' that ass do you make changes?
They brought in a kid the other night, Ynoa, who threw 98 and had really good movement. Dropped his off speed stuff to 87.
And then sent him back down the next day!
So who knows what they will do!
The funny part was that when he came into the game in the 8th, he was Oscar Yah-Noah.
When he came back in the ninth, he was Oscar Eno-Wah!
Here's the thing, though. If you whoopin' that ass do you make changes?I don't think any "changes" will be necessary. Their bullpen has been a revolving door of suck. They're bringing people up and sending them down constantly. They did go out and get the guy from Seattle and the Tomlin guy, who have both done pretty good. But they need a couple of proven pitchers for both long and short relief.
Marlins beat the Cards.(https://fanatics.frgimages.com/FFImage/thumb.aspx?i=/productimages/_3575000/ff_3575087-a6ebba057556e5c280b9_full.jpg&w=900)
I feel as though Jarhead has sold his soul for a Blues Cup. I blame Auburn's loss to Miss State on him. Bad VOODOO

I told you guys a lot of runs are being scored. Just wasn't expecting 10 of them to be on my Braves last night. On the other side....deGrom is just sick. When he's on:He’s their blind squirrel. Like snags, trying to find some nuts.

Fuck the Cubs. Cheaters. And any other derogatory term I can come up with. They'll be okay again after this series but right now....FTC.:haha::haha::haha::haha:
Ooohh... go blow yourselves, Cubbies.I can send you some Stanley Cup stuff. Makes shitty baseball much more tolerable.
fudge the Cubs. Cheaters. And any other derogatory term I can come up with. They'll be okay again after this series but right now....FTC.You do your job and I'll do mine.
I have this strange feeling that the cheating Cards are gonna make a run and win the Central. That's not a feeling. That's a given, so mark it down. Cards - Yank Me's in the World Series. Birds in 6.
That's not a feeling. That's a given, so mark it down. Cards - Yank Me's in the World Series. Birds in 6.Jarhead is not gonna be very happy with you.
That's not a feeling. That's a given, so mark it down. Cards - Yank Me's in the World Series. Birds in 6.Supposed to be catching the cards play the pirates next week in Pittsburgh. I’ll wear a cardinal hat for jarhead.
Jarhead is not gonna be very happy with you.He and Buzz both know it’s an Atlanta/Cubs NLCS.
He and Buzz both know it’s an Atlanta/Cubs NLCS.I curse your name.
I curse your name.Damn these glasses.
Suddenly, the Cards are the hottest team in the NL, along with the Giants. But the Giants don't matter because they're chasing the Dodgers. And suddenly, the Braves can't hit for shoot. Getting great pitching and wasting it.I loathe you.
So I still say the Cards in 6 over the Yank Me's. The way they're playing now, I might drop it to 5 games.
(https://retrosimba.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/john_smoltz.jpg)We sure coulda used that guy 5 years ago
I loathe you.The looked damn good all week. Was walking along downtown yesterday and they were all coming back from the stadium - I guess it was a businessman special game.
Welp, I've been delegated to rooting for and watching the Bravo's now day's since my 10 year old is a huge fan and the Orioles no longer have a team.I think Markakis is out for a while after getting plunked on the wrist the other night. On another note, anyone see the Reds pitcher take on the entire Pirates dugout last night? Kids got a set on him. However, I haven't seen more punches thrown and whiffed on in quite some time.
LOL. I'm not rooting for the Bravo's, just watching them. Me rooting for the Bravo's....:bugs::rofl:
For real, took the boys and my nephew to a Brave's game. Sun Trust is a really nice stadium and the parking was a hell of a lot better than Fulton Co or Turner. I enjoyed it. Played the Nats. It was nice to see Donaldson drive in the game winner. I seriously like Acuna, Markakis & Swanson. Donaldson is a no brainer. Gonna root for that guy no mater who he plays for.

Kids got a set on him. However, I haven't seen more punches thrown and whiffed on in quite some time.Yeah, I saw that. Looked like it hurt. Fractured wrist. I didn't see the Pirates and Reds. What were they fighting about. Which one was the worst team in the NL?
Yeah, I saw that. Looked like it hurt. Fractured wrist. I didn't see the Pirates and Reds. What were they fighting about. Which one was the worst team in the NL?Apparently, the Reds and Buccos have a long running feud. They started jawing back and forth and the Reds pitcher left the mound and charged the Pirates dugout. I mean, the dude started swinging on about 10 guys in front of the dugout. It looked wild but the reality was that I'm not sure anyone threw a punch that landed.

Birds/Yanks
Good series, Buzz. Central may go down to the wire.To the bird on a wire
Well.....I was all fired up about the relief pitchers the Braves signed. Shane Mr. All Star Greene, has pitched twice and gotten his shit pushed in both times. He's definitely crapped all over the bed. Hits and runs in every inning he's pitched except for the 1/3 of an inning last night. Even then he inherited one runner and allowed it to score.
I miss Luke Jackson.
Holy hell, what am I saying?
BREAKING NEWS:Its gotta start somewhere...
Newly acquired relief pitcher, Shane Greene, pitched a scoreless inning. Film at 11:00.
Its gotta start somewhere...No doubt. But honestly, I'm trying to figure out how this guy had a 1.18 ERA and made the All Star team. I don't see anything special about his stuff. Average fast ball at best and a decent slider.
I'm starting to think that even the Cards can't take the Dodgers down.Seriously tho, looking like a Dodgers/Astros rematch.
Seriously tho, looking like a Dodgers/Astros rematch.Werd. I don't think the Yank Me's have the pitching to get there.
Werd. I don't think the Yank Me's have the pitching to get there.I'm thinking the WS single game HR records will be broken nightly especially while in Tejas.
I'm starting to think that even the Cards can't take the Dodgers down. You ever see Kershaw play the cards in the post season? We make it there, we will beat the Dodgers. But we won’t make it there.
Anyone want to guess what day it is? Anyone? At least y'all make it to August.
That’s right! It’s August 27th. Today is the annual Braves are going to fudgeing lose it in the homestretch day!
Thank God it correlates with the beginning of football season.

Signed,
Every Cub fan ever
We know Cubs turn it on in September, though.I thought bears started hibernating about that time.
I thought bears started hibernating about that time.Completely Useless By September
I thought bears started hibernating about that time. Not when they are being chased by the Braves for best record in the NL.
Holy shit, just looked at the standings. It's been 5.5 for about a month now. The fucking Nats won't go away. I can't believe we've held on because this is a walking M.A.S.H. unit.
Snags, 5.5 lead? Holy hell.
Buzz? LOL. There's still time for Cards to blow this. Although I think someone brought in a bucket of Popeyes, as the last week, the bats have been on fire.
Holy shoot, just looked at the standings.Should have gone for the live chicken

Buzz? LOL. There's still time for Cards to blow this. Although I think someone brought in a bucket of Popeyes, as the last week, the bats have been on fire.
The Cards putting a bit of separation between themselves and the Baby Bears.Playing the Reds and Giants has helped. I suspect it will come down to that last week of the season, when the Birds to to Wrigley for 4, and then the Cubs come to Busch for 3
The fricking Nats refuse to fold. We have a 4 game set with them starting tomorrow. We have a 10 game home winning streak and after last night's sweep of the Blue Jays, it looked good to go up 7 1/2 games with the Mets leading 10-4 over Washington in the bottom of the 9th. Yep, those bastages scored 7 in the 9th to win 11-10.
Frick!!!
The Cards putting a bit of separation between themselves and the Baby Bears. We are gonna need you to sweep that series, so hopefully we can make the 1st Wild Card spot...maybe.

I suspect it will come down to that last week of the season, when the Birds to to Wrigley for 4, and then the Cubs come to Busch for 3Its gonna be close with the 3 game lead the Cardinals have. Its no secret the Cubs have had a major issue with road games. That being said, this next 8 game road series is going to tell the tale (4 in Milwaukee then 4 in SD). If the Cubs suck it up, I don't see them taking the division and perhaps not even a WC spot.
fudge the Cubs! Biggest bandwagon fan base in baseball. If you are a Cubs fan, you're basically just above Alabama in terms of pond scum!If Buzz doesn't reply in the next 5 or so minutes, it means he agrees.
If Buzz doesn't reply in the next 5 or so minutes, it means he agrees.Dammit to hell, GF!!!
Dammit to hell, GF!!!Down to 2.5, Buzz. Last few weeks should be good.
Fuck the Cubs! Biggest bandwagon fan base in baseball. If you are a Cubs fan, you're basically just above Alabama in terms of pond scum! Why because the Cubs gained 1/2 game without playing and because the Cards squandered away a game to the Giants?

Harper to the Phillies for 13 Years/330M.Close
It's going to be glorious watching him hit .240 while dodging batteries.
Down to 2.5, Buzz. Last few weeks should be good.Should be...if I can learn how to turn my TV on to watch.
Should be...if I can learn how to turn my TV on to watch. It’s on TV. Not the X.
Hate to hear that for anyone. Georgia, you are temporarily replaced. fudge cancer!Sir, I would argue that Georgia is a cancer.
Looks like Cubs are starting to play for a WC spot.Central will be very interesting next few weeks.
Central will be very interesting next few weeks.I see that but I also see how the Cubs been playing along with some bad timing injuries. Frankly they havent been playing with the intestinal fortitude to win the division. Right now the Cubs are 4.5 down and going on the road. Not a good spot. A few more losses and they will be out of the WC spot also.
Cards: At Rockies for 3, vs Brewers for 3, vs Nats for 3, @ Cubs for 4, At Arizona for 3, host Cubs for 3.
Cubs: At SD for 4, at Pirates for 3, vs Reds for 3, vs Cards for 4, At Pirates for 3, at Cards for 3.
Brewers: At Miami for 4, at Busch for 3, vs SD for 4, vs Pirates for 3, at Reds for 3, at Rox for 3.
Still think it will come down to those last 10 games for the Cubs/Cards. Although with their schedule, 6.5 could be made up by the Brewers easily.
Cubs pretty much will have to sweep the Pirates and Reds to have any chance at the division. WC2 looks like a stretch now though with all the injuries and the way they've been playing lately.Cubs benefit from Cardinals playing the Nats, too. Nats take 2 of 3, and you guys can take the series vs Reds and Bucs, it's wide open.
Cubs benefit from Cardinals playing the Nats, too. Nats take 2 of 3, and you guys can take the series vs Reds and Bucs, it's wide open.Uumm....yeeeahh......we're gonna' need you to handle your business against the Nats. MmmK? Thanks.
Name of the game for St Louis is just win series from here out, and they will take the division.
Uumm....yeeeahh......we're gonna' need you to handle your business against the Nats. MmmK? Thanks. The cheatin' Cards never forget who questioned their integrity.
The cheatin' Cards never forget who questioned their integrity.I agree. Damn those Nats.
Another day, another injury.Look on the bright side, at least Steve-O from Jackass did well in his MLB debut.
Fuck this season. At leastI have footballbasketball season is near.
Look on the bright side, at least Steve-O from Jackass did well in his MLB debut.LIKE
About 3-4 years ago, when the they affectively dismantled the Braves, I was pissed. They were at least competitive and had a shot at the Wild Card most years. But, it was clear they were going the way of the Astros and others who had done the same thing. Burn it to the ground and start over from scratch. I think the plan is actually way ahead of schedule as I don't think anyone envisioned what Acuna, Albies etc. could do at such young ages.Yeah. I was the same. Thought they were throwing the baby and the bathwater out the door. Felt bad for Freddie, who was really the only piece of the puzzle that stuck around. Then they built that gaudy monument to excess up in the snoots and I was sort of done with it.
I know I'm going at least half tard here, but I think they have a legit shot at making the WS. The reason is they're getting a solid 7 from their starters just about every single night. I say that and they'll get shelled tonight and be down 7-0 at the end of 3. But last night, Foltyneciewicsavich had his second straight dominant outing. If he continues and you add that to Soroka, Keuchel, Fried and Tayron, I think we can compete.
If so, it would be the 9th time in franchise history, third only behind Yankees 19 (nobody's catching them) and the A's 10.And A's had to do it in 2 different cities.
And A's had to do it in 2 different cities.I think you'd find that during that stretch, we set the record for most average wins in a season while being punted from the playoffs in the 1st round.
I'm shocked the Dodgers only has 6 100 win seasons (3 in Brooklyn and 3 in LA) and the Giants only have 7(4 in NY and 3 in SF). Cubs with 7 and Cards with 9.
Even more impressive for the Braves, they had 6 100 win seasons between 1993 and 2003. With one of those years being a strike shortened season, too.
I think you'd find that during that stretch, we set the record for most average wins in a season while being punted from the playoffs in the 1st round.Yes, but unlike the Buffalo Bills, you actually won it once.
Yes, but unlike the Buffalo Bills, you actually won it once.I find truth in your words, pale face.
Rockies 2 Cards 1I'm guessing Colorado doesn't allow chicken sacrifices in the locker room, because our bats are scared.
Brew Crew 7 Fish 5
Fathers 4 Baby Bears 0
Cards hold a 4 game lead on Beer Boys and Cubbies
Braves 3 Ponies 1
Nats 6 Twinkies 2
Bravos up 9.5 on Trump Town with 15 to play.
I'm guessing Colorado doesn't allow chicken sacrifices in the locker room, because our bats are scared. It's just that ever since Token posted that "Time for the Braves to crash" thing, I haven't been sleeping well. He hasn't posted on this board since. I firmly believe that's a sign. And not a good one.
Dude, I don't know why you're worried about the Nats. Magic number is 8. You could go 8-7 and they would need to go 15-0, and you still get in. Take a deep breathe, you're in.
It's just that ever since Token posted that "Time for the Braves to crash" thing, I haven't been sleeping well. He hasn't posted on this board since. I firmly believe that's a sign. And not a good one.If any team is going to crash, it will be the Redbirds.
If any team is going to crash, it will be the Redbirds. Here's the thing. I'm a fan of the ATL. You know, as in Braves, Hawks and Falcons? You remember the Falcons, right? The owners of the most embarrassing meltdown in Super Bowl history. No way possible to lose that game. It's in the bag. Go ahead, celebrate!
Well that was a shitty weekend of baseball. Cubs now 2 back, Brewers now 3 back. Magic number is 12.Cubs need to take care of bidnezz with the Reds but they have trouble with them for whatever reason. If Cubs want to take the division, they really need to be no more than a game behind going into the Cards series.
Tonight, Cards vs Nats, Cubs vs Reds, and Brewers vs Padres.
No way in hell you can compare the bravos to those other two teams in Atlanta. Not even apples and oranges.

No lead is safe in the ATL and I won't be happy until and if they pop those corks.
No way in hell you can compare the bravos to those other two teams in Atlanta. Not even apples and oranges.Yes. Yes I can. The Atlanta Braves (Not counting Milwaukee etc) have made the playoffs 19 times. They've won ONE world series in 19 tries. Yes. Yes I can.
More like iron and marshmallows.
Cards, Cubs, and Brewers all win. Magic number is 11.Preesh!
And nats lost, you’re welcome, Snags.
Gonna need the Nats to go on a long losing streak. And the Cards. And teh Brew Crew.I would take a few Nats wins the next two days and then they can fall off the map if they wanna.
When does basketball season start? It never ends in the Jarhead house.
This would be very exciting if I didn't already know what is going to happen...Of course you know the outcome. You have to face this guy.
No need to make fun of a guy that swings both ways. Not that there's anything wrong with it.Oh I'm not. It's kind of a thing in MLB.
Well...they are called the Rangers, soSteers and queers and all that.
Cards swatting the Nats 5-1 in the 8th.Hey Alexa, play that song that says I hate you so much right now

Cubs lose, Brewers lose. Magic number of 8. Cards 3 up.Agreed. That's why I was saying they only needed to be 1 game back going into this series. Oh well, I guess they be loving some pressure cooker.
Cubs need to take 3 of 4 to have a chance. Going 2-2 would leave you 3 back, with a magic number of 4.
If the Cubs want to spoil the Cardinals World Series run it looks like they will have to win in DC, then go through the ATL, HO!Wouldn't the wild card winner play the Dodgers? I'm pretty sure LA has a better record than the Braves.

As much as I hate to say it, and definitely don't want to see it, the Brewers are the ones to worry about more than anyone. While the Cards and Cubs have both gone 5-5 in their last 10, the Beer Makers are 8-2. You two may beat up on each other while they've got the lowly Pirates in for 3. Then it's the Reds and Rockies to finish up. (Even though you posted all that earlier) There may be some mighty tight sphincters after this weekend. They way they have rallied after losing their superstar has been impressive.
Cards take game 2, 2-1.Right or wrong, Maddon will not be the Cubs manager next season.
Magic number is 6. Cubs now 5 back.
Right or wrong, Maddon will not be the Cubs manager next season.Granted, I don’t follow the cubs, but I think that would be a big mistake. I could, after these first two games, make a case to get rid of your hitting coach, though.
Granted, I don’t follow the cubs, but I think that would be a big mistake. I could, after these first two games, make a case to get rid of your hitting coach, though. Not saying I agree either but that's word. Part of the problem is the hitting and pitching coaches that have hired over the last few seasons.
Mother fucking BOOM. Division champs. Damn, I love these guys.LIKE!
Magic number is 3. Go .500 the rest of the way, and you win the division. And you guys got Goldmember back. Pretty much locks up the Birds' spot in the WS.
Buzz, you're on life support. How about the Brewers just go on a 6 game skid, and everyone is happy.

And you guys got Goldmember back. Pretty much locks up the Birds' spot in the WS.Please... if we are fortunate enough to play the Braves in the NLDS, they will win the 5 game series in 2 games.
Please... if we are fortunate enough to play the Braves in the NLDS, they will win the 5 game series in 2 games.Damn right. That's the way we roll and....wait.....what?
It's just not fair. The Braves should be in the LLWS, since the Braves are the best team in LL anyway.FTFY
It's just not fair. The Braves and Cards should be matched up in the WS, since they are the 2 best teams in MLB anyway. You must be pulling for either the Dodgers or Yankmees.......or you going the dark horse Twins?
If you guys need me, I'll be over here wearing my 2016 WS Champs sweatshirt and singing Go Cubs Go while I watch the Cards celebrate with the Blues.I mean this in the nicest way possible... eat a dick.
That one hurt. Cards fall in 19 innings, 3-2. 2.5 games up on the Brewers. Magic number remains 3.Dear little 6 pound 8 ounce baby Jesus...
Brewers magic number to clinch a playoff spot is 1.
I think Snags was right, with the Cards/Cubs having the hardest road. Watch, the Cubs will take 2 of 3 in St Louis this weekend, knocking the Cards out of the division and into a play in game vs Max Scherzer.
Dear little 6 pound 8 ounce baby Jesus...I'm going to get you a Blues Jersey.
I'm going to get you a Blues Jersey.LIKE
I think everyone knows where I stand on the Bravos. My oldest son is all about the Bravos now and we watch a few innings together here and there. It's all his little 9 yr old gnat sized attention span can take. This team is growing on me. Lots of good young talent, plus Donaldson. I would love for them to make a deep run in the playoffs and get some tickets for me and the boy. So here's hoping that Snitker doesn't channel his inner Bobby Cox and get's it done. We're doomed. You just had to invoke the name of Early Exit Bobby, didn't you?
Here's the Chief to balance things out Snaggs...Chief Slapaho

We're doomed. You just had to invoke the name of Early Exit Bobby, didn't you?Yes, yes and yes.
Obviously, I'm a lifer when it comes to the Braves and most sports ATL. But yeah, I think this team would grow on most people with how they play and the fun they seem to have. Granted, it's easy to have a lot of fun when you're winning. But, guys like Albies and Acuna were acting like kids early last year when nothing was expected of them.
On a strategic note, I'm hoping Snit understands that one guy in particular needs to be dropped from the rotation for the playoffs. Need to send Julio Tehran to the bullpen for long relief. I haven't looked at the numbers, and I know he was solid in midseason, but every time I've seen him pitch down the stretch, he's getting hammered early and often...including last night.
I hope the Braves can stop them in the NLDS. After the Cards blow the wildcard game, I'll be left rooting for Auburn people. We got this. Even though Freddie Freeman, Ronald Acuna are out along with Charlie Culberson after he got his face smashed in by a fastball.
this weekend is going to be tasty. And not stressful at all. Last weekend was almost perfect, college and pro-team wise, for me. Cards/Saints did well. Auburn won, but that team up the road won, so college I went .500. Shit, even the kids sports did well (except soccer, and that's because they have a shitty coach). This weekend, it's going to be payback. Saints will lose to the Cowboys and WE!!! will gloat. Cubs will take 2 of 3 vs Cards, and Buzz will gloat, and I'll have to end up pulling a Nook.

I hadn't thought of him as a replacement, but it would be a good hire. Which means they won't do it. I think they hire Ross. The reason why I dont think they go Rossy is because they have so many free agency contracts coming up and they gonna need a guy in there to at least manage to get through the next couple of seasons. I do see Rossy brought in as an assistant with the idea of him taking the skipper job later.

5. Donaldson has been worth the money
Third baseman Josh Donaldson, after whom many Cardinals fans thirsted in the offseason, has proven to be even more than the Braves, who paid him $23 million for one year, might have hoped for. A calf injury, among other ailments, had limited the former American League star to 52 games last year but he played 155 for the Braves this season, starting 148, including more than 100 at one stretch. Donaldson paid off with 37 homers, 94 RBIs and a .900 OPS while playing an elite third base. He is a difference maker, too, in a youth-dominated clubhouse.
War Damn DonaldsonDamn it, somebody fix this thing.

Wow, can you blow that shot worse than the Brewers? I have no love or hate for the Brewers but I fucking hate the Nationals. Have no idea who that right fielder is, but fuck him.Soto. He is young and going to be damned good. I watched him against the Bravos this year and that kid needs to be on my O's.

I think bullpen woes will ultimately cost the Cards this series.I have no clue what will happen. I just know we're not playing the Dodgers.
I'm sorry, whose bullpen did you say would blow it?They are both shitty??
They are both shitty??That last double killed us. Hey, when your opponent drills 14 hits for 7 runs, just gotta tip your hat. Congrats.
Good game, brother.
That last double killed us. Hey, when your opponent drills 14 hits for 7 runs, just gotta tip your hat. Congrats.Buzz and I were talking, and it looked foul. Can’t believe that’s not reviewable.
Nobody gonna beat theHouston is pretty loaded, though.DodgersYankees anyway.
Houston is pretty loaded, though. This^^^ Pitching...pitching...pitching.
Bravos aren’t there yet. Further ahead of what I thought they would be with a fantastic lineup, but the pitching is suspect. Specifically the bullpen. I wasn’t even upset last night as I expected it.The last third, or 241/405th of the season, it was the starting pitching that kept everything together. We were getting 6 or 7 solid innings just about every night out and the offense was doing just enough to take most series. The line up, just about top to bottom, was pounding the ball all year until Markakis and Dansby went down. The top 4 have continued to hit but the rest of the line up has never been the same.
The second double in the 9th was foul. Furthermore, Goldslagger came off the bag. Albies was safe, should have been tied. I’m still confident we would have lost in extra innings though.Which leads me to a pet peeve I have had about replay in sports...
The second double in the 9th was foul. Furthermore, Goldslagger came off the bag. Albies was safe, should have been tied. I’m still confident we would have lost in extra innings though.Agree on the first part, but I couldn't argue on the foot coming off. Looked like he held it to me, but certainly wasn't clear enough to overturn the call. (Just saw Buzz' post. Agreed)
Good game, guys. Let’s beat some Gator ass and get back at it on Sunday.Had a feeling they'd respond. Just been too resilient all year. Shaping up to be a killer series.
Need to get a live chicken to get the bats going. Cards pitched well enough to win, but Jobu didn’t get enough rum or something. Anyway, there will be a game 4. Fuck Georgia and Fuck Bama.This. All of it. Especially that last part.
I soooo want Max Scherzer on my team.Dude is a beast. Both NL series tied at 1.
Dude is a beast. Both NL series tied at 1.I hate the Nats but I'm pulling for them in this series. I think either of us have a much better chance against them to reach the WS.
Tips hat to Braves pitching....Damn Braves are trying to kill us all with heart attacks!
I think you guys win tomorrow. That one hurt. And our bullpen sucks.
Tips hat to Braves pitching....With the exception of Tehran, our starting pitching has been the strength of the team all year. Like you guys, you never have a clue what will happen with the pen.

With the exception of Tehran, our starting pitching has been the strength of the team all year. Like you guys, you never have a clue what will happen with the pen.We went 4-3 vs then this year.
Nats just went up 2-0 on the Dodgers. Like I said earlier, both of us have a better shot with Washington. Having said that, I have no idea how you did against LA. We're normally their prison bitch.
Duvall has been clutch. Wainwright pitched a hell of a game. Still surprised by this Atlanta team but I’m still not sold they have the pen to get out of this seriesI won’t lie, there is some satisfaction I get in you rooting for an Auburn man.
fudgeung love Waino. I am such a fan of actual pitching. He is top 5 man love for me.Before the game, Cards beat writer asked him, “how’s it feel going against a kid who is old enough to be your son?â€
It was all coaching tonight. He pulled pitchers when it wasn’t necessary, failed to play fundamental baseball and instead let everyone swing for the fence.
When you get yourself in a position that you have to bring Julio Tehran in for extra innings because you pulled Newcomb and Tomlin who both pitched good innings, you are guaranteeing a loss.
This cardinal team made mistakes they never make. Center fielder misplaying a ball, Molina going after a pop up that should have been Carpenter’s, Carpenter mishandling a ball at 3rd. To overcome that, it won’t surprise me in the least if they take game 5 with ease.
Snitker just over thought it today. I hope he learns from it.
Even Jackson pitched 2 good innings. And that never happens. I argued he should not have even been on the plane to STL.
If I hit one 450 feet into the left field bleachers, I want to by God bat flip that Louisville Slugger like a helicopter 20 feet in the air. As the rules stand now, I'm taking a 95 m.p.h. Rawlings under the chin in my nest at bat.Don't you call balls under your chin a normal work day?

Don't you call balls under your chin a normal work day?I was gonna go there. And then I just let it go...
Snitker just over thought it today. I hope he learns from it.And I mean this as respect and a compliment to the Red Birds but when you play a big boy like that. A team with their pedigree - especially recently - in the playoffs, you HAVE to score with RISP. At least some of the time. Bases loaded twice in a row. And nothing. Runner on 3rd. Nothing.
Damn it! I guess I pretty much...Like your favorite Cardinals pitcher, Carlos Martinez.
Like your favorite Cardinals pitcher, Carlos Martinez. He and Acuna are besties. BTW, I laughed when Ozuna mocked the little side step at 3rd on his home run trot.

What are people saying about Molina's bat toss?I haven't seen much chatter, but then I haven't really paid that much attention. I think it's awesome the way the intensity rachets up in the playoffs. Fist pumps, throat slashes, bat tosses. Hells yes!
St. Louis holds top spot in chlamydia and gonorrhea, STDs reach all-time high across U.S.
St. Louis has retained the dubious distinction of leading the nation in sexually transmitted diseases, ranking first in 2018 among counties and independent cities for the rate of gonorrhea (https://www.cdc.gov/std/gonorrhea/stdfact-gonorrhea.htm) and — after dropping to third place a year ago (https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/st-louis-holds-on-to-one-std-title-loses-another/article_cee03afc-7dc4-555b-9b48-a09c54f2703d.html) — regaining the top spot for chlamydia (https://www.cdc.gov/std/chlamydia/stdfact-chlamydia.htm). 9-0 in the first inning. Baseball God’s punishment for not playing stationary baseball in the playoffs. You can play home run derby all year but in October, you move runners over and bring them across. And if a pitcher is sitting them down, you don’t pull him because of analytics.10-0. Just ugly!
Good series, guys. Triggered, Cheating Cards into the NLCS.The Cards are the Ohio State of baseball.
Could be worse. Could be the team with the best record in the NL as a clear favorite and have a wild card team hit a grand slam in the top of the tenth in front of your home crowd.Washington, St. Louis, Yankholes and either Rays or Assblows.
Fuck the dodgers and the nationals.
Fuck the Brave’s manager.
Soroka is clearly the Brave’s ace. With a cake walk into the NLDS where we saw the big names resting, why in the tomahawk chopping fuck was Soroka in a position to only pitch 1 game? This fucking guy won on talent alone. Nothing else.
Agree. How many times did we say that about Cox.
Snit made some horrible pitching decisions. Thought soroka should have went games 1 and 4/5. Folty wasn’t gonna pitch two gems in a row. And not against flaherty. And the decision to use Jackson in critical times (game 1) is a head scratcher.
That aside, the braves middle of the lineup was cold cold cold with RISP. I said it last week but a team like the cards will make you pay for that. You cant fuck around like that in the playoffs with seasoned teams.
13-1 isn’t what hurts. What hurts is this game shouldn’t have even happened. They had them on the mat and let them back up. You don’t let Ali or Tyson or foreman back up. And it’s all on them.
I do not like snit. He’s not a playoff manager.
How many times did we say that about Cox.It's much less stressful when you don't make the playoffs at all.
I'm not sure which is worse, not making the playoffs, or getting there and shootting the bed.
The dodgers won 106 games without using starters in relief. I just don’t understand why teams abandoned what has worked all year.Like
How many times did we say that about Cox.Don’t disagree. But even cox didn’t make some of the obvious boneheaded moves Snit made. Agree with token - why go away from what worked all year? Soroka was obvious. And sorry to say this but fukkk Freddie. I get he’s hurt. And if he was he should speak up. Because a replacement would have hit better than .138. He was Ice cold all series. And looked like he gave zero shits. Disinterested.
I'm not sure which is worse, not making the playoffs, or getting there and shitting the bed.
It's much less stressful when you don't make the playoffs at all.like

How many times did we say that about Cox.I know the deeper you go in the playoffs, the more it stings when they don't win. But I think you always want to get in. Baseball especially, because you never know.

I know the deeper you go in the playoffs, the more it stings when they don't win. But I think you always want to get in. Baseball especially, because you never know.As evidenced by the 2 NL teams still standing!
Cards got hot down the stretch, which of course, was just at the right time. They finished the regular season 20 games over .500 and had/have one of the hottest pitchers in biesbols in Jack Flaherty. Them being in this position doesn't surprise me. Well obviously it doesn't because I've been saying Cards/Yankees all season. It's fate.If it's half as exciting as Carpenter/Halladay in 2011...
On a related note, if one of these match ups has Scherzer and Wainwright on the bump, I may have to go rub one out.

I loathe you.Alls I know is that particular beat writer should be looking for work now.

The first part of that was probably well deserved, meaning the Braves most likely did stir the shoot up. I have a feeling the Nats paid attention to the second half of that statement.Totally agree.
Alls I know is that particular beat writer should be looking for work now.It wasn't a beat writer, it was a rookie (outfielder Randy Arozarena).
It wasn't a beat writer, it was a rookie (outfielder Randy Arozarena).Ouch...even worse
It wasn't a beat writer, it was a rookie (outfielder Randy Arozarena). He hasn’t been with the team since the sugar bowl.
Too soon? You, sir, and I mean this with the utmost respect, can choke on a dick.

Yo Buzz, looks like Joe Espada, the Atros bench coach, has gotten a second interview for the the Cubs manage position. It's pretty easy to coach a bench.
Yo Buzz, looks like Joe Espada, the Atros bench coach, has gotten a second interview for the the Cubs manage position. Not a bad hire if that happens.
It's pretty easy to coach a bench. You know nothing about being a bench coach!
Sit! Stay! That's about it.

I hope he does well, but I feel like this is a Gus type hire. I hope he proves me wrong. If they do hire him, I hope he kicks bootay. I like him from the standpoint of his AU connection and his time on the air, which I think he's really good at. But moves like this bumfuzzle my brain. Here you have an organization that's worth just over $3 Billion. A payroll off the charts and one of the most passionate fan bases in sports. And you're going to put a guy in charge who has never so much as coached a Little League game? (As far as I know. He may be a badass LL coach)

Word has it that he coarched the intramural softball team at Auburn to a 134-0 record.See, if I had done my research, I would never have questioned the man's qualifications.
See, if I had done my research, I would never have questioned the man's qualifications.I thought the intramural fields were still on Biggio, but I might be wrong. The City has a soccer complex on Wire...could have softball now too.
Speaking of intramurals, coming down Wire Rd. into Auburn earlier this year, right around fraternity row, it looks like some bad ass softball fields off to the right. Those may have been there a while and I just missed them. Is that what they've built for intramural softball?
I hope he does well, but I feel like this is a Gus type hire. I hope he proves me wrong.Thats pretty much where I'm at. I'm just not feeling the hire. I like Ross and all, but, manager?
I thought the intramural fields were still on Biggio, but I might be wrong. The City has a soccer complex on Wire...could have softball now too. What I saw was right between the frat houses on the right going in. It was kind of a WTF moment. Really nice but I only saw it driving by. They cleared off that field for intramural sports when I was up there. We played football and softball and basically had a backstop and some bases for the ballsoft.

SMHYou’re just being an orange Cheeto gutter hore.
Trying to recreate that Alex Cora thing like the Red Sox did.It is was it us I suppose. If Ross can man up and be the boss then so be it. I'm a bit concerned about that. Maybe he can bring in a better pitching and hitting coach. I think most Cub fans would feel much better.
Almost a carbon copy of that move, actually.

Daaaaaannng. The Nats just poured it on the Astros. Now they go home with a 2-0 lead. Little known fact that I discovered after hours of research and hearing sports announcers say it 300 plus times over the last two days.Fuck the stros and their paid for roster and bandwagon fuckin fans.
The Nats started the season 19-31. Since then, they have the best record in biesbols at 84-40, which includes 10-2 so far in the playoffs. Maybe the Stros shouldn't have been such a heavy favorite in this series.

whipped the team all year that is whipping yours since apparently you are some weirdo texas honk.Whipped them the last two games in DC. I guess I am a “weirdo Texas honk†even though I was born in Drake Infirmary on campus, and no I don’t like the cowboys.
Anything better than a Game 7?A game 7 in Cleveland
A game 7 in ClevelandNot if you're a Tribe fan.
Scherzer vs Greinke tonight.Must see TV indeed
First time in WS history that 2 former Cy Young winners will face off in a game 7.
If the Hallmark Christmas movie reruns weren't on, I'd be all over this game 7.Chop on
Rendon would look really good with a birds on the bat logo on his jersey.I'll bet he can chop with the best of em'.
I'll bet he can chop with the best of em'.You want him to play OL at Auburn? Gus just perked up.
You want him to play OL at Auburn? Gus just perked up.I thought we were riding for the brand?
Congrats to the Nats.Is he paying?
Ok, so what do the Braves/Cubs/Cards/Os (lol) need to do to be holding the Commissioner's Trophy this time next year? (snags, I swear to the baseball gods, if you say win 4 games in the world series, I'm sending Buzz down to Dothan to take Mrs Snags out for a nice seafood dinner).
Is he paying?Maybe they can work up a trade with the Cubs to get Schwarber. He's a natural catcher, plus his .177 average as a leadoff hitter is hard to beat.
Braves: They have 3 or 4 really good, young starting pitchers. They need to add that one Scherzer/Cole/Kershaw type ace to the staff. Yeah, that sounds like a strategy no one has ever heard of there, Captain Obvious. But, they've been good enough to make the playoffs the past two years and it's clear they don't have that stud to put them over the top like everyone else has.
I like their line up but I'm afraid Donaldson was just a rent-a-bat this year. He's at well over $20 mil and I can't see the Braves signing him long term at his age. Would love it, but I don't see it happening. So, they'll need a big stick to replace him. Top priority is also a catcher. McCann retired and Flowers is just Gawd Awful.
Maybe they can work up a trade with the Cubs to get Schwarber. He's a natural catcher, plus his .177 average as a leadoff hitter is hard to beat.As bad as Flowers is, I'm not sure I want to give his cool .193 average for that. After all, he did almost hit 5 home runs this year.
Speaking of Gerrit Cole, anyone see him post game? He was wearing his agent's (Scott Boras) cap and told reporters, "I'm not an employee of the Astros anymore."He about to get paid.
Sounds like someone's entering the transfer portal.
He about to get paid.
He would also look really good with Birds on the Bat on his jersey.I heard he was considering the Cardinals, but then he thought....

Good Gawd amighty. The Mets chose Carlos Beltran to be their next manager.Maybe if he were on dancing with the stars, he would be more qualified.
20 seasons, 7 with the Mets.
Management experience: NONE
Special Assistant to Yankees Brian Cashman.
He ain't no George Castanza!

Makes perfect sense for the Mets. Mickey Callaway had zero managerial experience.Pics?
BTW, I met Callaway and his wife a few years ago down at Santa Rosa Beach. They were living temporarily in a house across the street from one we were renting. We were watching AU/Mississippi State that Saturday and they checked out a little of it with us. He was pitching corch for the Indians at the time. He's a Hobby Lobby grad so he was pulling against Dak Prescott. His wife is hawt.
Yep, that's about it for my celebrity status. I once met a fired MLB manager. Did I mention is wife was hawt?
Pics?On the left.

Well F&$#!!!! The Braves inked Nick Markakis and Tyler Flowers to one year deals. $4 mil each. Markakis, I'm fine with. Veteran player who can still produce. Solid all the way around and a steal at that price.Mentor for a young guy?
Flowers???? WTFickityfuckityfrump are they thinking? In a word...well two words.....he sucks! He's not that good a catcher. He's slow as molasses. He hit a whopping .229 this year. Plus, he's 157 years old.
This does not cause the slightest bit of chub.
Mentor for a young guy? What is he going to do, teach him how to suck....professionally?
What is he going to do, teach him how to suck....professionally?The the Braves wanted that, you’d already be in a Braves jersey.
