Title: The Swifter Bowl
Post by: Kaos on February 11, 2024, 12:10:32 PM
NFL has lost most of my interest.  I’ve been turned off by the entire operation since Cam was (in my lone personal opinion) forced to stand down for Peyton’s swan song, something that didn’t sit well with him and something for which he’s been punished ever since.  It further lost me with the knee-jerk fealty to the false racial narrative and the continued woke messaging.

Today they’ll play the Swifter Bowl.  A rigged game designed by the league to generate interest and viewership in a demographic that typically ignores the game - at the same time alienating the demographic that built the league into what it became.

As for Taylor Swift?  I don’t hate her.  I do find her singularly untalented.  Her voice is grating, her lyrics infantile, her “music” uninspired and bland.  She’s the epitome of a corporately produced entity.  She’s essentially what an AI bot would create. No soul. No substance. No depth.  No talent.

I don’t want to watch her (poorly) choreographed and inauthentic “reactions” to every play that involves family dollar gronk.

I used to love the Super Bowl.  Sadly? I won’t miss it … again.   Good luck to the league in hanging on to the brain-dead horde of swift fans - who will almost certainly move on to their next faux social justice outrage moments after the confetti falls.

I don’t want to get on a CTEish type rant about the kneelers and fags. But I agree with him on all that and I have a problem supporting a black national anthem. But the truth is, I lost interest in the NFL decades before Kapperfunkle ever knelt. I guess the last time I watched was in my 20’s. Not that I have purposely avoided it. I just don’t care. It’s a completely different game than college and I agree somewhat with K that there very well could have been a script, at least for some games. I don’t trust them.

Sort of in the same place plus I don't give a shit about the halftime entertainment. Turns it into a doubleheader. Just do it like gameday and play the fucking game.

Woke up this morning to find that the pre-ordained result had been achieved.

At least the WWE finally admitted it was scripted.

Seems that way to me as well. Didn't watch a down.
Reading the far reaching, ridiculous connections associated with the event is enough for me.

It was a mostly boring and sloppy game that tightened up in the final moments.

The ads were lame.

The halftime show was...ok.

concur.

i'll ad the ads were more female centric than ever before...maybe the swifty effect?   my only pause is the amount of time these ads take to create and produce.  other factors in play.

having a teenaged daughter ...this was the first Super Bowl she watched end to end.  definitely the swifty effect.

wasn't a big fan of post or reba.

Cancel culture is killing comedy.  Superbowl commercials throughout my growin' up years were mostly hilarious.  Now, they are complete ass and everyone is playing it too safe.

Not even trying to make it political, my friend. Just speaking on the death of comedy in movies/television. People are scared to take risks outside of standup these days.

Take a look at You Tube "Loudermilk" ordering coffee. It's what we genuinely want to say to someone only we resist because it might cause conflict.

Horrible game until the last quarter and OT.  Didn’t see Post, but caught Reba.  Great job, because she stepped up, sang it and got off.  Didn’t try and make it the performance of a lifetime.

Commercials were pretty lame for the most part.  Christopher Walken and Arnold were funny.  Halftime?  Jeez, that was pitiful.  I actually like Usher, but it was slow song after slow song, while he tried to hippity hop dance through 8,000 people packed on the field doing 400 different things.  Uninspiring and kept dragging on.

Just get back to basics.  Put a bad ass band on stage and rock the house.

Super Bowl viewership trends (trended) heavily older white.

Who do they trot out for halftime entertainment?  Nothing that appeals to that demographic.

Glad I missed it.  Glad I missed the post-game embrace with all the passion of two squirrels killed in the road.  Glad I missed an asshole assault his coach - something he should have been benched for.

You can’t help but avoid the aftermath.  But I’m glad I missed the entire fraudulent thing.

This begs to question, if a black player had done this to Andy Reid, how many years of prison would he be facing?

Holy crap on a cracker.  Ads were entertaining for the most part.  The game was dominated by two good defenses.  I can’t address the halftime show.  Not my bag.

I’d hit it.

Would have to part the Red Sea to get to it, but I could see how it might be worth it.

I've already sent a suggestion in to the Super Bowl Entertainment Committee for next year's halftime show.  I believe they would bring the house down with:

Jackson Heights own, Mr. Randy Watson & Sexual Chocolate

Dat boy gooood!!!

Well if the NFL is scripted it hardly matters who we pull for now does it?

Fuck the Chefs.

All of 'em, or just a select few?  I love watching Guy's Grocery Games on occasion.  They (some legitimate Chef's) make some pretty cool dishes in an almost impossible competition setting.  Riveting television.
