Title: PLEASE!!!!
Post by: War Eagle!!! on November 01, 2010, 11:03:45 AM
For fuck's sake. IT DOESN"T FUCKING MATTER!!!!! If Auburn wins out, we will win the National Championship!

Auburn has one of the best teams I have seen in my 33 years with one of the best players I have ever seen play at the college level...and we are bitching like hell. Stop it. This shit is ridiculous. Run your mouths, talk shit, and enjoy the fact that no matter what anyone says, if we go out and win, IT DOESN"T FUCKING MATTER!

If I see another god damn thread bitching about Herbie and whoever, I am going to :suicide:

Someone, go tell RWS to fuck himself. Or tell Token to eat a dick. Something. Anything.

Herbie wants your cock.....ok just kidding, there is no need to kill yourself. I pretty sure most of us here know this WE. I mean, you are correct, when we win out we will play for all the marbles. It is fun to speculate and make fun of the talking heads especially when they contradick themselves.

Anyway, hey Token, go eat a dick.

quitcherbitchin!   :poke:

I'm seriously about sick and tired of hearing folks complain about play by play guys, color analysts, commentators, tv sports talking heads, lisps or speech impediments, Big 10 or Boise bias, etc. etc.  I said this a couple of weeks ago too.  I don't know how much more clear it can be that 2004 isn't about to happen again, and we knew then, and have known, that was a fluke more than anything.  It's Auburn's to win, or lose...simple as that.

Let's take this moment to remember something CTT said concerning 2004.

"If the folks making these statements knew anything about football then they would still be coaching."

Sorry, but there's no guarantees.  Not that our bitching will make a difference either but those of you saying "If we win out..." please to be giving a show of hands how many of you thought Oregon would be #1 this morning.  Anyone...anyone...Bueller...?

Oregon raced up the polls because of much love...based on winning and opinions.  We thought we were secure because we vaulted to #1 and everyone just knew it was because of our superior schedule.  All it took to get us out of the top spot was whipping an SEC team on the road by 20.  Unfortunately, that SEC team had losses to JSU and Vandy on their resume and bang..we're #2.

Now, clearly....clearly...our SOS will keep us in the top 2 if we win out.  Really?  The Chattanooga Mocs?  Guess what...Georgia is 4-5.  How's that SOS looking right now?  And if Bama just happens to get knocked off by either LSU or MSU...or both?  Again, please to be explaining how, under this system, all we have to do is win out.  And while we're playing our 4th string against the Mocs this weekend, how much love do you think the winner between #3 and #5 is gonna' get?

So will we drop again after playing UTC?  But then we tick back up after playing (and hopefully beating) a shitastic Georgia team?  What if LSU beats bammer?  If bammer loses to LSU (I know, I am what if-ing...)  and then bammer drops in the BCS, what would that do to Auburn's strength of schedule?  If we are not playing a one-loss bammer for all the marbles, would winning out still be enough to satisfy the computers and  those stupid fuckers who keep voting for Boise and TCU?  It's like on American Idol when that website encouraged people to vote for the worst singers to fuck it all up...  They just want the BCS to be forced to make a hard decision over the non-AQ.  TOUGH SHIT!!  THEY ARE NON-AQ FOR A REASON!!!!!!!!!

If Auburn wins out and gets fucked again, I will go postal.

This is so fucking stupid...

Last night Herbie said "Auburn people calm down - you control your own destiny.  If you win out you will be in the BCS Championship game..." but somehow Herbie, after the fucking you and ESPN gave us in 2004, I have a hard time trusting you...

I just do NOT have that level of confidence.  Right now, the absolute worst case is for bammer to lose to LSU.  And we have to blow the fucking DOORS off of Georgia and bammer both just to earn fucking "style points"??  You have to earn style points when you play a shittastic conference schedule.  Otherwise, just being an SEC gamewinner makes it style points, you stupid motherfucker.

I will guarantee you that if Auburn is 13-0 going in to bowl season, that we will be playing for a national championship. I will guarantee it. Not only that, but I will bet any of you fuckers any amount of money that this will happen.

So put your money where your mouth is. If you honestly think that an undefeated Auburn will get jumped by TCU or Boise then bet me right now....
Title: Re: PLEASE!!!!

I think honestly the only way it could happen is if Alabama were to lose to LSU, MSU and Auburn...then Auburn gets a 4 loss USCe in the SECCG and wins a close ugla game there.  This would hurt the SOS enough that the pimps in Connecticut will get Boise in.

Makes my point even more.  How do you account for this week?  NOTHING is certain in this whole mess.  WE says PLEASE stop bitching and so many are saying "All we have to do is win out".  I'm asking for someone to show me that guarantee.  Show me how beating a Division 5 Chattanooga team and a 4-5 UGA team does squat for Auburn.  Certainly, everyone wants to point to Alabama and say that beating a top 5 team will get us there.  So....if Bama loses to either LSU or MSU and drops out of the top 10?  We're guaranteed a spot in the BCS just how?

The guys who run the numbers, and know the system predicted what has happened the last couple of weeks...and also predicted that Auburn would climb to #1 by the end if they won out...no matter who stayed undefeated.   The computers don't factor in games not played yet...the whole puzzle isn't put together.

Because Boise was #8 in the computer rankings. They moved up after beating a decent road team. Auburn is still number 1 in ALL the computers, and jumped to #2 in the poll that matters in figuring the BCS. Auburn is not going to get passed by anyone in the computers OR anyone in the polls if they keep winning.

Again, I will bet anyone that if Auburn is 13-0, they play for it.

Herbstreit said he would vote Auburn #1 in 2004 if we won out too... how'd that Sugar Bowl taste?

We play a patsy this weekend while TCU plays Utah.  If TCU wins, they jump us into the #2 spot and they go undefeated.  What would we have to do to get that #2 spot back??  I am not sure we can!!

It is all dependent on SOS... so since GA sucks, we have to absolutely demolish Georgia, and since just winning on the road in the SEC is apparently not enough, we have to blow the doors off a one loss bammer in Turdville - and if bammer takes a dump to LSU and/or MSU before we get them, we are fucked.

Look, I want to believe.  OH!!  How I want to believe!!  But I am cynical... and I trust those voting motherfuckers about as far as I can spit.

And now Karma is sitting back and laughing her ass off... I have to pull for bammer to beat LSU this weekend...

Or for LSU to hang half a hundred on them and whip them up one end of the field and down the other... and we all know that is NOT gonna happen...

A 3 point last minute Hat Trick for the LSU win will NOT help us.

Route for who you want to route for. I am hoping that LSU beats Alabama. I don't want Alabama to have a hope in playing for an SEC Championship and a National Title when we play them. I want them to have all hope lost.

Look, if you actually think that TCU or Boise St. is going to play in a nation championship over an undefeated Oregon or Auburn, then bet. It's that simple. I will bet you whatever you want that that will NOT happen.

And another thing, for either Boise or TCU to have a shot to play, Oregon has to lose OR Auburn has to lose and Alabama not win out. If Oregon wins out and so does Alabama, they still get left out. It is by far a longer shot for either of those teams than it is for Auburn.

Do I think it's more likely than not that an undefeated SEC team goes?  Yes.  Hell, I even think if Bama wins out, they go with 1 loss. But all this "No fuckin' way" and these guarantees are head in the sand predictions.  If you take the human factor out of the equation, you're really playing the ostrich.  This year, like no other, there's a huge segment of the people that want to see the underdog get their shot...even if it's just from the standpoint of time to "Put up or shut up".  If TCU or Utah jumps us this week, it's going to be hard to get them out of there.

Again, I think if we go undefeated or Bama wins out, either team should represent. But, you let one of these flies in the ointment get in there this late in the game......

The 'Playoff' Starts Now

Michigan State and Missouri, two teams widely suspected as frauds, went down Saturday, clearing the way for the legitimate contenders for this year's playoff race.

Right ... there is no playoff, but the way the schedule is setting up for the next five weeks, more teams will be eliminated as we approach the final month of the college football season.

Only five unbeaten teams remain, and one will certainly go down next week as TCU visits Utah. The winner stays in the race for at least a BCS bowl berth, not to mention maybe a shot at the BCS title game. Alabama, the one-loss team best positioned to sneak into the title game picture, still has an Iron Bowl date with hated rival Auburn.

Auburn, though for now perhaps still No. 3 in the human polls, is virtually guaranteed to play in the BCS title game should it defeat 'Bama (and Georgia) and go on to win the SEC title. Though currently No. 3 in the human polls, expect the War Eagles to jump Boise State in those polls in the latter part of the season if they stay unbeaten.

Then there is Oregon, which also controls its own destiny after Saturday night's emphatic victory over a game USC team in the L.A. Coliseum. The Ducks will remain No. 1 in the polls and this week should vault past Auburn as the top team in the BCS standings. The scores will be close - mostly depending on how many voters decide to put Auburn ahead of Boise State this week - but those two teams will be well ahead of the Broncos and the rest of the pack.

This week's projected BCS standings:

1. Oregon, 2. Auburn

, 3. Boise State, 4. TCU, 5. Utah, 6. Alabama, 7. Oklahoma, 8. Wisconsin, 9. Nebraska, 10. LSU, 11. Ohio State, 12. Missouri, 13. Stanford, 14. Michigan State, 15. Arizona.

First off, they tweak this system every year.  There's just no telling about what will or won't or might happen.  Should a 2-loss LSU team have played in it?  Yeah, they won but how fair was it to even put them in it?  Should OU have lost in the conference championship game and played in it?  Should USC and OU have played over us with a lower SOS?  I'm not making analogies to this year, only pointing out that there are no guarantees in this system as long as the human factor has a bearing on the outcome.

In response to the question about making it to #1 or #2 and remaining undefeated, I'd ask what happens if TCU or Utah jumps us this week.  These teams are right behind us and a win for would be over a top 5 team.  Is there any guarantee that we regain that spot. If so, why?  We play Chattanooga and UGA next.  Will that get us back in?

Fucking THIS.

I have been held up in a meeting, and reading through this thread I have wanted to say the same thing, but you beat me to it.

I'm not going to "put my money where my mouth is" and bet against my Auburn Tigers' success. That's fucking stupid. And like Snaggle said, I would put it at a less than 50% chance that we don't get to stay in the Top 2. Probably about a 25% chance or less. But there's no 110% guarantee as some of you are trying to portray. There just isn't. WE WILL BE THIRD NEXT WEEK WHEN #3 AND #5 PLAY HEAD TO HEAD WHILE WE PLAY UT-CHAT. Playing a UGA team with a LOSING RECORD won't do us any favors either. I too would like to root against bammer from here on out for the same reasons you mentioned, but YOU CAN KISS THAT GOODBYE NOW. If Bama drops one, it's likely to fuck us, and if they drop two, I will certainly take that bet, and we can put the mortgage on it, as much as it pains me. We actually need their SOS now, as pathetic as that is. Despite our body of work thus far eclipsing ANY TEAM IN THE COUNTRY. With th exception of bama, we're on the downward slope of our schedule. We already beat a #5 team. That's how we jumped to #1 in the computers. We never did get there with the humans (aka Herbstreit, Palmer, and all of the other assholes who desperately want the "fly in the ointment" non-AQ teams to play in this game).

It must be nice to be as naive as some of you are. To trust the same exact asshole to do right by us that said these EXACT SAME THINGS about Auburn controlling their destiny at the EXACT SAME POINT IN THE SEASON as 2004. They will put who they want to see in there, and it ain't us, for whatever stupid illogical reason they may have to justify it.

In summation, no, I wouldn't bet on Auburn to fail. But unless you have the 2015 Sports Almanac from Back To The Future Part II, you do not know for 100% certain what these idiots will do.

Now, let's talk about that bet.  I'm with the Chiz in saying I'm not betting against my Planesmens under this scenario.  A lot of if's and could be's between now and then but I may take some (We'll discuss terms later but a grand ain't involved) of that action,

IF...we get jumped this week, and...

IF...we win out, and...

IF...Bama loses to either LSU or MSU.

That is the scenario I've been fearing.  There are many who say that the powers that be realized their mistake in 04' and won't let it happen.  I would submit that there's a stronger faction of the PTB that want to jump on the first chance they get to finally let the fly in the ointment prove it's worth.

Two things...

1). We do NOT have any other AQ schools in front o us like in 2004.  This is nowhere in the same conversation as 2004.  Basing fear on what happened in 2004 is skewed.

2). As the number if games increase, the computer averages move less and less.  You will not see leaps towards the end like in the earlier weeks where smaller changes can cause more significant changes.

Those that know the BCS have seen this and based on how much certain things can and can't move, already have called it a virtual certainty that AU will be in the top 2 if we win out.  Most have AU at #1.

Not sure where all this worrying is coming from.

We will still be in the NC game when we beat bama regardless if they lose a game between here and there. The point is, that would make us undefeated and the human polls would have us at #1 at that point. How do I know, well we jumped to #2 in the coaches poll this week and a win on the road in Tuskaloser to remain undefeated in the SEC. That would put us at #1 in both polls and more importantly in the coaches poll since it carries weight in the BCS. Not to mention that this would still gives us more points to boot in the BSC because of a win over a ranked opponent.

When we win out, we will play in the BCS NC game.

This is not 2004 all over again for Auburn, and that's a good thing

 Kevin Scarbinsky, Birmingham News

Check the calendar, Auburn fan. It's not 2004.
OK, Auburn fan. Take a deep breath. Inhale through the nose, exhale through the mouth. It's going to be OK. Really, it is.

It's easy to understand why you've been hyperventilating since Sunday night. Your team won a conference road game by 20 points Saturday night, 51-31 at Ole Miss. Your team scored more points on the road than it has since Oct. 31, 1970, in a 63-14 victory at Florida.

Your team scored more points against the Rebels, and beat them by a wider margin, than any other team on their schedule. In an alleged trap game, your team made a mockery of Ole Miss and its gray uniform gimmickry.

And what did it get the Tigers? They dropped from No. 1 to No. 2 in the BCS standings behind Oregon.

Of all the college football programs in America, Auburn has more of a right to fret about BCS number-crunching than anyone else. See 2004. That memory alone haunts the Tigers. It makes it hard for you, Auburn fan, to take what happened Sunday night lying down.

But you should. Lie down, that is. Take a breath, and that nasty feeling of deja vu should pass.

This isn't 2004 all over again, and that's a good thing for the Tigers.

Oh sure, there's a chance they'll play a rematch in the SEC Championship Game, as they did in 2004, which doesn't provide much bounce in the computers. But two things are very different than they were six years ago for Auburn.

One of them is Alabama.

Beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa this year, by any margin, and Auburn will get more respect nationally than it's received all year. Which makes sense.

This time, Alabama is the defending national champion. This time, Alabama is in the BCS race itself. This time, Alabama is Alabama again.

Couple that opportunity, for Auburn to beat an Alabama team at full strength, with the reality that Auburn never got into the top two in the BCS rankings at any point in 2004, and there's no reason for you, Auburn fan, to worry about anything other than your team taking care of its own business.

Wait. Something just flew by my window. Looked like a helicopter.

I don't think it was black.

I can see and hear it now.  Bammers everywhere will be socking that little tidbit away, just in case, just in case they lose....just in case Auburn wins it all...then they'll proudly proclaim all over the net and talk radio airwaves how Auburn still needed bammer to win it all....how it wasn't possible for Auburn to get the respect it needs without Bammer.

The rest of it...spot on.

FTFY

Seriously...any of you that buy in to this "Auburn is going to be jumped by Boise or TCU", are basically saying that in your hearts and minds, you believe bammers are correct when they say we have no national respect, and that the ONLY way Auburn will ever win a BCS title is if there's just no other remotely viable choice to play in the game....the year that complete BCS Armageddon happens Auburn will go undefeated and we'll get to finally play a 3 loss Mtn West or WAC team for all the marbles because all the planes carrying all other BCS AQ teams on road game trips met over Kansas and collided....and the Home teams that same day were wiped out by the plague, and by some quirk of fate, Auburn was in their practice bubble at the right time, and survived on Guthries and Momma G's take out for 7 days while the plague passed.  I'm fucking sick of listening to this bammerish whining.

As Chopper eluded to, as each week progresses the point system tightens up because there are more numbers to include in the equation. Also, the point difference between us and Oregon is a very small amount. From what I have went back to find, it is a very small margin. Now, look at the margin between the top two teams and then TCU and Boise. That from what I understand is a pretty significant amount and even if TCU beats Utah, they still probably want jump us.

There are 5 teams in the SEC West that are in the BCS Top 20. 5...in one division. And you guys are telling me, that if Auburn beats all of them, and then a number 19 team in the BCS in the SEC Championship, that there is a chance we will get fucked by a team that has played only one team in the top 5, or a different team that has played only 2 teams at number 22 and 23? Yeah. That shit aint happening...

Just a little observation from the cheap seats.  If LSU beats Bama and then wins out, do we still not have a win over a top 5 BCS opponent?  LSU currently sits at #10 and will move up leaps and bounds with a vitory over Bama and either TCU or Utah losing this week.  If LSU and Miss State beat Bama, Miss Stae will probably be in the top 10-15.  Bama will end up in the top 25 even if they lose to both.

Given we win them all, that would give us victories over a top 5, top 15, and top 25 BCS rated team.  No one else can touch that.  Forget about all this silly rooting for Bama stuff, talk about serious negative Karma.

Ok, still doubting? Auburn jumped to #2 with a closer points race when we beat LSU, a team with way higher percentages across the computer equation. Either TCU or Utah wins, they still don't have those type numbers. Ok, you may be saying well why did Auburn drop to #2 when they are #1 across the BCS numbers. That is because when you add both the Harris poll and Coaches poll in together, that outweighs the BCS numbers. Both of those polls have us at #2 and Oregon at #1. Still not on board? Ok, lets simulate some numbers by taking the last three weeks worth of BCS numbers and do a mock ranking. Lets say TCU, being higher ranked than Utah, wins and of course Auburn beats the Mocs. Taking the same sum numbers from when we beat LSU (with higher BCS percentages I might add) and add to the TCU total as of 10/31. That gives TCU +/- .9640 for 11/7. Add the typical non ranked but win number (diff of .230) and add that to Auburn for 11/7 and you get .9830. Now, this is a quick glaze over but I would money on that difference on being even larger if we correctly calculated it.
Attached are the last two weeks of BSC standings.

Human polls are still the most important aspect.  And we're #2 there, and #1 in all the computers.  It's already getting to the point where the math wins for Auburn unless the human polls move TCU up 2 spots over teams that didn't lose.  I'm not sure if that would still be enough to overcome everything else.  And they aint gonna do that in the human polls.   Last week we leaped Boise in the Harris poll, and increased our point lead on TCU.  As well as closed the point gap on Oregon.

In the last 3 weeks we went from #5, to #3, to #2 in the Coaches poll.  Leaping both TCU and Boise.

I agree that the fact bammer loses to two teams we beat will probably end up helping us "enough" in the computers.

I still don't trust the humans to get it right. I've watched enough ESPN, read enough articles, and heard enough guests on the talk radio shows who all have votes in this thing try to explain to me why Boise should be ranked ahead of Auburn. Now that TCU beating Baylor looks a lot better on paper after they they just beat Texas, and beating Utah is technically a #3 vs. #5 match up, I have no reason to believe there won't be a fair share of assholes putting them ahead of us, as there already are plenty ranking Boise ahead of us as it already is.

And we've been there. We've heard the exact same bullshit about "Just calm down, it'll work itself out", and it never did. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...a foolmecan'tbefooledagain.

If the Arizona game was in the desert and if Nick Foles was healthy that might be as tough as USC but the heads point at Cal away and this "civil war" with State as toughies. Two ranked teams is all they have played to date.

And this is why Auburn will play if we win out...

SOS
3. Auburn
68. Boise St.
86. TCU
142. Oregon

Look at the games Oregon still has left. They still don't play anyone...

...and yet they are #1 in the BCS.

And the so-called "Experts", ESPNU described  Auburn one dimensional. That wasn't Lugenbill or Schlaback but Pollack making that moronic statement. There is nearly a concensus however that Alabama will beat Auburn. Only former UCLA TE Charles Arbuckle likes AU enough to abstain from both assertions.

Oregon is described as sexy with the quirkiness, multi colored unis etc.

I quit watching that show..its like the view. One dimensional? 3 rushers in the top 11 in the sec. Darvin Adams, Mr reliable. Nick Fairly the best dl in the sec. Wes byrum is as automatic as it gets. Washington has become a dangerous ko return man. Our special teams gunners I.e. Craig Sanders, have been awesome. Every team has a weak link. Ours is neiko torched and mediocre punting. Big whooop! Oregon gives up 20-30 per game against lesser defenses. So screw the experts....

I think this is what irks me the most.

Jesse Palmer can suck a fat dick.

Saw on College Football Live where they were discussing who they'd like to see in the MNC game. Jesse said that he'd like to see Oregon vs. Boise State, which is why he has them at #1 & #2 by a long shot. He went on to gush about what an amazing display of talent by both teams that would be. Didn't acknowledge Auburn until the host said, "You don't think Auburn could match up against Oregon too?" and Palmer said some bullshit like "There's no way Auburn could stop that offense!" with a chuckle. Are you fucking kidding me? What makes you think Oregon can stop ours? Our points for and against have been pretty similar for the most part, but our competition has been much stiffer (#3 vs. #142 SOS). In our one game we've played so far that is along the lines of the teams they did blow out, we did the same (52-3 vs. ULM).

It's so frustrating to see these so called experts completely devoid of logic that a blind retarded three year old can see.

To add to that, I just checked.

Oregon is allowing 17.9 PPG and Auburn is allowing 24.3.

HO-LY SHIT! SIX WHOLE POINTS MORE! WE COULD NEVER HANG WITH THEM!

With shut-outs against jokes like New Mexico and Portland State...I like our chances of scoring on them better than their chances of scoring on us.

And clapping him along was Herbie. What was funny to me is that after Herbie wiped his chin off, he displayed his top ten. Who did he have at #2 instead? Auburn

I'm with you. I actually think that Auburn is the only team that can beat Oregon though. They do have a great offense but they haven't faced us and even if our D hasn't been so great I still think the Ducks would be in for a nice treat.

Don't write off Arizona just yet in giving the Ducks a fucking.  They're giving up less than 15 a game in the score happy Pac-10.  The Wildcatz are a pretty solid team.

I think it's pretty much a concensus among us that we are very talented and diverse in many ways. Sure Cam is the guy that makes it happen but he has quality people all-around him. He elevates their play. Isn't that what every team wants? Our punter isn't long, but he skies it making returns pretty tough. We don't kick the ball through the end zone. We mainly get beat deep along the sidelines. We miss some open field tackles. We fumble once in how many carries? Yeah one's too many. But we hit harder than any team I've seen. We adjust as well as any defense after a gashing and limit mistakes after making a couple. Our penalties are signiicantly reduced.

LaMichael James can be contained on dive plays by a powerful, quick interior. We bust the Oregon QB each time on the read option. He can throw some but I don't think he can with any consistency with his run game marginalized. And I don't think anyone expects to stop them for four quarters anyway. But I think we can give them real problems. It APPEARS they have all these weapons but look beyond the mirrors. I'm not short selling them, I'm just not focusing on the hyperactive QB stutting around.

I am not so confident that Oregon gets past Zona and if they do, I think it is going to be ugly.

Again, the game is at Oregon and Arizona's best bet is injured, not hurt, INJURED! Yes they have a stingy defense. But that will not be enough.

Don't count out the Beavers in the Civil War either.  They would love nothing more than to play the Duckie spoiler.

Their top player is INJURED too. C'mon!

Is it also possible that outside of a couple of teams, the Pac-10 is just a bad, bad league?  Hell, even a bottom feeding Tennessee with a brain dead corch played the Oregon Fucks straight up for a half.  Then they got blown out in the second half like they do in virtually every game they play.

There you go. Hell we have some bad halves ourselves but I think we beat them head to head on a neutral field, at Jordan-Hare, their house or phukin' Europe.

All it takes is a stingy D to get them out of rhythm and give the Mildcats of the desert a little confidence...not sayin, just sayin.

I know. All the talk now is how one loss Alabama has a clearer path based on what? Beating a beaten down Tennessee team whose head coach is displaying an evident lack of patience? Man these talking heads are really stretching.
