For the record (again) I despise masks. I think they're idiotic and most of the people who shriek and cry over them don't even wear their crocheted beauties properly. So fuck a mask from the jump.
For your information, however, here is the exact reality of the rationale behind locking down, masking, canceling holiday plans and avoiding interaction with other people in the state of Alabama (this information comes directly from the fear-porn site established by the state):
284,922 total cases. Oh, the fucking HORROR!!!
A little perspective. Only 234,000 of those are confirmed. The term "cases" includes any positive test. So the person who works for me who got tested 12 times (every time she had the sniffles) and then tested every two days after her first positive had three total positives. She's three of those cases. So are all the false positives.
A little more perspective. There are 4.9 million people in the state. So if you do a little math, taking the confirmed cases only? The "infection rate" is LESS THAN FIVE FUCKING PERCENT. Let me say that again. The "infection rate" is less than five percent.
3,569 confirmed deaths. Oh the fucking HORROR!!!
A little perspective. That "confirmed" total includes innumerable people who were in terminal stages of other diseases and were diagnosed "with" COVID. You will not find anywhere the actual statistics of people for whom COVID was the actual primary cause of the death. Why? Because that number is infinitesimally small. My best guess is that the number is well under 1000. I wouldn't put it much above 300 based on the apocryphal stories I've heard. I'm honestly not sure based on everything I've seen and heard that there is a single death solely attributable to this virus.
But let's just let that 3569 ride.
So if you "have" it, not taking into consideration age groups or co-morbidities, or contributing factors, the chance of you actually dying WITH (not from) COVID is less than one percent. Let me reiterate that. LESS THAN ONE PERCENT.
Those are the facts. That is the science. Running around like a fool with a mask strapped to your face is not science. Cowering in your home like a beaten sheep is not science.
Those numbers hold true pretty much across the country. What's interesting to me is the more stringent the governor is in regard to masks/lockdowns/nazi-ism the more "cases" their state has. Morons.
Shut the fuck up, grandma. Shut your pie hole Biden. Fuck you. No more masks. Go on about your business.

The follow up to this?
A "vaccine" is not necessary for something you are unlikely to get and less likely to suffer ill effects from.
You know what I need a vaccine for? Medical error. There were more deaths attributed to medical error in the US in 2019 than all of the "COVID deaths" to date.
Vaccinate people in high risk groups if you must. But leave me out of it. I don't want it. I won't take it.
Somebody is going to have to stand up and put a stop to this. Does it have to be me?

Total cases also don’t reflect recovered people who no longer have it. It’s just a running total that gets a +1 every time someone tests positive and it keeps going. Active cases is really the number they should throw on the front page. But they don’t.

I didn't listen. I also went into Target today, didn't wear a mask and noticed that it was about 50/50. They were glaring at us at the front door but have no legal standing to enforce it.
"Can I offer you a mask?"
No thanks.

same at Home Depot at lunch. I wore mine in just in case. I’m going in real quick and need to get something.
But Soon as I get in and see one person without one and it’s not really being enforced? I simply put mine in my pocket.

I keep one in my back pocket because I don't want to be that guy who ends up on a viral video brawling with somebody over a mask.
But unless it's something I desperately have to have? When they demand I wear one, I turn around and leave.
