Title: Corching Carrot Sale
Post by: Snaggletiger on December 06, 2016, 10:59:03 AM
Not nearly the same amount of news and rumors flying around on the coaching fires/hires etc. this year. But, it may be about to heat up a bit. Just saw where WKU Coach, Jeff Brohm, took the Purdue job.  When you get openings at a place like WKU, would boy-wonder Lashlee be in consideration? What about the Cincy Bearcats now that Tuberville is moving on?  I've heard Neil Brown of Troy mentioned several times but that may just be speculation from our local sports talk peeps.

Do you think Coach Freshwater is a serious candidate for the Houston job?  Personally, I don't get all the talk of him going to join Co Yaw Yaw.  Why would he do that?  Makes no sense.  The guy has 3 prior, high profile HC jobs and he would make a lateral move to another SEC West team, so he can get his ass handed to him by his former boss?  Yeah, I guess that does make perfect sense after all.

I keep hearing Brian Kelly can't get out of ND fast enough.  I'm sure they'd love for him to pack his bags.  Les Miles at Notre Dame?

Who takes the Oregon job?

Any other rumors out there?

Rumor is Ark St HC Blake Anderson is in negotiation with Baylor. Lashlee to Ark State? That would be interesting because more than likely Anderson would keep his staff leaving Kendal Briles hunting. Briles to Auburn?

Baylor just announced a few minutes ago that they hired Matt Rhule, former Temple HC.

True but seems like a lateral move to me. I guess I am still stuck on the idea of getting separation b/w Lashlee and Malzahn. Its not that I don't like Rhett really, it just seems these two are tied at the hip way too much and its obviously hurting the Auburn offense. If Gus can stay clear of play calling and do his HC duties while bringing the likes of Kendal Briles, I think we will see an immediate impact and turnaround on offense.

I think it's hurting more than the offense.  It's hurting team and staff chemistry.

The almighty ESPN scroll is reporting USF Coach, Willie Taggart, will be named the new Oregon Head Dude.  That was out of left field.  He has a losing overall record, but he did improve USF every year and in his 4 year stint, he took them from 2-10 to 10-2.  So, just off the top of my balding dome, I can think of Houston, Cincy, Temple, Western Kentucky and South Florida having vacancies.

This didn't surprise me too much.  His teams have went from shit storms to showing improvement every year.

2010 Western Kentucky 2–10  2–6  9th
2011 Western Kentucky 7–5   7–1   2nd
2012 Western Kentucky 7–5   4–4   5th  Little Caesars Pizza[n 1]

2014 South Florida 4–8     3–5  7th
2015 South Florida 8–5     6–2  2nd (East) L Miami Beach

I ain't blowing no man.  Well, unless I'm drunk, desperate and need the money.  Otherwise, I don't roll that way.  But I disagree...sort of.

Unfortunately, Bama has been unbelievably consistent on offense, no matter who is running the show or is under center.  They picked it up slightly under Coach Freshwater.  Yards per game and points:

2010:  444  36
2011:  420  35
2012:  445  39
2013:  454  30
2014:  484  37
2015:  427  35
2016:  471  40

Saban bought low, the same way he did with Kiffin.  I don't think Sark's phone was ringing much after the USC fiasco, and Saban gives 0 fucks about what the media thinks.  This was planned from the minute Sark was hired as an analyst IMO.  Saban knew that Kiffin had ran the course, and Sark was a built in replacement.

All I'm saying is that it's well known Sark has had problems with the drankn. Just surprised Saban trust the situation if Sark hasn't made a turn around.
Saban has healing powers.

Pretty sure Sark is on a double top secret probation

Well weepin' creepin' dear 8 lb baby jesus, can a man not drink too much and do something completely stupid and ridiculous without losing his job anymore?  what in the hell is world coming too?  Next thing you know, you won't be allowed to go into the flop and look at nekkid girls just because you're too drunk to walk and you're wearing your sunglasses at night for some stupid reason.  I'm not sure life is going to be worth living at that point.  I think this calls for a suicide pact,  you guys work out the details....

Read on ITAT/Scout that bama currently has 3 open coaching positions.

Deliberate interview/vetting process or dearth of viable candidates?

Maybe it was Scarb but I read somewhere that no one wanted to work for Saban in a coordinator capacity anymore. I believe that.

You just shut your dirty, whorish mouth!  Coordinators and recruits alike would crawl through broken glass just to get the chance to kiss the feet of 'lil Hitler.

One quick observation here.  Sark leaving for the NFL is being painted in every possible light, mostly negative.  Problems between he and Lord Saybinz.  Saybinz didn't want him anyway.  Sark used Saybinz.

Personally, I can't find one fuck to give about their relationship.

But, I think what we in the South don't really seem to grasp is that college football is king....here in the South.  You get outside the confines of War Eagle/Row Tahd, Hobby Lobby and The Big Bowl of Cheetos, the NFL is the big dog.  By a long shot.  For many in the corching profession, making it in the NFL is the dream, the pinnacle of success.  Again, don't give two flippity fricks what went on between LS and Sark.  But, it may be as simple as the NFL came calling on a west coast guy and he jumped at the chance.

But why is it taking so long to find a suitable replacement?

I heard that the AD and Coach Saban are at odds about which direction the offense should be moving in.  Saban wants someone he's familiar with, but the AD wants a nationwide search to find what he feels is the best candidate possible.

Not that it would happen, but I would laugh until I puked if Saban plucked Briles away from Kiffin.

Interesting.

Is Saban simply not winning enough to suit the AD?  Why in a great golden fuck would you mess with that guy's "process?"  Let him do his thing and collect your checks.

This is the new AD, right?  Saban will have his balls for breakfast ultimately.

I would have responded but I was busy looking over the Dolphins playoff record to find out the last time they won a playoff game.  It's taking a while.  I'm up to 15 years and counting.  Anyone got a quick reference sheet I could borrow?
