We have five to six spots remaining...to finish.
We need a high profile offensive tackle and defensive tackle, two of each would be better.
Anybody that can cover a receiver would be a great addition.

Midgets, the foreigner that's new to the sport, a track guy that's fearful of contact and anybody that just turned into a three star because we had them on the back burner are likely wastes.

Most likely, but maybe a gem or two in there.

On the positive side, this class sports SIXTEEN 4* players (per ITAT).  That's quite a bit of quality. My ONLY gripe about this class is the lack of OL.

Yep.  They got quality at every position with the exception of OL.  That is, if you believe in teh stars.  I look more at just what you posted.  16 four star kids (So far) in this class.  Stars don't mean much with regard to insuring success or failure of an individual kid.  But 16+ four star kids in a class absolutely insures that you have a ton of overall talent.

The two O-linemen signed are both 3*.  But, they're also some full grown young men.  Stutts is 6'4" 330.  They were on both of them early so the hope is they saw something in them that said they can play at this level.

It's going to take some serious magic, hoodoo, witchcraft and the like for cJBG to whip what we have into a SEC quality line or some reasonable facsimile of last season's unit. I am concerned as in, will we win more than seven games concerned?

There's talent and a bit of experience:

Calvin Ashley (5*)
Nick Brahms (4*)
Marquel Harrell (4*)
Kaleb Kim (4*)
Prince Sammons (4*)
Austin Troxell (4*)
Prince Tega (4*)
Tyler Carr (3*)
Brodarious Hamm (3*)
Mike Horton (3*)
Bailey Sharp (3*)

Definitely cause for concern, but Grimes has proven himself capable of fielding a nasty unit.

I've read about this Horton going on three seasons.
I've also seen Harrell and Winnebago. Not so impressed.
Sharp came in a few times as an extra TE. Jeez he might be considered our best tackle.
The rest are hanging around the sidelines like Sal Canella making like hype boys.

According to 247, we have 22 signed.  So far, not one of them is anyone who wasn't already signed (Obviously) or a verbal commit.  Seemingly all of the top targets have inked elsewhere.  Is there anyone we're still waiting on to announce?

Caleb Johnson - Northside HS, Cols, GA.

This one happened late. Lot of upside. Considered a HIGH 3 star.

Was considered a strong UF lean going into today. So thats a win for the good guys. UF had a bad bad day.

6'3 245 OLB

The things I've been reading on Fuqua seem to indicate they may not sign him.  Or gray shirt him or whatever they do.  Nothing specific but I've seen two articles that alluded to an extra spot opening up if Fuqua doesn't work out.  Could mean anything.  Then again, he could sign.

Unless he doesn't.

You heard it here first, folks.

This has been a weird day.  The kid who picked Florida while his mom was wearing Bama crap and then she stormed out?  Guess she figures she's got to give the money back.

A&M turning a few at the finish line.

Georgia raping and pillaging. Kirby Dumb isn't as good at cheating as Saban and the Tide.  I fully expect an Ole-Missish end result to the day they just had.

Plus with the early signing dealio, it was really like nobody cared.   This day lost its sizzle.  I think that's good.

FWIW, if you read al.com at all, their take on signing day is that we "missed out" on pretty much everybody on our board today -- including some we were never in the mix for anyway.  But let's list them all just in case.

With regard to Georgia....Fuck Georgia!

They are cheating Bama level.  They're going to dominate for a while until they actually beat Saban. Then it will start to implode.  But until that time, UGA will be a top 5 program from this point forward.

Correct...until they get busted, they are officially a machine over there. 8 Five Stars in this class for them. Bama never did that.

This class didn't have a lot of Wow factor.  But it's got a ton of talent and made us deeper and stronger at every position except O-line.  Still got a couple of slots left and maybe they'll address the big uglies with those.  Very happy with the haul.  This staff can still do some mighty fine cruitin'.

Agree. So here is my take and some perspective.

A class is only as good as two things: 1. the needs that are met and 2. if the guys actually ever get to the field and qualify academically.

We've had more wow classes in the past. Higher ranked ones too. But how many of those kids made it to campus or the team? How many have some serious character questions? This reminds me of that class chizik had. Some services had it number 1. I think half of that class was a bust. Hardly a true number 1 class. My point here? This class met some needs aside from lacking an OL or two. It seems to have guys who won't have issues qualifying for the most part. It seems to have good character kids who won't go all Duke, Mincy or Kyle Davis on us.

I'll take 4 #12 classes all day long when needs are met and 95% of the signees suit up. I'll take that over a #4 class that has huge attrition and contributes sparingly on the field for whatever reason. Woody Barretts make a class look good on paper. It sells lots of magazines in February. But if he fizzles out then what good is it.

A couple of things I read today that were interesting on the krootin'.  While our ranking was higher last year, the overall points (for lack of a better term) were higher in this class.  In other words, it was a better overall class than last year.  It was several other teams like USC and FSU that picked up their games at the last minute and jumped us.

The other was something Malzahn said.  He basically said with the early signing period, that guys who held out til yesterday, were pretty much the biggest prizes.  Most teams, including AU, had already signed more than half their classes, so more teams could put an all out blitz on these 5 star kids at the end. He said his priority was making sure they stayed on the 8 guys that committed but didn't sign early.

I also saw where 8 of our guys have already enrolled. I knew some had but I didn't realize it was 8.  That's pretty cool that you can get that many in the system and most importantly, the weight room, this early.

Sounds like Anderson's visit to the Plains was productive:

"Auburn is just SEC; I think that is the best way to differentiate them, is the conferences," Anderson said Sunday. "Every conference is known for a different thing. I think SEC is just a bigger -- I don't know. Big is what comes to mind. It's like a synonym. Bigger opponents, bigger stage, bigger platform."

...

I mean, guys who I saw and met yesterday, and guys that are going to be playing against you every day that are going to the NFL, first two rounds," Anderson said. "So that's huge, and that's a big thing I look for, too, because I want to play against the best. You can't be the best without playing the best. So that definitely helps separate them from other people."

...

"I think they helped themselves greatly," Anderson said. "I already thought pretty highly of Auburn and I didn't know much about it, and now that I know a lot more than I did, I think they went from being great to more great."
