So now every time there is mass killings those people now get flags flown in their honor. We all know the shootings were bad, but do those folks really deserve that, Hell they flew them at ½ staff (New Jersey only) for fucking Whitney Houston. 46 American Troops lost their lives in Afghanistan in July, not one day did I hear about flags flown in their honor.

Whitney Houston? A long time drug addict found dead in a bathtub gets a flag lowered for her? WTF?

Exactly. But a soldier serving honorably and giving his life for his country? Pfffttttt.
People care more about Jersey Shore and being entertained/dumb downed.

The direction this thread is going reminds me of what the MSM did on a daily basis when the Iraq War was resumed under Bush 43; you all will recall that they used to have a daily death/casualty toll of US soldiers since the war began. I know why they did it, of course, as a knock against the President and a war they didn't support; it wasn't for the troops. But to me it was a constant visual reminder much like the display of seeing a flag at half staff. To me, personally, it reminded me to remember to keep their families in prayer for their comfort and to keep their fellow soldiers, marines, airmen, and sailors in prayer as well for their protection and that our enemies would be delivered into their hands. As much as we collectively grieve for those killed in the Sikh temple in Wisconsin and for those killed in Aurora I think that flying the flag at half staff should be reserved only for those who served our country; especially while we are at war which is something we too often forget.
