Title: Congressman Shot
Post by: Snaggletiger on June 14, 2017, 07:51:02 AM
From what I've seen so far, they have an annual baseball game between Repubs and Dems and some were getting in an early morning practice before work.  I'll be interested to know if this was a personal vendetta or something more along the lines of a wacko protestor going off the deep end.  I think more the latter, but we'll wait and see.  fox news

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot in the hip and at least one other aide was also hit in the chest by a gunman with a rifle who opened fire at a baseball practice in Virginia Wednesday morning, Fox News confirmed.

Police tweeted they "believed" the gunman was in custody. Sen. Mike Lee told Fox News, however, the gunman was dead. He said a staffer used a belt as a tourniquet to stop Scalise's bleeding.

The shots were reported on East Monroe Street in Del Ray, Alexandria police said on Twitter at 7:30 a.m. The location was near a YMCA.

Rand Paul says he is sure the gunman was using an AR-15.
Rep. DeSantis says he was leaving a few minutes before the shooting and was asked by someone if those were Republicans or Democrats practicing.

Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks was on the scene, used his belt as a tourniquet on one of the injured.

Can't wait to see which one of the late night "comedians" blames Trump, guns, Jesus, and the Confederate Flag for this.

Hey dipshit, zero people died BECAUSE a good guy with a gun was there to return fire.

How many more died when bombs and cars were used as weapons in multiple attacks in England this month?

This argument is always idiotic, but infinitely more so in this example.

Hey shit for brains, no one is talking about England. All the bombs and cars don't change the fact that Sen. Rand Paul stated last year that the 2nd Amendment is for shooting at a tyrannical government.

James T. Hodgkinson committed a terrorist act, like I pointed out earlier.

Yeah. Shooting at a tyrannical govt means showing up to a ball field and mowing people down. That's exactly why the 2nd amendment exists. You are lower than snake shit.

So?

I say that seriously. So?

He was only there because Scalise, a high ranking member of Congress, was there.

If no "good guy with a gun", whether they have a badge or not, was present, we'd be looking at about 20 murdered GOP Congressmen and I don't think it'd be hyperbolic to say we might be on the brink of Civil War right now.

Would it be any different if Rand Paul was packin? It certainly wouldn't be worse than if no one were.

Yes, it would be different.  LEO, and specifically Capitol Police, are trained in the use of their weapon as well as situational training.

Your average wannabe with a sidearm would just exacerbate the situation, likely causing more mayhem/casualty.

Bullshit. This argument is bullshit.

We've found a rare line where I'm vociferously disagreeing with you.

Most people who own firearms are not fucking Barney Fife. Most people are well trained on how to use their weapon. The notion that if one or more of those senators had a firearm on them then they would have just started shooting aimlessly in 360 degrees, killing/injuring more people than the shooter intended to is not only supported by zero evidence, it is completely preposterous.

That it "would just exacerbate the situation, likely causing more mayhem/casualty" as opposed to the complete absence of any firearms from the "good guys" is a Prowleresque braindead idiotic thing to say, frankly.

Many of the terrorist attacks being carried out these days are done by stabbing, running a vehicle into a crowd, placing an explosive device near a crowd, suicide bomber/car bomb or just flying a plane into a building.  If someone wants to kill as many as possible, they'll find a way to try and accomplish it, gun or no gun.

Most people who CARRY are well practiced enough to place rounds in the direction that they are being attacked from. Most attackers avoid said rounds. Survival odds increase exponentially.

Nearly 5.3 Million car accidents per year, so no...most people aren't well trained how to drive, some are yeah, but not most. You proved my point. Also, just because you take instructional classes still doesn't mean you're well trained. Good god, you make the dumbest statements sometimes.

I'm not saying everyone with a license could win the Indy Cup, nor am I suggesting everyone with a firearm license could shoot a quarter off of a moving vehicle 200 yards away.

MOST people are well trained enough to not kill themselves or others accidentally by using either their cars or their guns.

And they sure as shit are capable enough to do more good than harm to protect themselves when a deranged lunatic is firing at them and others around them.

He told you to look it up.  Geez.  He just served your ass on a platter.

Also, he's an experienced "well trained" driving monitor in 2 Alabama counties.

Prove where most gun owners aren't trained.
When a child kills themselves every other day, due to the parents not knowing how to properly store their handgun, I chalk that up to most are not "well trained".

So it's your opinion but not actually true.

Kaos toys with chimp for his own amusement.

Token, Chizadsky and a few others attempt to reason with chimp, not realizing that its thought process rarely extends beyond "give banana"

There are a lot of good arguments on this forum.  I've actually changed my position on a few things based off very good arguments against what I believed.

How prowler can come here daily and get dumber is beyond belief.

Most??

So people getting killed by guns outnumbers those not killed by them when used? Really??

Your wild Wild West analogy - even dumb by your standards. Apples, meet oranges.

Posting in third person is not a good look, especially on you. Btw, my points have been proven time and again. Your points are merely opinion coming from Faux News or from your own diluted mind.

We are living in a alternate reality right now. Look at all of the clowns in the White House. Trump didn't know that being President would be hard and he hasn't done a fucking thing besides sign Executive Orders (which he rarely reads) and play golf all while managing to piss off nearly all of our allies. The movie Idiocracy is becoming a true story.

there's a fine line between order and chaos.

Just words. we will see if the actions match.

But this is almost like pandora. The box has been opened. It will take a while for it to close.

I saw today where someone took a shot at a truck with MAGA on the side. Do they really want to get this thing started?

Good to see.  foxnews

Ted Nugent is toning down his "hateful rhetoric" after a gunman opened fire at a GOP baseball practice Wednesday morning, critically wounding House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.

"I'm not going to engage in that kind of hateful rhetoric anymore," Nugent said Thursday on the WABC radio show "Curtis & Eboni."

Eboni K. Williams also is a co-host of the "Fox News Specialists."

The outspoken rocker said he is re-evaluating his tough-guy approach after the shooting in Alexandria, Virginia.

"At the tender age of 69, my wife has convinced me that I just can't use those harsh terms," Nugent said. "I cannot and I will not."

The often-controversial guitarist is known for his wild and inflammatory statements, such as telling President Obama to “suck on my machine gun” and labeling him a "subhuman mongrel." Nugent also called Hillary Clinton a "worthless b---h" in 2007.

Nugent also said he is encouraging his "friends [and] enemies on the left in the Democrat and liberal world that we have got to be civil to each other, that the whole world is watching America, where you have the God-given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and we have got to be more respectful to the other side."

Nugent admitted to sometimes getting heated, especially while performing on stage. He also promised to "avoid anything that can be interpreted as condoning or referencing violence" moving forward.

But he won't steer clear of politics all together saying he will still be "feisty" and "passionate."

Question for Chizzy:

I read where 50 shots were fired and 5 hit people. What percentage is this?

Thanks for all you do.
