Under Armour All-American Eric Mack (Saint Matthews, S.C./Calhoun County) committed to Auburn Wednesday afternoon at his school after backing out of a long standing commitment to South Carolina on Tuesday night.

Mack was one of the top offensive linemen at the Under Armour All-America Game earlier this month and is the nation's No. 2 ranked offensive guard prospect.

This is the second year in a row a Calhoun County prospect has committed to one school for most of the process and switched at the end. Last year, receiver Alshon Jeffery backed out of a long standing commitment to USC and switched to South Carolina on national signing day. He was a freshman All-American this year.

Mack said on Sunday night that he was shutting down his recruitment and would sign with South Carolina on national signing day and then decommitted from the Gamecocks on Tuesday evening.

Offensive lineman Eric Mack says he'll sign with Auburn
By Charles Goldberg -- The Birmingham News

Auburn's persistent recruitment of offensive lineman Eric Mack paid off Wednesday when the South Carolina high school standout said he'd sign with the Tigers.

That signing will come two weeks from today on national signing day.

Mack committed to South Carolina last summer, de-committed Tuesday and chose Auburn over Florida in an announcement at his high school in St. Matthews, S.C.

Mack visited Auburn last September and the Tigers did not forget. Reporting the commitment first were AuburnSports.com and AuburnUndercover.com and Inside the Auburn Tigers.  They are there and have the quotes, and we're guessing video, too.

Mack is 6-foot-4, 315 pounds and, at least on Tuesday night, was one of the top uncommitted offensive linemen on national recruiting boards. ESPN has him rated as the No. 2 offensive guard nationally. Rivals says he's the No. 6 offensive guard. Scout says he's the fifth best lineman.

Mack gives Auburn 23 commitments for the 2010 signing class. The Tigers also welcomed five newcomers wen the spring semester started this month. They count back to the 2009 class. They're eligible to participate in spring practice.
