Auburn this weekend. After a visit from Luper today, Randle has dropped OSU's visit, and will now visit Auburn this weekend, along with LaVoyd James and Terrance Coleman.
-
Holy shit.
Wow.
I'm all like "WTF?"
This is Auburn. We don't get attention from #1 prospects in the state let alone the entire damn country. I know we don't really have a shot in hell, but I'm still thoroughly impressed that we're getting these guys to visit.

Chizic was the worst hire ever!

I thought the same thing when I heard that we were going to go after Tyrik Rollison and Bryce Brown. Speaking of which Coach Luper will be stopping by to see Bryce Brown today.
-
Don't these guys understand that none of these prospects fit the Auburn mold?
-
he's going to LSU, but its still fun to see you guys get all excited. not a bad job pulling a visit from him, though.

And you talked to him when??? These guys are decommitting left and right. I don't know squat about this kid or what his mindset is, but what's to prevent him from coming in here and falling in love with the place and/or seeing the opportunityt to be the man right away?
-
And you talked to him when???
Don't you know? RWS is required to blow the #1 rated receiver in the country every year. It started with Whoolio. If RWS had known they were going to fall madly and passionately in love and go gang banging (in both possible meanings of the term) every weekend together he probably wouldn't have signed on to be the national puffer.

its not a HUGE secret, according to him LSU and Alabama are pretty much at the top of his list. personally i didn't think we had that much of a shot at him to begin with, i just don't think he will go out of state. its not a knock to AU, he's just one of those that would be a miracle for anybody to pull out of LA. it would be a miracle if he went to Alabama or AU.

Reporting on scout that Randle is no longer on the visit list for this weekend. Maybe we don't have enough money.
-
Rws is Farva! He's the the inside source we all teabag!
-
Randle's dad isn't sure about the visit. His head coach confirmed it with Rivals.
Also, RWS is right. The kid is LSU bound unless we do some serious cruitin'. However, it did get Auburn in the recruiting papers and kids will notice that top prospects visit Auburn.

We JUST got the visit confirmed LAST NIGHT. It might be a "courtesy visit", but the fact he's coming says a lot about what our new staff is doing. I love how even though it's happening now, with an all new staff that was evidently persuasive enough to convince him to visit Auburn, that RWS KNOWS anything.... fucking douche.
-
There's a possibility that Rueben Randle won't be able to visit this weekend, it depends on if his father is able to get off of work in time to make the trip with him. We won't know anything until tomorrow sometime.

RWS doesn't know shit. He hasn't talked to this kid or his coach or his parents or anybody else. Neither has anyone else on this board. If he comes here for a visit, he's coming for a reason and our new coaching staff has the chance to pimp Auburn to him (A place I'm sure he's never been to) and let him see that he could be the man right away if he comes.
Look, what the hell did we say over and over and over to spin Saban's recruiting classes? Well? "Oh, the only reason Saban is getting these guys is they've sucked and he can offer them the chance to step in and play right away" Right? Anyone recall that?
If everyone believes what they ripped Saban for, then why can't that happen here? Do we need WR's? Do we need a QB? Do we need a lot of playmakers?

Exactly. All of it.

It looks like Randle was not able to visit this weekend on such a short notice, but plans on visiting later this month. ----per rivals

Actually it was said also that Randle could have made it this weekend, but his father couldn't so AUBURN told him, it would be better for his father to be there and to reschedule. That went over very positively with the Randle household. He WILL reschedule.
-
Being reported by some that Randle is now rescheduling his official visit to Auburn on February 4th. That would be interesting if true, because that's signing day. We'll have to see about that one....

That's Doug Segrest for ya....first he tells Clint Moseley's father that Auburn offered a full scholarship to the Daphne QB, getting Moseley's father pissed at Auburn, eventhough Auburn isn't offering a scholarship to the Daphne QB. Now this, there's a good chance that Segrest is making this up just to publish something. What will the bammers try next.....

Yeah. It's a media conspiracy.
Neither Moseley or the kid at Daphne will get an SEC offer other than Auburn. If they want to walk away and go to Tiddly Winks U, so what?
-

I'm thinking it is seriously media conspiracy.
January 13, 2009 - Auburn screws nice-guy Chaz Ramsey; Auburn won't offer Mosely, so father bad-mouths AU; Rueben Randle was never interested in AU according to his father; Kevin Steele absolutely loves Alabama but just wanted to spread Saban's ingenius defense; Kerry Murphy, from dumbass to college.
WOW...lost of fairness in these articles. Where were the articles that investigated Prothro's infection and how the team fucked him over? Why leave out the fact that Randle scheduled a visit to AU, but his father couldn't get off of work. Now, his father is emphatically stating that Randle is "not really" interested in AU. He's visiting Bama and LSU and Miami. You know, the schools that guaranteed him money if he convinces his son to sign there. FISH I SMELL.
-
Segrest's article has been "edited". Also, it has been reported on rivals that the Daphne QB was NOT offered a scholarship. It was a grayshirt that was offered.
-
TIFWIW....the word on the skreet, now, is that Coach $ told Rueben's father that he would pull his son's scholarship if he decided to visit Auburn.
-
TIFWIW....the word on the skreet, now, is that Coach $ told Rueben's father that he would pull his son's scholarship if he decided to visit Auburn.
Is that the PLOI skreet or the grade changing skreet? Or is this a totally new skreet?
Think about this for a second. The #1 player in the country who can go to any school he wants is going to listen to threats from one school in Alabama? Rueben Randle can call Urban Meyer right now and commit, but he's going to listen to the midget with devil horns threaten his scholarship? Unless it's been Randle's dream to attend Bama, he has no reason to negotiate with Saban the Terrorist.
It's a baseless rumor.
However, I will listen up for the rumors about why his dad has been adamently against Randle visiting Auburn. Smells fishy - like, you get money if your kid goes here fishy.
-

That might be what's really going on. "If your son visits Auburn, you won't be getting _______ or X amount of $$$."

hey, whatever makes you sleep better at night. CNS has openly encouraged kids to take their visit and the kids openly admit in interviews that he encourages them to take all of the visits that they can and enjoy the recruiting process. this thread is turning borderline pathetic. like THS said, the kid could go anywhere in the country he wanted. he will more than likely go to LSU for that matter. but all of a sudden big bad CNS is telling him where he can and cannot visit. i guess the spin on it is that CNS doesn't want CGC getting ahold of him because he's a recruiting machine and will snatch him away from Alabama or something. otherwise i can't imagine why the rumor would be started in the first place. whatever makes you guys feel better though.
-
And that, ladies and gentlemen is one. magic. scholarship. offer.

And that is exactly why the phrase "you look...we'll look" was coined in regard to Dinky.
Too bad about Randle though...I was all ready to start referring to him as Teh Whoolio. :taunt:

the "you shop, we shop" was the phrase he used when he was first hired when asked what he would do about any guys currently on the team looking to transfer or any commits looking to decommit because of his hiring. i know you guys love to throw that phrase up there, its just a shame you have conveniently forgotten its context. in regards to visits, it would be outrageous to expect kids to not take visits during their recruitment.

I think you're going to have to prove that. My memory says you're wrong about the timing and context.

It had nothing at all to do with guys who were currently on the team, and everything to do with the guys who had previously committed to the Shula regime.

I don't know his source, but jumbo just texted me that Randle will visit Auburn on Jan. 30.

Our local sports talk guy said that this morning too. They need to have about 5 hot ass babes ready to cater to his every whim.....IF you know what I mean.

What chu talkin' bout Willie Williams?
-
I'm not so sure that Rueben will be at Auburn on the 30th. He's visiting LSU this weekend, I would be surprised if "the hat" didn't try to tighten the vise on landing RR this weekend....that would mean, no more visits. I'm just happy that the new coaching staff talked to him, I'd be even happier if the coaching staff is actually able to get him to come in for an Official.

"Randle says he has narrowed his choices to Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma and Tennessee, with Ole Miss as a longshot. He has basically ruled out Miami.
'Ole Miss is questionable,' Randle said. 'Miami, I'm probably going to let that go."
Hmmm....what happened to uat?

you have a link to where you got that quote from? i would like to see that entire story, i'm curious if he is speaking of who is going to get his last remaining official visit, which i think it is. in that case, he has already made an official to UA. i highly, highly doubt that is him speaking of who might be finalists for his signature, as he has never really said much about that except that he held LSU and Alabama in high regard. soooo, lets see what all that link says.....

BASTROP -- High wide receiver Rueben Randle, the nation's No. 2-ranked overall prospect, will arrive at LSU on Thursday and will make his final official visit to Auburn next weekend.
Randle spent last weekend at Alabama.
"It was a good visit," said Randle of his visit to Tuscaloosa. "They treated everybody well. Everything was organized and well-orchestrated.
"This visit was mainly for my parents. I had already been up there a couple of times. Mainly, I just tried to enjoy the atmosphere."
Mark Scott
Randle says LSU and Auburn are his last two visits
New Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin was in Bastrop on Tuesday, making in-house visits with Randle and his teammate, defensive tackle D.D. Jones. Kiffin, evidently, made an impression. Last week, Randle's interest in the Volunteers was lukewarm, at best. On Wednesday afternoon, Randle included Tennessee on his short list.
Randle says he has narrowed his choices to Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma and Tennessee, with Ole Miss as a longshot. He has basically ruled out Miami.
"Ole Miss is questionable," Randle said. "Miami, I'm probably going to let that go."
Randle said last week that he will probably wait until National Signing Day (Feb. 4) to announce his decision. He is undecided on where he will make the announcement.
"I don't know how I'm going to handle that yet," Randle said.
Meanwhile, Randle is resurrecting his baseball career during his limited free time. Randle attracted Division I interest while starting at shortstop for the Rams as a sophomore, before focusing on football as a junior.
"This is my last year of high school, so I'm trying to enjoy everything," Randle said.
First-year coach Whit Whitlock is experimenting with Randle in center field.
"I have played center field before, but it has never been my primary position," Randle said.
Jones, rated as the No. 25 defensive tackle prospect in the nation, also received an in-home visit from Michigan head coach Rich Rodriguez and linebackers coach Jay Hopson on Tuesday. The 6-4, 295-pounder has scheduled official visits for Ann Arbor this weekend and Tennessee on Jan. 30.
Although he pledged to the Wolverines over the summer, Jones has taken official visits to Arkansas and Auburn.
Michigan does have a couple of built-in advantages in recruiting Jones. Hopson recruited former Bastrop defensive end Deddrick Jones, D.D.'s older brother, while at Southern Mississippi. Also, Jones has family ties in the Ann Arbor area.

i wasn't asking for a link proving that he said that, i was asking for a link to see the entire story. i think Prowler cut/pasted only part of the story to make it look like RR eliminated UA from his choices to go to college and that AU is now in. i contend that the subject matter of that quote was in reference to where he will go for his final remaining visit and that Prowler posted what he posted to spin it that UA was eliminated for his signature. fuckwad.
-
interesting....LSU should be getting a good one.
-
I see your point and from reading the story apple posted, I would lean more toward the prowler stance of Auburn, UT, LSU and Oklahoma being his finalist. It doesn't really spell it out real clear though so nothing would suprise me...
yeah, it didn't seem very clear but as i've said before, i think we all knew he wasn't going to Alabama anyways. wish we could have landed him, but he is LSU bound.
-
interesting....LSU should be getting a good one.
All I heard from the Alabama rednecks was that it was between UAT and LSU. Come to find out, the Alabama visit was a fucking courtesy visit for his Mom.
He will probably go to LSU, but it is funny to me how you fuck wads (UAT fans) just make shit up to make yourselves feel like you are on top, when in actuality, you are just a mediocre program!!!!
-

he had said before (months ago) that Alabama and LSU were nearly even, but any logical Alabama fan knew he was and still is going to go to LSU. i've never said anything different than that either, on here and on AUN. at this point, him visiting any school other than LSU is nothing more than a courtesy visit if you really think about it, so it doesn't really bother me. and btw, if Alabama is a mediocre program, then AU is one of the lower tier programs in the country for comparison purposes. and that isn't looking to change all that much in 09 either. congratulations.
-

One good year and 1 iron bowl win in 7 years and you are back to your cocky fucking ways. How the fuck do you know what is going to happen in '09. Alabama may go undefeated next year, but it is going to be a hell of a lot harder to do without a senior QB and the #1 pick in the draft starting on your OL. Do you think you are going to dominate just because you are Alabama?
-

I am really curious on how everyone knows that he is going to LSU?? I said probably, because that is what is written on message boards. From what I understand from his HS coach and the media (cause you know that you can trust them) is that he is keeping all his thoughts to himself. Where are you getting your info RWS??? Is it just because he is from LA? That would probably make him a lean, but not a lock!
-
So, Randall's coming to Auburn on the 30th? I thought General Sargeant Major Bugg wasn't scheduled to be back for another month. WooHoo...beers at Mama G's.

some guys its just a gut feeling. feel free to ridicule me if i'm wrong, but he will go to LSU. i say that because thats just what i feel. he was at LSU unofficially almost on a weekly basis during the summer, has shown alot of enthusiasm while there, and thats his home state. its hard to pull guys out of LA in the first place, especially when they are highly ranked. mama wants him close to home, and thats the way its going to be.

Fair enough....I guess we will just wait and see!
Just for the record, I think it is a long shot for auburn!

I am not talking about Auburn!! If you read this forum, then you will see that a majority of us are concerned on where the Auburn program is heading! I could be wrong (and I hope that i am) but, rightfully concerned!
I am talking about fucking UAT, you guys have one decent year (not to mention that you lost your last two games) and a couple of good recruiting classes and yall are fucking back with the elites of college football. YOU ARE NOT!! Florida, Ok, USC, TX are on top right! Alabama is a mediocre program, and has been for the last 25 years!!! FUCKING FACE IT!!!!!

don't feel bad, i think it was a long shot for Alabama as well.

oh, and just as a side note, apparently the author of the story at TigerBait conveniently "omitted" Alabama from RR's quote. the story is now corrected and includes Alabama.

Yeah, I was just about to post that. Take a look at his Top 5; LSU, OU, uat, Auburn, and UT. Which one of those teams have a veteran QB coming back? OU. I think it's going to come down to LSU and OU, with RR signing with UT, because of Coach YawYaw....Or, he could surprise Everyone and commit to Old Mrs.....who the fuck really knows. Everyone is saying LSU, but 55% of the time everyone is 75% wrong.
