AWESOME x2!!!!!

Some key moments in my first two hours of playing this game:
- Shooting the rope of a guy getting hanged (just like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly)
- Helping law enforcement kill 15-20 gang members in a pike
- Randomly walking up on a husband and wife committing suicide together
- Winning $100 in poker
- Losing $75 in poker and getting it back after stabbing the guy to death...although paying the bounty to clear my name pretty much made all that a waste of time

I haven't tried walking up to a horse and punching it yet, though.

Tell ya what I did last night.  I am usually not much on killin' da womens but this heifer was asking for help then had her banditos jump me.  After I dealt with them I proceeded to hog tie her then put her on the railroad tracks.  There actually is an achievement for this.

Good times.

Sani, how is multi player?

It's ok.  I have not played it much cause I have been caught up in the story mostly and when not in that I have just been in free roam.  I was not terribly impressed with it when I was trying it last week due to some lag issues and people getting dropped out of rooms.  It may well get better over the next week or so.

What outfits does everyone have?

Right now I have:

Elegant Suit
Exceptional Elegant Suit (allows you to cheat at cards)
Duster

and I am one away from the bollard gang outfit.

I cant seem to get a bollard bounty back alive, either I keep having to shoot them or their gang members kill them on the way back to Amarillo.

Not sure if you can do this on the PS3, but the 360 gives you the option to download the game to your hard drive, you still need the actual game in the system, but it reduces the calls to the drive.  Can you try that?

PS3 does not have that option unless it has been added in the last few weeks.

One thing that was cool about Paris is at about half the stations for the metro/subway there was a 16'x16' poster of the front cover of Red Dead Redemption.  Kinda cool to pull into the station and be staring down Marston's double barrel.  I could swear I saw some of them surrender as they got off the train.

OK.  Sitting at 95.5% now.
Have one final stranger mission to complete. (California)
About three or four outfits to complete where I am missing one or two items for each.
Still have five location I have to collect bounties from.

Be aware I hit some sort of a glitch last night when switching from multiplayer to single player where it started the story from the very beginning.  Luckily I had multiple save game files and just loaded one of those up.

Rockstar Games has just outlined four additional DLC packs they have planned for the world of Red Dead Redemption.

The first pack drops early next month and the final one is aimed at later this fall. Sam Houser, Rockstar's cofounder says, "We want to continue to provide Red Dead Redemption’s fans with a steady supply of innovative new content. Our goal is to continue to pack as much entertaining gameplay and as many surprises as we can into the massive world of Red Dead Redemption over the coming months."

Priced at 800 Microsoft Points each ($10), here's the breakdown of what each one has in store for us:

Legends and Killers Pack

New active map locations, characters and more:

* Release date: beginning of August 2010;
* 9 new multiplayer map locations — more than doubling the amount of territories in the multiplayer competitive modes;
* 8 new multiplayer characters — play as characters from Red Dead Revolver;
* Introducing a new projectile weapon: the Tomahawk, with corresponding challenges for single-player and multiplayer gameplay;
* New achievements and trophies

Liars and Cheats Pack

New competitive modes, multiplayer mini-games in Free Roam, and more:

* Release date: TBD;
* Attack and Defend multiplayer competitive mode and challenges;
* New multiplayer horse races, complete with mounted combat;
* Play as the heroes and villains of Red Dead Redemption, as well as 8 additional multiplayer characters;
* Multiplayer versions of Liars Dice and Poker from the single-player game;
* Introducing a new weapon: the Explosive Rifle, with associated challenges available in single-player and multiplayer gameplay;
* New achievements and trophies

Free Roam Pack

Delve deeper into the world of Red Dead Redemption with new modes, challenges and gang hideouts to discover:

* Release date: TBC;
* Additional Free Roam challenges;
* New action areas and defensive placements;
* Posse scoring and leaderboards;
* New anti-griefing measures in Free Roam

Undead Nightmare Pack

Ghost towns and cemeteries come alive in a West gone horribly wrong:

* Release date: TBC;
* Brand new single-player adventure, challenges and quests;
* 8 new multiplayer zombie characters;
* Additional animals unleashed in the world;
* New dynamic events and more

They all sound like steps in the right direction, except to me the Undead Pack seems to be a bit excessive and outside the realm of the game world - but that's just me editorializing. We'll have more info on these packs as they get closer to their release.

Rockstar will bring new downloadable content to Red Dead Redemption, it said Thursday, a fiendish plot that involves… the undead.

The publisher says that four different downloadable expansions are in the works for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Red Dead Redemption. You’ll have to pony up quite a few greenbacks to enjoy it all, though.

The open-world Western from the creator of Grand Theft Auto sold 1.5 million copies when it was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in May.

The first bit of DLC, due in August, is the Legends and Killers Pack — a download that will bring more multiplayer maps, characters, challenges and achievements.

The Liars and Cheats Pack will introduce multiplayer versions of Liars Dice and Poker, horse races, and “Attack and Defend” competitive multiplayer.

A new Free Roam Pack will expand the game’s open world multiplayer with new areas for posses to attack, posse scoring and leaderboards, and anti-griefing measures.

Finally, with the Undead Nightmare Pack, Red Dead Redemption will attempt to get the Weird West right where the Jonah Hex movie failed. In this expansion, ghost towns and cemeteries will crawl with the walking dead. Rockstar promises a new single-player adventure for this supernatural setting as well as a handful of new challenges, quests and playable zombie characters for multiplayer.

The expansions will cost $10 each except for the Free Roam Pack, on which Rockstar is still deciding the price.

There’s already been one downloadable expansion to Red Dead Redemption: Last month, Rockstar released the free but problematic Outlaws to the End Co-Op Mission Pack.

Ok, RDR gurus....I have a question.

When out on a Bounty hunt, I always like to go only so far on horse and then walk the rest of the way when I am within a couple of hundred yards. I jump off the horse and start walking/creeping to get in position to start shooting and what do you know - the fucking horse keeps following me making noise, getting in my way and in a few cases has tipped the bounty off that I was hiding. How do you get the horse to fucking sit still in that scenario?  BTW - I had to put the game down for about 3 weeks and have only now just picked it back up. Im only at 26% currently.

I'll hang up and listen......

Good question.  I'm one bounty done thus far...only 12% completed.  I couldn't seem to take him alive either.  I kept trying to shoot him in the legs and walk up to him, but he'd get up and smoke my ass.  Then, I kill him and loot his friends, and these other motherfuckers would ride up on me while I'm pillaging the site.  What gives with that as well?

Ive tried the "shoot em in the legs" strategy as well. I tried it on Rufus once and the motherfucker kept getting caught in a loop saying "nice try mista!" while running from me. Here's a little hint for ya when looting and pillaging the village - don't loot the bounty target until right before you get ready to leave to head back to Armadillo. The other bad guys dont seem to hunt you down or appear until you loot the target - that seems to be the trigger. I just want the damn horse to stay where i dismount him.

I usually never got off the horse.  Most of the bounty areas have a ridge or area across from them that you can sit up on and pick the bad guys off from.  Understand that once you shoot at the first one they will start coming toward you but with a repeating rifle I usually had very little problem picking them off.  The main bounty guy usually will not charge you but you must be prepared for the fucker to try to run.  I usually made a point of shooting all their horses first then dealing with them.  He has a problem outrunning you on foot.

Probably around 8 or so.  I like to stay in practice cussing so that when there are foul mouthed ten year olds in the room I am ready.  people look at me strange and try to bring charges when I cuss'em at teh wal-marks.

You got a mic yet?

You have to learn how to accept a posse invite.  It's much easier to explain when the other person has a mic.

You have to learn how to accept a posse invite.  It's much easier to explain when the other person has a mic.

No mic. I will accept your posse invite brother.

Do you guys generally play RD, or something else?  I'll play next week, but I can't guarantee how good the internet connection would be in the hotel, I don't want to slow the game down.

Ive been playing it since it was released, but just starting playing it online in free roam last week. Last night I played with Sani and his amigo for the first time. Fucked that Bollard gang up. I think tonight we just need to start throwing dynamite inside the Fort at a rapid rate and see what happens. Its easy as hell when you know you can just respawn over and over.

Won't bother me.  You might be laggy but I think as long as you are not hosting it won't really affect the rest of us.

Ok, I'll bring my headphones up with me Sunday night, so we can kill gangs next week.  Just don't make fun of the cheap ass donkey my online character rides.

However, if I could make my character look like this, I'd be happy riding the donkey...

I got Beatles RB back around Christmas, played it for about 10 weeks straight and then put it down. Not sure why. On regular Rock Band, I found the drums were cooler to play. On Beatles RB, the guitar seems to be a little more the one I prefer. I am sure it has nothing to do with the crazy chords in most of their shit.

Meh.  I can go pick up NCAA 09 it'll be just the same.  EA fucks people on their updates/new sports games.

Tell me about it, however I have never been able to break away from this franchise, I have always gotten the new one each year.

This year has actually been hard for me to not go get it for some reason.  Almost like I have been away a couple of years and now feel that a couple of years worth of updates will be worth my $.

I'm in the same boat.  I want both NCAA 11 and Madden this year (although Madden more so since Brees is on the cover).

1. The game's resolution is 1080p which looks amazing.
2. For the first time you can run the ball, follow blockers, ect.
3. The players motions are realistic, no more fucking robots.
4. The stadiums have been updated to look like the originals.

I finally pulled the trigger.  I exchanged 4 games and got a used copy of this and Bad Company 2.  Even though Game Stop gets a sweet deal on this gotta love the concept.

You are right Jumbo it is the best NCAA game ever, I have always upgraded every year and been disappointed every time I did.  This was going to be the first year that I did not buy it, I'm glad I changed my mind.  Contrary to Weskies opinion I think it is leaps and bounds a better game than last year.  Game play / player movement / tackles /catches....about the most realistic I have ever seen.  AI is better and seems to adapt to a certain play call, in other words if a running play worked once and you keep using it they will adjust.  Graphics are probably the best I have seen (next to Madden).  Overall I give it a 9 and the last couple of games in the series would have gotten 6's from me.
