Today i talked to a coach from Faith Academy H.S. in Mobile. The coach told me that Gerald West was wavering on his commitment to Bama. Apparently Saban came by this week and basically asked West if he was still committed. West replied he was 90% sure, but was visiting Auburn this weekend. Saban said, that if you are going to Auburn this weekend then i will be looking for me another cornerback to fill your spot. West was pretty gutzy and said, well then you need to go do that b/c i promised CGC i was visiting. The source that told me this is not only a high school coach but, his son has been through the same thing as West with recruiting. His son goes to LSU and was a highly recruited prospect two years ago out of Mobile. West was also being recruited by ex coach JW. Apparently, Willis backed off the recruitment b/c of a former coach at davidson h.s. in Mobile told him that West had character flaws. West has always been an Auburn fan growing up. He also told me that Willis was never a good recruiter in Mobile and that most of these kids went to Auburn to play with siblings or b/c of Auburn itself. Also, Willis has burned many bridges down in southern Alabama. This coach also told me some interesting stuff about the ex regime but, thats a story for another day. All of this story has been paraphrased and i believe most of it. This coach is a stand up guy and he knew way to much to be making this up. He has coached at 4 different H.S. in Mobile and knows his stuff. It was one of the best recruting conversations i have ever had. Everybody can form there own opinion about this but, i guess we will know on signing day what the real story is. As of 12 o'clock today West wanted to go to AU.
I wonder what his "Character Flaws" are?

Also, two players that signed with LSU, two years ago out of Mobile, were Sidell Corley and Phelon Jones.

West committed with the understanding that he had to make progress in the classroom because we needed guys to be able and contribute right away at CB, and that he was not going to have a spot if he did not make the required progress. Supposedly, he was not making that progress and was not on track to qualify, thus the switch to USM. This also explains why he did not look into any of the other SEC schools he had offers from (AU, UF, MSU, USC) and already knew where he was going when he decommited. I think that post is total bullshit. It seems every time its something about the evil CNS threatening to pull a scholarship for visiting School X or School Y. Last I checked, Petey Smith is still a commit and he visited AU. If West was that staunch in his support of CGC, why isn't he going to AU? Grades, plain and simple. I know some of you aren't that big on logic, but....

The idea that Southern Miss can get guys in who don't qualify for the SEC is absolute bullshit.

It's BULLSHIT justification on your part.  USM can't take anybody who won't make it to an SEC school.

You're spewing the same misinformed garbage the crybaby LSU fans did last year when DeAndre Brown -- the best freshman WR in the country, BTW -- spurned them and went to the Golden Eagles.

C-USA does have lower admission standards than the SEC, but OK. You can have a 2.0 GPA and still get into USM. What SEC school do you think will take you with a 2.0 GPA?

Yeah.  And it's not even a joke.

http://www.apply4admissions.com/CDetails/Cinfo/Main/Section3/00006/Requirements.htm (http://www.apply4admissions.com/CDetails/Cinfo/Main/Section3/00006/Requirements.htm)

Minimum composite ACT score of 22 (combined SAT I score of 1030R) and minimum 2.0 GPA in academic core courses required.

Entry requirements at USM and UA are virtually identical.

Please provide the next spin angle.

Its funny that some website called Apply4Admissions would know that, when UA doesn't even list a required GPA for enrollment. They review each admission application on a case by case basis I think. Yeah, if I'm dumb enough to have a 2.0 GPA something tells me I am not scoring a 22 on the ACT. Just a guess.......

What is the minimum requirement at AU?

I wouldn't bet on this either.  I did nothing in high school except play sports and fuck off and barely had over a 2.0 and scored a 27.  Next.

Some kids are actually smart enough to do well on the ACT and just don't give a shit or goof off to much to do good on thier classroom work.  Just sayin.

2.5? Odd, AU doesn't give a GPA required on their admissions site either. Like the UA site, it says the applications will be considered on a case by case basis. So, how does this website know what the admission standards are at two schools who don't even give it on their own websites?

I couldn't begin to tell you.  I was just using the same measuring stick that was cited for SPUAT.  I imagine the site is run by a bunch of AU grads who print all that misinformation just to screw with prospective SPUAT students.

Even if we used this information, hypothetically, if West had a 2.0 GPA and a 18 on the ACT, he still would not get in to UA, according to that site. And as I have already stated, I question the validity of that site's information when the schools themselves don't even post that.

A guy I know who played for Foley wanted to get into AU and try to walk-on and they wouldn't let him with a 2.6 and I think an 18 on the ACT. He ended up at Troy and still couldn't walk-on there, but it was due to his lack of skill.

It wasn't too bad.  He used the handle end first.

My grades were okay but my ACT was far less than the tits.  I was and average to suck level pitcher with a rag arm.  My dad was a scholly contributor along with his good friend and they set it up to get me in if I walked on.  Coach Nix called me and asked me to walk on and shit.  I was all pumped about playing baseball for Auburn until I was at the end of Fall practice and realized all I had done since the day I set foot on the field.....was run.....and run....and run...and run.

Oh yeah, I did get to throw a few innings in a scrimmage and got hit in the chest with a line drive from the clean up hitter.  Good times.

I took up volleyball after that.

I did pound one girl on the women's volleyball team.  Not anally.

It wasn't for lack of trying, though.

Back to the Gerald West story....I think it depends on if the $abanator wants him to qualify or not, since he lost his qualifying guys to Clemson and Tennessee, I think that has put a little kink in the qualifying staff.

You're seriously using Kerry Murphy as an example? Seriously? He has spent two years getting qualified. That was probably the dumbest example you could use.

News Flash: The NCAA investigated the Josh Chapman situation and said that UA didn't do shit wrong and it wasn't their fault that Hoover was crooked as fuck internally. Thank you, Mr. Propst. I bet you guys still think we're going to face sanctions and forfeitures for playing him.
