This day just got shittier.
Tom has died. Massive heart attack.
Loved this guy. He was one of my favorites. And it didn't get much cooler than him.
Edit: cbs and others have restracted the death stories. Tom is still here. Gosh I hope he makes it.

Weird because some major outlets are reporting it. I saw it from cbs.
But others like his official Xm channel and tmz are not reporting it.

Yeah, this one sucks big time. I don't mean this like it sounds, but I'm almost glad it was a heart attack and not how so many have gone recently. Suicide and overdose are preventable for the most part. I look at it like he lived on his own terms until something took him.

Tmz and fox are reluctant to say he's dead while billboard, NBC and cbs said he was gone. What a weird fuckin day this has been all the way around.

Recently confirmed. He's gone.
From his FB page:
On behalf of the Tom Petty family we are devastated to announce the untimely death of our father, husband, brother, leader and friend Tom Petty.
He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived.
He died peacefully at 8:40pm PST surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.

Yep this hurts. I am lucky enough to have seen him at least 10 times. He's the reason I play guitar now. Used to play in a band called Petty Cash. Yes we played a lot of his and Cash songs. Last time I saw him was 2003 as I was getting divorced. Saw him on a Thursday in Ft.Myers turned around and saw him in Nawlins.Damn!
